I stayed at this hotel from Feb 29th to March 7th 2012. I was welcomed with a glass of champagne and there was a bottle of bubbles awaiting me in my room! The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and the standard of the rooms and public areas was excellent. The rooms were cleaned and towels changed on 5 out of 7 days. Although there was entertainment it wasn't terribly successful because the hotel was only 25% occupied and most guests seemed to spend the evenings elsewhere. There was a free bus service to a very nice beach - the Esmeralda -about 10 minutes drive away - the bus service ran several times during the day. You could walk to a beach - about 15 minutes away and you could walk along this beach and come to the Esmeralda beach. The walk took about an hour but it was a lovely way of passing the time! There were lots of naked bodies on the beach but this part of the island is renowned for this. There was also a nudist sunbathing facility on the hotel roof and in the spa but not at the pool. The food was very good and the dining room very attractive.
I got the shuttle transfer from the airport - it was not expensive and took just under an hour which is very good given the distance from the airport.
I was on my own and felt totally relaxed and at home. The majority of the guests were older couples but there were several young couples.
If you want a relaxing holiday you couldn't do better than choose this hotel!

Spent a very restful week at this hotel. Costa Calma is arround 60 kilometers from the Fertevnetura airport so the transfes were quite expensive, i would advise hiring a car if possible. The hotel staff are very efficient, with a great attitude. In March you would expect the resort to be quieter and it was. We had our 20 year old son with us so not a lot for him to do apart from "chill" which he did! The island is a rather barren landscape but the car enabled us to take in tne fantastic views from the higher hils and mountains. The island would be a cyclists paradise, both off road and on road.
The location of the hotel is a little out of the way although only a 10-15 minote stroll to the nearest beach (beware naturists!). The rooms are good for a week with large single beds which cn be pushed together. The TV has BBC News channel, which apart from Bllomberg is the only English channel, lots of German and Spanish channels, not a problem if you are on holiday though! The hotel apparently has recently reopened under a new management company and they are doing their very best to make your stay a happy one.

Room Tip: Adult only so no children activities. Hire a car

Just back from a lovely peaceful week at this hotel. Was not expecting much as this was a last minute cheap deal and I had read previous reviews. Spacious room with sunny balcony and very clean. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Deal was half board plus ( drinks with dinner) and I was glad of that as it was a bit of a walk to nearest restaurant and I was on my own. Excellent choice at breakfast. Don't understand previous review about lack of English choice. Anyway it's nice to try other things. Evenings were pretty good, some nights better than others but you could always find something. Ate too much! I did not use a taxi at all. Took bus to Morro Jable one day and that was easy. Also bus outside for beach but only did that once.Enjoyed walking about in the mornings and reading books in the afternoons.Unless you have a mobility problem there is nothing wrong with location. It was, in fact, so quiet at night that I slept better than I ever have on holiday. I do agree about T.V channels as that would have been great at night and there wasn't much to do. I took travel kettle so that wasn't a problem and fridge in room was good. All in all I would say it did exactly what I hoped for. A week of relaxation in the sun and recharge of batteries. If you like lots of nightlife, not the place for you but I would certainly go back if deal was the same.

Feb 19 to 26th 2012

The hotel was kept immaculately and was very clean. Very helpful staff who spoke good English in Reception and management. The waiting staff seemed to speak mainly German and Spanish.

In general the food was very good but somewhat repetitive but of good quality.
I was ill one day with an upset stomach and only wanted some yogurt which was unavailable in the hotel that day so they arranged for a car to go to the local supermarket and brought back a pack of small yogurts for which they refused payment.
The pools were cold and as the weather generally was cooler than expected at that time of year there were only a very few hardy souls who used them.
The hotel is definitely geared to German visitors and there was no English flag or brochures in English, which we found disappointing. The TV had many German and Spanish programmes and only 3 English of which 2 were American business channels and the BBC World Service. The films being shown had been dubbed and there were no subtitles. We were extremely disappointed by this and complained to the general manager who said he was aware of the problem and would try to get it fixed. It did not happen during our 1 week stay.

The lighting in the room was inadequate so we asked for a bedside light with higher wattage which was brought, as was a kettle as there was not one in the room. As there was no socket at the side of the bed the hotel provided an extension lead.
It costs 1 euro per day to use the room safe which we found to be unnecessary. Although we have been charged before in other hotels most now supply the room safe free. It is Cordiale policy from head office apparently.
There is a 'Paddle 'tennis court which is a real missed opportunity as it is a little over half the size of a proper court and there was space to extend it to the full size. It was used by some German boys every day but no one else seemed interested. I did find the squash court which was next top the main restaurant.

Room Tip: Wifi was slow only 2.45 mb but free in the reception area. I complained that this should be availab...

We both enjoyed our 2 weeks here at the "Adults Only" Hotel Best Age. We have spent several holidays in the Jandia area of Fuerteventura, so we knew the whole area.
Our money was well spent on choosing a Junior Suite on Full board plus. This made our holiday, as our suite was in the sun all day and very sheltered. Also very private as we were on our own for the first week and for the second week we had lovely neighbours. All the suites were named after rivers and each suite's decor is totally different. Our's had an Indian theme & our neighbour's a chinese theme!
We would advise hiring a car, as there are many beautiful beaches to explore.( one of the main activities here is beach walking with paddling in the winter. I did venture into the sea but of course it is rather chilly!) We drove from the airport.
We were quite happy with the food, especially the show cooking and the varied menu. However the lunches on offer proved too much food for us, so we ended up making sandwiches and appreciated our private patio for eating them.
There are a few teething problems, like the bar hours, but we were happy with the low key entertainment in the evening in the Lobby. Many of us made use of the free wi-fi and we had great company with lots of laughs, especially between the Scots and the English!
The hotel was very quiet and the staff all very welcoming and helpful.

Room Tip: Choose a Junior Suite!

Having spent 2 brilliant fortnights last year in the outstanding Cordial Hotel Mogan Playa in Gran Canaria,we were
tempted to try Cordial's newly opened refurbished Best Age Hotel in Costa Calma, Fuerteventura by the
extraordinarily cheap cost for 2 weeks half board plus.
The result was mixed. After only 3 months since opening I hope that the few criticisms which follow can be taken in the spirit in which they are made with the aim of improvement. However little can be done about the poor location of the hotel, nor the fact that one half of the bedrooms,so far largely unused, have a view only of the front block.
The hotel is very largely centred on German guests. Most notices and all tourist brochures are in German and only theGerman and Spanish flags flew outside. This did not mean that other nationalities were treated any less favourably.Staff were all wholly friendly and helpful. One example which was perhaps unfortunate was that there
is a detailed list of daytime activities on a wall by the Spa which never happened and which were were never promoted by the Animateur who spoke only German.
Whilst our 2 weeks saved us from the icy spell at home, the cold weather had spread to North Africa and the Canaries and the hotel's public indoor areas were quite cold and might be improved by the judicious placing of a few extra doors.Similarly the pool area was ok when it was sunny but at other times windbreaks could have kept off the prevailing wind. The temperature of the "acclimatised"pool meant that only the hardiest few ever entered the water.
Food was ok ish on the whole but there seemed to be no hands on management of the state of the food trays. We have yet to find a hotel where food is successfully kept warm but having only cold plates did not help and an investment in plate warmers might help.It is surprising that the hotel bar is closed until 8 pm.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were fine and like the whole hotel and grounds kept clean very well. However one presumably inherited flaw is the ludicrous positioning of the only mirror in the bedroom over the latticed luggage table so that there is nowhere to place the myriad bottles necessary for the ladies' daily transformation.
That the lights by the beds are scarcely bright enough to read by came as no surprise.Possibly it was expected that guests would be entranced by the grand new tvs ,particularly if they are German or Spanish with 18 and 40+ channels.English speakers have to make do with CNN,Bloomberg and BBC World.
The nearest large resort Morri Jade is 30 minutes bus ride and well worth 2 visits,1 to walk from the harbour area to the centre and the other to visit the excellent shopping centre.
All in all good value for money whilst present rates continue.Whilst minor alterations and experience should be able to improve things I cannot help wondering why the Cordial Group have risked their excellent reputation on an
hotel in a poor location in an indifferent resort with half its rooms without a view.

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms overlooking the pool area have the best view and the most sun
