Costa Calma Palace is excellent. Hotel was lovely and beach amazing. Remember to wear long trousers for dinner though.

Room Tip: Rooms in the middle are quieter

Costa Calma is a quiet and scenic resort near to Jandia. There are a number of small shopping malls in the area in addition to restaurants and "tacky" souvenir shops. The hotel is in an ideal location overlooking the beach. The majority of the guests were middle aged and German but always polite and friendly.
Whilst the reception area is somewhat underwhelming the rest of the hotel is attractively designed and spotlessly clean. The bedrooms are of a reasonable size, with adequate furnishing and a decent sized balcony.
The staff are very attentive and friendly and we found the reception staff to be extremely helpful and efficient.
The food was excellent with a huge choice of dishes, with up to five chefs cooking the food whilst you waited ensuring that it was always hot and freshly cooked.
If you are looking for a quiet and relaxed holiday then you should seriously consider this hotel.

Only good things to say about the hotel - lovely beach location for watersports and good quality and variety of food.

Room Tip: Go for rooms on the higher floors for better views.

This is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in recently.
We travelled with Thomas Cook and the flights were fine, but the booking system was the worst we’ve experienced. One part of this problem was the room description “side” view. When we got there the receptionist described our room as an “economy” room and we would therefore advise an upgrade, unless you are happy looking at the entry corridors for the 3rd floor and peeking at the sea above its roof in the far distance!
That said, the room was comfortable and well appointed, with the usual room and bathroom features, but the welcome addition of sun loungers on the balcony rather than chairs. The rooms were cleaned daily and the “towel art” was exceptional. Towels were changed on demand and additional pool towels were available for a deposit and a 1euro “changing” fee.
The grounds of the hotel were spacious and quiet (much to our taste) and there are lots of different areas available for sunbathing. We found the pools very cold, but they were clean and there was always the option of a free swim in the heated Spa pool. Thankfully there was no sunbed scramble; you could always seem to get a bed wherever you wanted at all times of the day.
The food was very good. One of us has diabetes and so the “diet corner” was a welcome sight. We could both find more than enough choices of food at dinner time, with lots of show cooking stations. Breakfast was similar, catering for all choices and including free cava for those who wanted it! Generally speaking the food was also the hottest we’ve experienced recently, another very big plus point in our view.
Throughout the common areas of the hotel there were lots of comfortable places to sit. You never felt that it was crowded and these areas were light and spacious. Bar service was fairly standard and prices seemed very reasonable.
Wifi was available at a charge for the week. At first we found it was inconsistent, but it did get better as the week went on and we were able to get what we wanted in the way of signal both in the public areas and in our room.
The entertainment was mixed. The main acts were very good, but were only provided on four of our seven nights. The “house duo” changed three times in our week and none of them were particularly good. This is an area that the hotel could perhaps look to improve. There was also a pianist in the downstairs bar area and he was moderate, although lots of people seemed to sit and listen to him during the evening. Thankfully, from our point of view, there wasn’t an entertainment team constantly going round the pool during the day touting for custom – a big bonus in our eyes, although we appreciate that other people enjoy this aspect of their holiday.
For the information of British guests going to this hotel, the vast majority of guests appeared to be German. They were really friendly and made every effort to converse wherever you were. We found this really nice, but recognise that for some people this might be a factor in deciding where they book. Also the age range of the guests was vast, from babies to octogenarians, so this wouldn’t be the place for anyone looking for a raucous time!
Costa Calma itself is a fairly low key resort. This hotel has shopping (including a supermarket) on its doorstep and is only a short walk to other shopping areas. Car hire is available in the centre next to the hotel and there is plenty of parking on site. The beach is superb and there is access to it from the hotel grounds via your key card.
All in all this is an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrade from the "side" view room - it's an economy room on floor 4 with a lousy view!

My husband and I have just returned last Wed (04.04.12) from this lovely hotel. Although we were not placed in a high floor as we requested at our travel agents we had a wonderful room with a beautiful view overlooking the pool and onto the beach and sea.
The bedrooms could be a little more upmarket decor wise but they were cleaned to a high standard and we even had towel decorations in the en suite.
Nothing was any bother to the excellant staff who spoke wonderful German,French,Italian, English.
The dining room was a wonderful experience. The choice of food was amazing and always freshly cooked and beautifully presented.
The bar areas were also excellant with the staff there very professional but with a lovely sense of humour. It was a shame everyone seemed to go to bed early.
The evening entertainment was of a good standard but the live bands were very popular but did not last very long, i.e. played for only 45 minutes and that was the end of their show! That was the only disappointing aspect of the holiday.
It was a change to have so many Europeans in the hotel but it was lovely so mix with different people from different countries.
The hotel made our last night special in the dining room as it was our aniversary and a birthday, they put a candle and flowers on the table and also an complimentary bottle of cava.
I would recommend this hotel to people who do want to chill out and do not want or need a lot of events organised for them.
Can't wait till I return there again,
Fiona from Sharnbrook,England

Placed directly on the beach this hotel is perfect for people who enjoy bathing, swimming and sun. 80 % of the guests are german. Almost no children when we were there, a week between school holidays maybe.
It is a very tranquil atmosphere with many elderly people. When my wife and I arrived there were a bunch of german pensionistas in the lobby. They looked at us, both i n our early sixties, as if they though that "Shall our nice hotel turn into a youth hostel?"
The food is average and the staff in the restaurant friendly and professional. Price level rather high. Our room was very nice with a stunning view from sixth floor.
