Had a weeks stay at Galeon Playa basic 3star plus clean, friendly good place to stay. Would I return? Yes I would. Apartment did not have airconditioning which would have been nice. I believe you had to pay for a fan at reception, which we decided against. Hair dryers can be rented from reception too. Had wonderful 2 balconies one from bedroom and another from lounge. Balcony from bedroom housed the free clothes horse, and the lounge balcony had free plastic circular table and 4 chairs. There was a toaster, hob, kettle (took forever to boil which was amusing), microwave, fridge freezer (kitchenette). Great even though we were half board. Rectangular dining table with 4 wooden chairs. Kids had a L shaped sofa bed. adults twin bed which were firm. TV on unit but no remote as Euro20 deposit, not necessary as buttons down side and didn't watch any t.v. Wifi at reception Euro6.
Cleaners are stated to come 4 times a week.
Brilliant location as right on sea front, we had a sea view overlooking kids playground and pools. 4 pools, 1 salt water and heated and 1.75m deep, other pool circular heated 1.4m deep, other pools not heated very very cold were 1.4m deep, and other paddling pool 0.4m deep with 2 slides for little ones. Saw the pool cleaner most evenings. Where our apartment was situated got noisy if trying to sleep before 11pm. kids club ran in 2 sessions am and pm. There is also a baby galy(club) for up to 3yrs old.
The apartments so near to a choice of beaches. Jabillos to the right and rocky, further to right down very good path which is suitable for wheelchairs and bikes is Bastian playa, it has darker golden sands, worth the walk, 2 playgrounds on the way, but little shade at playgrounds. Cucharas to the left and golden sands, lots of sunbed and busier, seafront shops and bars, further round that beachcontinue to walk along seafront is, charcos beach, it is much quieter. Lots of windsurfers as good waves.
Opposite apartments is Hyperdino supermarket, handy to bring back heavy bottles of water, we bought two 5litres for our 1 week stay and refilled smaller plastic bottles for our beach trips. Down souvenier shops round to sharp right out of apartments there are 2 more playgrounds, so while one of you browse the other can look after children in playground.
Apartment reception can organise various day trips at reduced 5% off trips. Our trip to Teguise market for 3 adults (11 and over) and1 child cost Euro14. Choose a time from 08:25am, 09:30am, 10:30am for pick up by coach, pick up is from Grand Teguise hotel opposite and it drops you off at market and lets you have 3 hours there, and return back to Grand Teguise hotel opposite. Play ground in centre of Teguise market so take it in turns to keep little kids entertained. Public toilets towards steps not to far from playground.
Dinner is from 7pm, May i suggest earlier at 6:30pm for young families. Food at restaurant adequate for vegetarians, salad bar, diff sauces, 2 mains were vegetarian, such as rice and veg or pasta and veg. There is always fries/chips. cheese nuts and biscuits. Always a diff type of soup, sometimes is suitable for vegetarians. Separate kids food buffet, with sweeties, would recommend that veg/salad should be in kids buffet to encourage children to choose healthy options. Can only suggest sweets are only brought out by chef as a treat if kids have eaten their greens. Chef was around giving out lollipops as children left some days. Nice that the restaurant overlooks sea, large windows to watch waves. Door at restaurant opens directly out to seafront so can take a stroll after a meal which was lovely.
Entertainment is from 9pm, may i suggest 8pm for young families? Entertainment repetitive but kids loved it at Atlantic bar. Happy hour served 2 pints of Amstel for price of 1 which was Euro3. 3 Pool tables, 1 inside atlantic bar, 1 outside, 1 opposite reception. Euro1 per play.

I was a bit concerned having read previous reviews about these apartments, but have just come back from an excellent 2 weeks at Galeon Playa!
We stayed in a two bedroom apartment, which, to be fair, had recently been 'done up' and was modern, clean and had everything we needed! (room 120) The only major concern we had was the noise at night-being close to the bar area we had people and young children out until all hours shouting and playing. Thankfully it didn't disturb my two young children but my husband and I were woken frequently. The corridors are noisy too-tiled and you can hear people walking around. Nevertheless, this didn't ruin our stay.
Our room was huge and as previous reviewers have said, were cleaned regularly and everyone was so friendly-especially Tania on reception!
The pool area is lovely-but do watch out for people loitering early in mornings ready to grab sunbeds! We found that mid afternoon was best time to get sunbed and swim, especially with two little ones! If you went to windier pools at back, there was usually loads of free sunbeds-close to childrens park and water slide.
The childrens entertainment was fantastic-dancing round the pool and 'crazy games' and 'childrens disco' were a huge hit with our boys! The only problem I had was that childrens disco started at 9 in the evening-again, not really a problem because boys loved it so much they got used to late nights! Katherine was amazing-she has so much energy and a constant smile!! Rachel was also brilliant-I know she is new, but she is really good at what she does!
We ate out as there were lots of restaurants close by but we did eat breakfast a couple of times and it was such good value! As much as you can eat for €6 adult and €3 for over 6's!
I really can't praise the staff enough-our room was fantastic and the staff so friendly. The apartments are close to beaches-take a banana to Jibacoa(??) beach nearest to apts and watch fish jump out of water as you throw bits in!
Thank you Galeon Playa for fantastic holiday-we really wish we were still with you!

We went back to the Galeon Playa in August 2014. We stayed in apartment 7-240 this time, overlooking the entrance from the reception. It was close to the Atlantic bar. The pool was much cleaner than 2 years ago as were the public areas.
The apartment is well stocked with utensils etc and cleaning is every second day. Bath towels are changed regularly. Bed linen was changed twice during our 13 night stay. The big problem we found this time was the smell of sewage that was in the apartment which seemed to vary by the hour of the day from very intense to not very noticeable.
They do seem to be upgrading apartments within the complex, I did notice apartments in block 10 seemed to be of a higher standard than ours.
We never ate in the buffet, but had lunch in the pool bar once. The food was reasonably priced and we found it to be tasty.
There is a huge amount of space in the complex which is badly used, the bar is quite small and cramped, but they have a huge games room in the basement with squash courts. The games room has very few games, boasting a table tennis table, a chess set and connect 4.
There is entertainment catering for all ages. We played bingo one night and bearing in mind it is aimed at families, children were not welcome to play. The entertainment staff got quite rude about this.
The reception staff are very pleasant and friendly. The Galeon Playa offers a transfer service from the airport which you order through their website. It cost us €15 for two adults and two children. They are very prompt at replying to emails.
The complex has wifi and this costs €15 per week per device.
For people who have flights late in the evening, they have a left luggage room and changing rooms.

The Galeon Playa is a clean and friendly place to stay, its basic but nice. We stayed for 10 nights from 7th to 17th August.. We had a one bed apartment which over looked the street, but had a sea view. At first we thought this would be a noisy place to stay, because of traffic and near by bars, but it wasn't. In fact we enjoyed the room, and the fact that it was on the 3rd floor meant that we had the sun from 12ish onwards, This was ideal for sun bathing(that's if you don't want a pool) if you do want the pool be prepared to queue for the sun beds at 10 am,it can get very busy around the pool..Room 313 is a sun trap. The staff are very friendly and willing to help. The location is good close to all amenities. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again

Room Tip: The rooms with large balconies and get the sun, may be put some sun loungers on them..

Have just returned from a ten night stay at the galeon and thoroughly enjoyed. As everyone else says, the rooms are very basic and are in need of a facelift but we only use the room as a base to sleep and wash so was fine for us! Quite large with adequate cooking facilities, was disappointed to see no hair dryer etc though. Myself and my partner spent the ten days sleeping on the sofa in the living area as the bedroom got far too warm and no air conditioning.

The cleaners weren't great - changing towels once every 4 days when 2 people are showering twice a day really isn't good, also the bathroom wasn't cleaned once while we were there!

The main pool area is nice with a pool bar with cheap food and drink and entertainment going on daily, there is another pool towards the back of the hotel by the main bar which is very very windy and hardly used - no sunbeds available up there which we found quite silly! Main pool area does not open until 10am and nearly every morning there were arguments between guests over sunbeds! The lifeguard began removing towels from reserved sunbeds around lunchtime if people popped out for lunch which was a ridicolus way of doing it as on people's returns arguments were occurring between them and the people who had sat on empty sunbeds - self catering resort guests should have a right to pop to the room or nearby restaurant for food without having towels removed!!

The bar and night time entertainment is pretty grim - again need a good make over and spruce up!

The location is great - near bars, pubs, shop, beach, only 20 minutes from airport.

Costa teguise was far too quiet for us though with not that much going on, the square was nice but other than that not much else to do or see, spent a day in Puerto del carmen and was much more going on here!!

BE WARY of the taxi drivers out here, absolute idiots, nearly had a very nasty crash on way back from carmen. Would avoid a taxi ride at all costs!!

All in all I would return to galeon playa but unlikely would return to costa teguise!

Stayed here 10 nights from the 1st August.

We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was huge, clean but dated and in need of a facelift.

However we went with family and friends that stopped in rooms 204 to 208 which were a lot more modern than the one we stopped in (172)

However this hotel does not try to sell itself as a high end hotel. It is what it is...a cheap family accommodation.

The pool area is very clean and well looked after.

The staff are brilliant, polite and trustworthy. As we were leaving after our stay the receptionist ran to us as we were bording the coach as my daughter had left her Samsung s5 phone on a chair in reception. Couldn't thank him enough or I would have been £500 out of pocket.

The location of this hotel is brilliant. Close to amenities and with sea views.

If you don't go here expecting to be stopping in the Ritz you will have a brilliant time.

Remember you get what you pay for and this hotel is definitely value for money.

Would recommend and would return to this hotel if I decide to go to costa teguise again.

We stayed here at the end if July for a week but felt that we could easily have stayed there longer.
The apartments were spacious and very clean we had a sea view room with a balcony. The staff were very friendly and always very helpful, you could always get a Sun bed round the pool and the pool area and grounds were clean and well maintained.
I can't comment on the food as we were self catering so didn't eat there.
The location is fantastic with the beach across the road and lots of great bars and restaurant's in walking distance with lots of choice of different cuisines that are good value for money.
We will definitely be going back next year thank you for a great holiday.
