“cheap and cheerful!!...a bit far out though”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2012

well this was my first holiday alone with my boyfriend but this was 3 years ago now in june 2009 lol so we have been a few places since then...so not sure what its like now.

We booked it cheep and cheerful as it was our first holiday and to be honest we were not disappointed. We knew we were self catering and going with an open mind helped alot. We just wanted a break away from the crap weather in england and thats what we got :) the rooms were spacious and have everything we needed. Yes, the apartments were basic and pool was small but again, we just wanted a base to explore and a break away.

The resort itself was lovely and was alot of choice of where to eat so dont worry about that!!...it was a little bit of a walk there, that is the only downfall but this is no problem if you are young and active as it only takes about 20 minutes. If you are elderly or have walking disabilities then perhaps this is not the best choice of stay. However saying this we got taxis some days and its like 2 euros 50 so you cant complain. The beaches were very nice and were alot of bars around them to sit and eat.

We took the boat trip to Fuerteventura and was such a good day out and the beach that they take you to is amazing with big waves..you should go if you can! we also went to puerto del carmen which is also a lovely sandy beach with McDonalds (etc) with lots of things around if you have kids. You can get here on the bus from the town for like 5 euros which is not bad at all.

All in all we have a lovely trip and would definitely go back to Costa Teguise in the future. However we would go all inclusive, obly for the reason that we have done this for the last 3 years, nothing to do with paradise club.

Im sure you will have a lovely holiday as we did, Happy Holidays :D

Room Tip: Good Base for seeing the Island :)

If you have this place booked and paid it is ok, but if its not booked do not think about staying here!! We are just back yesterday after staying a week and it was our travel agent that recommeded it.... we will be having a few words with her tomorrow!!!
We are a family of five, my hubby and I and 3 children aged 8, 5 & baby of 7mths and we choose costa teguise because we were told it was quieter and better for children what a load of crap.
Firstly this place is stuck out in the middle of nowhere, we had to walk at least 20mins ( I'm being very generous with the 20min walk keeping in mind we have 3 kids with complaints every 2mins saying their legs are sore, Im tired etc etc it could take maybe 30mins sometimes) before we could get a proper supermarket to buy a few things or get anything to eat. The 'complimentary bus service' that they have runs only 3 times a day 10am 12am and 4;30 what the hell use is that to anybody?? The bus service should be every hr or 2hrs right up to 9pm at night considering where this place is stuck!! You can get a taxi but this will add 8/9 euro to your evening!!!
Second is the apartment itself it was a big apartment for sure (we had the 2 bedroom place) but it is very run down! The bath was extremely rusty around the sides, the beds were as hard as a rock and so bloody squeeky, the kitchen has only one plug so no two appliances could run at same time and the kettle could do with getting descaled!! The maid service was twice a week and we got fresh towels each time but no clean bedsheets and she only brushed & washed floors, never cleaned benches or left any clean teatowels it was the worst maid service I've ever experienced!!
Thirdly the pool bar/restaurant does nice food and the staff very friendly but everything was overpriced!!! 2 euro 70 for a pint and 5 euro for small breakfast this could be bought downtown for between 1-2 euro a pint and 3 euro for a breakfast!! The facilities for the kids are poor, there is a wee pool, big pool, 2 swings that look like they are about to snap and a slide. The pools are ice cold and our 8 & 5 yr old still went in but were shivering with cold we didnt take the baby in at all!! The security of this place isn't good at all, right beside the 'playpark' is where all the deliveries seem to take place and I couldn't settle at all as any van/car could pull in and lift your children and be gone as quick as lightening!!!
We went with Thomas Cook for the first time ever and it will be our last time ever. I never experienced such a crap service! We got picked up at the airport and rep came on bus to say that there would be no rep going with us to our hotel/apartments so we had to check into apartment ourselves and rep would be with us next day. He came next day and I never seen another Thomas Cook rep until I was returning home!! Very poor service from Thomas Cook and I wont be travelling with them again!

Room Tip: Dont stay here at all!!

Stayed here 01.05.2012 for 1 week. Good value for money, nice little kids area, bar serves fast food, alright price and the pizzas are lovely but every where we ate in Costa Teguise was fantastic food and great prices. Our room had an iron & ironing board, kettle, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, 2 ring electric hob, fridge with freezer compartment. Appartment was clean and tidy. NO HAIR DRYER ALTHOUGH THIS WAS MENTIONED IN DETAILS. We did not turn the air conditioning on so unsure if worked. In need of a few repairs, the ladders are both loose in Paradise pool which is a much better size and depth than the Las Colinas pool and the railings to room 6 balcony were a little loose. Could also do with new mattresses, had backache every morning. Hot water runs out after 30 litres and takes a long time to heat back up for second person to get showered. Towels were changed twice but bedding was not, it was just made on 2 occassions. We did not turn the air conditioning on so unsure if worked. Had water dripping from an over flow from the room above on one occassion (balcony to balcony). We hired a 3 door corsa (1.2) from a place near Las Cucharas beach and paid 60 Euro for three days including insurance, there are a lot of car hire places but this price was the lowest we found. Nice and cool at night, was a little windy during the day sometimes which was a relief from the hot sun. We liked the beach cove between Bastian and Las Cucharas, clear waters and plenty of space to sun bathe without having to pay 5 Euros a day for a sun bed. The Eurospar on the dual carriage way was cheaper and bigger than the hipo supermarkets, mini market on site was not very good, did not have milk or toilet rolls when we went. TV takes 1 euro for 50 minutes use but the bar/shop will not give change unless you buy something. We went to the Fiery Mountains which was only 8 euro entrance fee, really worth it for the coach trip and sights. Also paid 8 Euros to go into Jameas del Agua which is really nice. Recommend that you get a car and drive to these places instead of paying for the excursions as this will save you money. Will definately go back to Lanzarote, no bugs, wasps, bees, we were able to relax and would not hesitate to stay here again if the mattresses had been better.

Arrived in Lanzarote, only to be stranded at the airport by the Rep. We were told the transfer coach had gone without us, after sitting around waiting for it for nearly an hour!!!!
Thomas Cook arranged a taxi to take us in the end, after i got very angry with another Thomas cook rep.

The accommodation was in the middle of no where in a residential area. There was no one around, and it was really eirie.

The Taxi driver dropped us at the front of the hotel, and when we tried to enter the reception, it was locked!!!!! No one around at all. Not a soul.

We finally got the key from the bar, after being kept waiting by the bar man who was serving a round of drinks in the very dark, dingy looking bar. And he just pointed in the general direction of where our room was, bare in mind we had 3 cases, a baby in a buggy and baby bags and hand luggage and were really tired and struggling.

When we got into the room, the musty smell nearly knocked us out, it was vile. The worktops in the kitchen were dirty with crusty dried in food. The floor was dirty, The couch beds were filthy with stains on. There were black marks all over the bright yellow walls, and blood on the bedroom wall. The TV was unusable, as it was chocker block with money. The curtains were hanging off, and the kitchen doors were crumbling.

The maid came once and made the beds in a fashion, changed the towels and we never seen her again.

We had an elderly couple next door who rowed every night when drunk and screamed at each other using foul language and keeping my 3 year old daughter awake. The woman was obviously mad as she was insinuating that a man who was asleep by the pool could be a paedophile!!!

(I just couldnt believe what a crappy holiday we were having, and it was from start to finish.)

The Rep didnt at any point come to find us. We had no welcome meeting. I had to leave a note for her to come to us when she eventually turned up on the third day!!!
I voiced my complaints and told her we wanted to move into another hotel. She said she had to fax her boss which would take 2 days!!!!!
She got back to us on the Friday morning sayin we could move for the last two days at a charge of around 180 euro's.
She even lied to us and said there'd been no other complaints about the hotel, which was untrue, because we spoke to other couples there who were absolutely livid with their accommodation too.

It is too far off the beaten track, and in the middle of nothingness.

I would never return to this hotel ever again, Even if they paid me!!!!

Honestly, it's not that bad! The apartment is clean, has basic amenities (2 ring ceramic hotplate, sink and fridge) and towels are provided. The apartment is cleaned twice a week and the bar staff are friendly enough.

The only things they could do better are to heat the pool and equip the mini mart with more stock.

Room Tip: Guests tend to arrive in the early hours due to late flights so choose a top floor room if you don...

My apartment at Lanzarote Paradise was basic, clean, spacious and very dated. The kettle, toaster, coffee-maker, cooker and shower all worked fine. My only concern was what some others have mentioned. The front metal door, looked like it had been forced many times and the lock was very flimsy, which made me feel uneasy all the time I was there. Luckily, all was fine.
The complex was very quiet when I was there, with hardly anyone around the pool. The staff in Bar Volcano were very friendly and pleasant. There was no "entertainment" which was a huge plus for me. If you want "All Singing & Dancing" this is not the place for you. As I love walking, I found the 20min walk into the resort no problem, or the walk back. If you don't like walking - don't stay here. To sum up: This place is very basic, clean and dated. It's cheap and you get what you pay for. If you expect more, then you'll have to pay a great deal more money

Just returned from Las Colinas yesterday,1st April 2012 and had a lovely time. The apartments are great, too big really, very clean. The pools were good, looked after and, although it was a bit out of the way, the courtesy bus, 3 times a day was fab for getting you into the centre. Mind you it was only a 15 minute walk away. We hired bikes from ,'planet bikes' in costa Teguise and they were great. Nice German man gave us lots of advice etc. Did not have one problem at all. I would certainly go back.
