“Excellent value for money, great winter sun break”
Reviewed 7 March 2010

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Galeon Playa at the end of Feb to beginning of March, We got a very cheap deal on lowcostholidays, so wern't expecting 5 star luxury. But we were suprised to find a very nice hotel. First impressions of the room, were that it was very large, big living area and even bigger bedroom. Even the balcony was huge. The apartment did smell a bit funny for the first day or so until we'd aired it (previous occupents dodgy cooking!) Very clean, cleaners came in nearly every day to fully clean floors and change beds. The bed's were a bit hard, but you expect this in most places I think.. Cooking facilities and plates/pots pans etc ample for self catering. Bathroom was fine, shower very powerful and seemed to last quite a while before running out of hot water.
Apartments have a perfect location, within easy walking distance of everything, and just across the road, a lovely little sandy beach with crystal clear water,
I would recommend this hotel for young families, as it was not at all loud, the area also suited this type of family, as no big noisy clubs and bars.
Didn't eat there, but the buffet restaurant on site didn't look or smell to great.

Excellent resort, very clean, quiet at this time of year (except for the carnival - great fun!) Hotel is in one of the best locations but is a bit jaded. Looks rather dull but the rooms are large and very clean with separate bedroom and with two electric rings, a microwave, a toaster, a fridge, a kettle, table and chairs and a settee that converts into a bed. The furnishings are very basic but what do you need if you're only going to sleep in there anyway? The staff are pleasant, the lifts work and there are plenty of sunbeds. Having said all that, the food is not so good. Breakfast consisted of streaky bacon, fried eggs, English type sausages (not frankfurter rubbish!) baked beans, sometimes tomato sometimes mushrooms, pancakes and a doughnut type sweet thing with sugar. Continental style sliced meats were available but no hard-boiled eggs or cheese, which was rather disappointing. Cereals were rubbish but fresh fruit and fruit salad was nice and refreshing. Orange juice, apple juice and coffee was available and there was plenty of toast to be had. Dinner was very limited, only one meat choice, one fish choice (not counting the battered fish jougons), sometimes no veg at all, rice and pasta (but no suitable sauces to accompany them). The worst thing was that the dishes were not labled therefore it was not always possible to determine what it was. We complained about that and on our last day we noticed that labels were being displayed. Soup was available but we heard someone ask what it was and another guest replied 'I don't know what it is but it's green'. Puddings were crap (and I cleaned that up!). Cold rice pudding emerged twice during the week but it's difficult to tell whether it was the same stuff or a new batch because nobody but me seemed to be eating it. However, even though I have painted a poor picture of the food I found it to be very edible and went back for seconds on one particular fish course. My wife, however, remained non-plussed and is adamant that we will not go half board again u n less it's in a top class hotel. My advice is to go self-catering because the choice of restaurants close by is phenominal. Loads of Chinese restaurants doing a buffet from 4 earos 50 to 6 euros and up to 100 dishes. Steakhouse and pasta places abound from the lower end of the market to top-notch establishments. Not worth going for half board. We went with Cosmos but their prices for the tours were ridiculous compared to the little kiosk over the road.

Just returned from these apts in Costa teguise and we werent dissapointed. The location was fab.The apartments were spacious and clean as were the pool areas etc. (2 of ,one quieter than the other) .Staff were friendly, especially the young guy from the animation team who was very funny and tried his damdest to involve everyone in activities! Didnt eat here, although we met someone who did and they didnt really rate the food here.We were in Rm 215 which was a bit of a nightmare on Friday and Saturday nights as the noise from a nearby nightclub went on until 6.30am.....not good if you want to go on holiday to chill out as we did!! The beds were uncomfortable too, but these are the only bad points and having said that we would definately go again.Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. We ate at one of the many 'all you can eat ' chinese buffets which was really good value at around 5e each. Beer is around £2.50 a pint. There were two decent beaches within a 2 minute walk. Best bar we came across was on the beachfront called 'The Dolphin inn'. This was really popular and had a great atmosphere and was a hot favourite for the footy!! Probably down to the fact there were 7 tv's!! The guy who runs it (Ian) knows how to keep a crowd in!! Huge market is on a Sunday, and you can get a bus to it for around 2 euro's .Teguise is a lovely resort and would suit families and couples as its a bit calmer than the resort of Puerto Del Carmen!! If you havent set your standards too high then you would probably enjoy it here.Rooms are a bit tired but you get what you pay for! Great holiday for us.

This hotel is descibed by many as basic, which i believed to mean clean and not fancy well i think it is shabby, not well presented, scruffy, and in bad state of repair. There were holes in the curtains ants inside and out, the bath was damaged the rooms are big with cheap furniture in it, and when it does rain it comes in. The kichen was ok you have to hire a kettle and leave a 20 euro deposit for the tv remote some people say its cheap and worth the money well we stayed for 4 weeks 2 weeks there and paid the same as we did for the other 2 weeks at lanzarote gardens which is alot more acceptable. The bedroom was not comfy and beds are very hard and there were holes in the sheets the blankets smelt. we were self catering and please as another couple said the food was horrid they ate apples for evening meal. there isnt any night entertainment there may be somepeople who like this well they have low expectations only good thing is the pools were clean and looked nice staff ok. wrote this for ur benifit not mine bare that in mind

The Galeon Playa Apartments are value for money. You can find good deals online and get what you pay for. The apartments are spacious but basic. The staff i don't feel placed to comment on too much as we didn't really interact with themas spent most of our time at the beach or eating out at night. The rooms are cleaned daily which is always great. The pool was freezing but ok once you got in! The location is close to the beach and bars/restaurants and in most rooms you can expect a very picturesque view of the sea. Their is little noise in the resort as most bars shut around 12pm. I would visit Costa Teguise for a relaxing holiday and wouldn't recommend it toanyone looking for any sort of nightlife. Overall i would probably try another hotel in costa teguise if i were to visit again but certainly wouldn't be too reluctant to stay in the Galeon Playa if i had to.

What can you say about a spacious apartment with a sea view balcony and three swimming pools, that is just across the road from the beach and a supermarket and has restaurants and shops just footsteps away and costs just 25 euros per night?

AMAZING VALUE!!!!

The Galeon Playa is clean. pleasant and bright with a well equipped kitchen with kettle and microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, 2 hot plates, good bathroom, bedroom with plenty of storage and moirrored wardrobe, plenty of space and a great location.

Yes the beds are twin and not wonderfully comfortable, the huge sofa is a little romper room bright and you can't take back to back showers as the water can run out, you could get locked out on the balcony as the lock automatically shut, and there are no lifts and the reception staff (just like the two poor stranded turtles in the reception) are not that welcoming and a bit lacklustre ... but at 25 euros you certainly get a lot for your money!

It was fairly full when we were there with nice couples and a few families. It was quiet apart from a few hours early on friday night about 9 with a band. There seemed to be plenty of day/night activities planned but we did not attend any.

You also had to pay 5 euros to get a remote control for the TV which did grate a bit, so we saved 5 euros and did it the old fashioned way.

We had just come from Correlejo and Playa Blanca and I have to say we did not really care for Costa Teguise as it was just so touristy, though it was cheap with 3 euro breakfasts!

So if you don't mind a very touristy, non-authentic resort with a nice beach and are looking for a great deal then I would recommend the Galeon Playa apartments.

Glamerous and romantic they ain't but then again for 25 euros a night (with laterooms.com) you certainly will be pleased at what you do get!
