Spent 14 days with my 18 year old daughter and we both had a wonderful holiday. Plenty of food and large choice, nice room with cool balcony. Didn't see daughter much, she made friends with a group of German girls and all the entertainment team! Plenty of clubs in Costa calma for the teenagers. Only negative had to pay for safe and wifi. Would go back again. Day at Oasis Park zoo well worth it with free coach from hotel. It's cheaper to buy your tickets from Thomas Cook rep than pay on the door. Bus ride into nearby town Jandia which has lots of shops and bars. Could easily have stayed another week. Plenty of choice of sun loungers with umbrellas both by pools and on beach even at 11am. Plenty of activities during day and some good evening entertainment.

Just spent 11 nights at SBH Costa Calmer Palace it is a truly stunning location right on the beach. Staff are very friendly & all able to speak English very well. Food is a bit of a free for all & you soon learn not to be polite (because the German's do not have ant manners) there are a lot of German's it appears to be geared up just for them, but when you step back it's not really, food was lovely with a very wide selection of different foods, some freshly cooked. Pancakes for breakfast with a glass of champagne is lush!! The Wifi is total rubbish & very slow but the bars outside the Hotel have free Wifi which is much faster, the bar directly opposite the supermarket is nice with a very hot Italian barman who makes the very best Mojito's I have ever had. Because of the World Cup all the bars had the football on. Our room was on the 6th floor & we had a beautiful view of the complex & the Atlantic. Super walks along the beach, you can walk for miles with just a bit of rock climbing, if your able, their are also a lot of nudist just walking around on the beach which is a bit of a shock at first, then it just becomes the norm!! Quite Hotel at night not a lot going on but that suited us. There is only 3 English channels on the TV, BBC World News, Sky News & one other which didn't work, loads of German & Spanish channels but hey we didn't really miss it. Please go to this Hotel & enjoy the wonderful weather, beaches & of course the food & drink which could not be faulted. Bon Voyage & enjoy

Room Tip: Ask for 6th floor or up for best views, sit back & relax

Beachfront location a plus, rooms very clean, quiet area. However this is a very large property which was full when I stayed there; this meant that the only restaurant was very big and very busy. All meals are buffet style which meant a lot of walking to and fro for food - the food was quite good, if a little repetitive, with some selections freshly cooked in full view of guests.

Overall had a good holiday but if I was being picky I would say:-
- only one bar area in the evening so sometimes difficult to get served and the staff didn't seem to be able to spot who had been waiting longest
- not enough bar staff day or night
- cocktails were all pre mixed
- very little in terms of bars/shops/restaurants in the immediate are

On the plus side my friends and I were given a master suite at no extra charge as the hotel was full and they didn't have enough standard rooms.

Room Tip: Some rooms are a long way from bar/pool etc We were in 2076-S, a suite with two bedrooms, a large lo...

Nice location with great views. The hotel had everything that we needed. I was disappointed that the gym wasn't open longer but it helped me to go outside and run along the beach. The food was great with plenty of choice. Some nights they had a different theme. The Italian night was the best. Juan the chef made me an omelette every day. The room was spotlessly clean with a great view. On my birthday the hotel staff sang to me and gave me a bottle of champagne. Lots of sport activities every day to enjoy. Really enjoyed how all the different cultures mixed well in the hotel.

We chose this resort based on the reviews that it was quite and relaxing, which proved correct. We were upgraded on arrival, still don't know why, but it meant we could use sister hotels around the resort. The hotel is well laid out, clean and tidy, plenty of sun beds and drinks available most of the time. The food is ok, plenty of salads etc, but not much variety for vegetarians. When we asked the restaurant manager if they could do a main vege dish, he said they couldn't cater for everyone? But it did improve slightly, so on the whole we never went hungry. The drinks were ok, the draught beer was fine but the spirits were weak, had to get doubles to taste them. The entertainment is very poor, most guest seem happy to sit in the lobby bar and talk or play cards, as it is usually too windy to sit outside. The bar in the neighbouring hotel is nicer, but as most hotels, is 90% German guests, it is worth a look in at a little bar in the Sotovento shopping centre, traditional flamenco guitars, good singers, hams hanging from the ceiling and friendly staff. The beach goes on for miles, nice for a stroll to feed the chipmunks, or find a little beach bar. We wouldn't go back, not because of the hotel, but the persistent winds leave you covered in sand.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor above 3rd floor

Recently returned on 25th June after staying for 14 nights. It was a great hotel, with excellent food with a good variety of choices. There was a wide choice of drinks that were available not just local beverages, and cocktails were included within the package. However, there is a dress code that is in place at dinner time, this is longer shorts, trousers for men. This is not stated when I booked this hotel, so my partner did not bring any longer shorts/trousers. This resulted in having encounters with the hotel director, which spoilt our holiday. This is because of his attitude towards my partner and I was extremely rude, he informed us on the first night that my partner could wear shorts below the knee, so the second night he did this, however, the director then contradicted himself by saying longer shorts or trousers, which we did not bring. However, whilst we were discussing this issue with the director, he let other male guests into the restaurant in the same type of shorts as my partner wore, but refused us entry until 20:30, this was sometimes inconvenient for us. The room was cleaned to a high standard, with little surprises of towel art by the maids. The entertainment team worked extremely hard, especially Faithi, who is the entertainment manager, who always made the effort to speak to all of the guests. There were 4 pools around the hotel that were all clean with plenty of sun beds around each of them, also there was a nice beach area that was also clean. There is a charge for Wi-Fi, which is expensive. There is a restaurant/bar that provides free Wi-Fi which is called Avenida. However, the hotel is tailored to suit Germans, as there were a few notices that were only written in German. I would recommend this hotel, as all of the staff work extremely hard to ensure you have a lovely holiday, but please take note of the dress code to use the restaurant at dinner. Also, I would recommend the Oasis Park Safari Park, which there is a free transfer from the hotel at two different times in the morning. This is a great day out with four brilliant shows on throughout the day, also I would recommend going on a camel ride which is included with the safari park. Costa Calma is very quiet and there is not a lot of things to do within the resort, there are a few restaurants, bars and shops that are around the resort.

For a first holiday away with my boyfriend it was a lovely week away - hotel was much lovelier than expected for the price we paid. Right on the beach front and two spacious swimming pools. One on higher level and one below. Beach bar was good, but mainly catered for more basic drinks - fizzy, Amstel on tap and water, cocktails at an additional price.
The food was not the hotels best asset, not great but ok for what we were after as a young couples first holiday away. A variety of foods on different/alternative nights which I was not expecting. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Maids did a perfect job and made nice little touches when cleaning. Would recommend visiting the Zoo (transfers available from the hotel easily) was a fun day out.
The surrounding environment was not all that busy, holiday is good if you do not wish to leave the hotel very often, a few shops and restaurants but nothing that lively. would recommend going in July onwards as the breeze from the beach front was very windy and some days overcast.
Finally, TAKE NOTE that the hotel restaurant (used for breakfast, lunch and dinner) did not allow my boyfriend to attend dinner without trousers/jeans on and refused him entrance because he only brought long shorts. We had to wait later to go into the restaurant to eat because of this, so remember long trousers!

Room Tip: Would ask to have a room facing beach or front of the hotel as we were placed next to the restaurant...
