“Diverhotel Lanarote well worth the money”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

My Partner myself and my 10 year old daughter spent a week here in late July to early August.Apon arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff who told us our room was just being cleaned and would be another hour. This was no problem to us and were told to help ourselves to refreshments, food and drink.
Had a quick look round and a bite to eat then took our bags to our room. The room was was quite dated ie the tv was one of the old type and the decoration dated but beds were comfy and was always kept clean by the maids, and as we were only really sleeping here and not spending any other time in the room it didnt really matter.
The pools were great fun for the kids and adults with slides and were not cold. Was difficult to find a sun bed at times and not many parasols to hide from the sun.All in all very good.
BUT the female pool attendant, what a nightmare.I totally understand that kids shouldnt run beside the pool and there needs to be health and safety considered, which to be fare to her she did well, but the non stop whistle blowing, shouting and hauling the kids who lets face it are on holiday to have fun,to their parents every 5 mins is bang out of order.Im a very laid back person but she was getting under even my skin. Its no exaggeration, the male pool assistant let the kids have fun,she didnt.Diverhotel management do yourself a favour and sack this person.Everyone was moaning about her.
Anyway,he food was great with plenty to choose from and beer soft drinks snacks a plenty.
Easy and cheap to get into town,a 3 min taxi ride and the water park a 5 min taxi ride and worth a visit, costs 60 Euros for 2 adults and one child.
Pay no attention to people who write negative reviews on this hotel. Its a great place to stay with plenty to keep you and your kids happy and very friendly staff who cant do enough for you, they were great.
A very windy island and if visiting the beach seriously be prepared to be sandblasted!
All in all Well worth the money and definitely worth a visit great for families

just returned from a 10 night holiday, really enjoyed Lanzarote and The Diver Hotel. Yes if booking anything you still need to call it Playaverde but not a problem.Food was good staff work really hard and rooms cleaned every day. Plenty of water ice cream crisps and slush all the time food available from 8am til 10 pm fresh bread every meal time, Enjoyed the music in the bar at night. Night time entertainment could do with a boost but again staff work hard. Pool was cold for me but not for my family as my daughter spent all day every day in the water. No queues at bar as soft drinks and beer self service, good range of spirits. Yes we would go back to this hotel .

Room Tip: we were on ground floor near pool half way between bars, enjoyed sitting out in the evening no prob...

we recently visited the diver 4* hotel 29.7.14 - 10.8.14 .

HOTEL.... this hotel claims to be 4* I would say it is a good 3* .the hotel All inclusive is very good and one of the better all inclusive's I have been . there are a large variety of drinks , snacks etc.not including food in the restaurant's .

FACILITIES... I visited this hotel with my partner and my 14 soon to be 15 year old son . The entertainment was aimed at the Spanish , German and French guests I felt and there was nothing for Kids of 10 + years to do if they did not join in with mini disco.

There was mini golf for a deposit ,but only so many times you can play a 9 hole course . They had French boules again for a deposit and again only so many times you can play that . My son with around 15-17 other kids hung around in the area out side the bar and played pool at 1 euro a go or they would be found in the foyer where the free wifi was.

CLEANLINESS... There were always cleaners about cleaning the hotel .rooms got done once a day but bedding was not changed just re made leaving sand in the sheets . you would think for 4* you would get fresh bedding daily. the hotel is large so the room clean was basic but okay.

FOOD... I don't eat red meats only chicken .they were meats on every evening and fish these always seemed to be with a sauce . my partner and son eat well . I am the same on every all inclusive end up eating chips soup and bread for the duration .
we ate out at the WOK Chinese and at the welcome pub / restaurant .
the variety of salad and fruit were limited and the puddings were very limited .

STAFF... The staff were friendly and helped where possible . it did feel the hotel was aimed more at foreign guests as booklets information in the foyer were mainly in Spanish / other language .
more staff were needed at breakfast as one would be left manning the egg station a hard task .

TRIPS... we did the south island jeep safari a great trip and Louis the driver we had was a funny crazy man made the trip . we also did the submarine safari it was okay but I would not do this trip if I had to choose over.

We went out walking every day either in to the town which had lots of shops bars restaurants etc . The beaches were okay but we found the ones with the big rocks were the best to visit as with the wind Lanzarote is famous for you always got a face full of sand . they were a couple of beaches out of the back gate and left and one out of the gate right near the Lanzarote resort hotel .

WOULD I VISIT AGAIN ? Lanzarote yes playa Blanca was recommended and a villa or apartment . Lanzarote is WINDY which can be off putting but we were told playa Blanca is not .

Room Tip: jeep safari south island

Lanzarote is a great island even though it is windy. This fact makes of the island a legend for windsurfers.

Where to start.......
for a 4* hotel the price was very good - this can sometimes be a cause for concern - is it really a 4*
The building - in places it is a bit tired - comments about cracked tiles are correct. However one thing that is very obvious is that the are very keen on keeping it clean. Rooms cleaned everyday and there always appears to be someone tidying around the pool areas. Free one hour of wifi each day is good.

Food - having been to a few all inclusive hotels this probably ranks among the highest - plenty of 'live' cooking (for all meals) and a very varied menu - this is from a family that doesn't like fish - and that must cut out about 30-40% of the menu at each meal! First time I have been on an all inclusive where the beer is 'self service' at all the bars (not just the restaurant area). This means that queue's at the bars for spirits etc.... are almost non existent

Staff - very friendly (our kids are too old for all the animation activities so can't really comment on the animation team). We wanted a late checkout on our last day and were told that all the rooms were needed (and they don't have a courtesy room - which I think the hotel should address). However 20 minutes later I got a call and was told they could arrange a late checkout in one of our rooms. We have 2 teenage children so decided to have two rooms and we requested that they were as close to each other as possible - given that we only booked 2-3 weeks before we went I was really pleased that we had rooms next to each other with a connecting door which they unlocked for the duration of our trip. Jenny the lifeguard is fantastic - yes she is strict but it is for everyone's safety - and she is very good with the young children

Pool area - the water is colder than you would normally expect. SAVING YOUR SUNBED - best policy I have come across - you can go out as early as you want to 'bag' your sunbeds. However, (AND BE WARNED), when the life guard starts work (somewhere between 9.30 and 10.15) if you are not on your bed then they will take your towels and store them for you to collect later when you arrive at the pool - but your sunbeds will no doubt be being used by someone else by that time - it is frustrating when it happens for the first time but by then you know the rules! My only criticism would be that this isn't written down anywhere so that everyone knows from day 1 - if it was I think it would cut down on the hard time that the life guards often get.

Hopefully under the new name they will make the improvements that will make this a very desirable location. Its a 20 Euro taxi ride from the airport making it a good location and about a 10 minute walk to the coastal path where there are beaches etc..... and a pleasant walk into Costa Teguise.

Room Tip: We were in rooms 161 and 163 on the ground floor. Rooms on this corridor have the patio door that op...

The people that have given negative reviews are WRONG

The Hotel is great, the food is very varied and there are 80 plus different dishes if you include it all, even live cooking.

I have been here for 16 nights and NEVER found anything negative at all about the food. All self service beers, slushes, juices, pop, ice cream, crisps and even cocktails. International brand spirits, wines I could go on and on and on.

The staff are great especially Abel and Alvaro. There is even a self service pool bar that does fries, burgers hotdogs etc all with self service.

Great Hotel great food/drinks great staff set out really well.

Think bad reviews are at wrong and are out of pur malice, there is Crazy golf, boules, shuffleboard, table tennis, archery, pistol shooting and an auditorium with nightly entertainment including live bird shows and loads more. Room spotless and accommodating.

Free bottles of water everywhere in fridges all over the Hotel.

Its good do not worry.

We were a family of 6 - 2 adults and 4 kids (aged 13, 9, 8, 6). We were delighted to be allocated rooms as requested prior to travel i.e. 2 rooms adjoining on the top floor (3rd floor). The rooms are spacious and comfortable with 2 large beds and a sofa bed, accommodating up to 3 people in each room. There is a separate dressing area with a basin and also a separate bathroom with shower (in the bath), a toilet and a bidet. The rooms have a dressing table, large wardrobe with hangers, hairdryer, TV and fridge, aircon and ceiling fan as well as a balcony with table and 2 chairs plus hanging rail to hang out wet towels, clothes etc.
Use of the room safe is extra as €24 for 1 week. Our rooms were cleaned daily with new bath/hand towels - great service. Pool towels are available at Reception for €10 deposit each, fully refundable when you hand them back at the end of your stay.
We travelled on an all inclusive basis, great for the kids especially, who could snack and grab a drink whenever they wanted to (the ice creams and the popcorn proved to be most popular!) Restaurant food was great, loads of choice of both local and international cuisine. Bar service great too, with little queuing. Service was excellent with tables cleared and re-laid efficiently to allow for new guests. There was hardly any queuing at food stations, only the pancake station which appeared to be everyone's favourite at breakfast, lunch and dinner! Entertainment was average with an afternoon activity each day by the pool and nightly entertainment in the hotel's purpose-built amphitheatre (the amphitheatre is such a great set up with loads of space for everyone to sit and watch the entertainment on the stage, without being on top of each other). The kids loved the nightly mini-disco run by the Animation team (who were great)) before the entertainment started, but they chose not to go to the kids club during the stay as there was so much else to keep them entertained, mini golf, Ping-Pong, giant chess (mini chess boards also available at Reception), and the kids also enjoyed the hotel's 3 pool slides although these were really more suited to smaller children. Trying to get a sunbed in the mornings was a bit of a mission, with other guests "reserving" beds by leaving their towels on them first thing but the good thing is that the Hotel recognise this as a problem and the pool lifeguard wandered around the pool from time to time and removed and stored abandoned towels on those sunbeds that hadn't been used for a while, which was great as this really helped free up beds for other guests). We visited the nearby port (Puerto de Marinero) and local market to purchase souvenirs and the kids had their hair braided there too. There is a lovely sandy beach there but it is quite a walk for younger children (about 20-30 mins from the Hotel) otherwise a taxi cost €3,50 per way. There is a closer beach to the Diverhotel however it is quite small and also fairly rocky, but still a great morning or afternoon visit at just a 10 minute walk from the Hotel. We also visited the local waterpark (AquaPark which is the original waterpark on the island) which was a tad pricey for the whole family of 6 but worth it for the full day, with plenty of rides for kids of all ages and also adults. We took our own sandwiches and fruit and water bottles from the Hotel to avoid paying extortionate prices within the park. Sunbeds at the park were charged at €1,50 which was quite reasonable we thought (compared to €5+ at other water parks we've had to pay on previous holidays).
All in all, a great little family holiday, very memorable and we thought great value for money. The Diverhotel is clean and comfortable (in need of a little TLC i.e. chipped paint, loose tiles in the swimming pool, loose wall-mounted amps in the bedrooms) but overall, our experience of the Hotel was great, all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We would really recommend going all inclusive here, especially for a family with kids - it's so much more relaxing for everyone.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floor away from pool and entertainment areas are quieter - we had rooms 360 and 363 whi...

Stayed here with my boyfriend we are aged 19. Wanted something for a quick get away.
Was impressed with the hotel room, lovely view of pool, had a fan, fridge and tv.
Maids definitely done a great job, even hung all my bikinis over bathroom rails to dry.
Food was so so... always something to eat though. Hotdogs, chips etc throughout the day. Loved that there was a slush machine, crisps, ice cream and bottles of water whenever wanted.
Table tennis and golf too.
Beach wasnt as close as expected but if you go out the back entrance of hotel (only found that door on last day) then the walk isnt bad.
Buses go into the town and easy to get around.
Staff were lovely and very helpful.
Overall was better then expected and defiantly was sad to leave!
