“Nice area but average decor”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

This hotel is in a good area, right next to the beach and walkable distance to the famous night clubs. There are club tickets available to buy at the hotel conceirge. Hotel looks clean and simple with a nice balcony. They have good facilities like tennis court and a pool also nice outdoor restaurant and a golf putting area. The blanket is very thin in the room so it can be a little cool for some. The food is nice but it will be cheaper to eat just outside of the hotel along the beach. Excellent breakfast, plenty of choices I think this is the breakfast with the most varieties /i have been so far.

Stayed for a week, rooms nice and maid service good, however the reception staff are rude. 4 euros per day for a safe in a 4 star hotel! Breakfast was poor and they clear up early around you. Asked for soft drinks in mini bar to be diet, reception said they would write a note but it wouldn't happen. Disappointing considering the very high price.

Went for our wedding anniversary, hotel was lovely, clean, very contemporary & stylish, would definitely book again and I don't say that many times. Sea view was spectacular and the surrounding gardens and sun lounge area was very 5 star indeed!
We stated it was our special wedding anniversary but no special favours were honoured so apart from that we had an excellent enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must

Stayed in Ibiza for two nights. Hotel was pretty private and quiet but an easy 10 minute walk to Ibiza Town or to retail/amenities strip. It's about a 10-15 minute taxi ride from airport, which is roughly about 10 to 15 euros. Did not get a chance to experience the pool or beach but our room had a beautiful sea view and we could see the pool from our balcony - which looked really nice and clean. The service at front desk was super friendly and informative. Can also purchase tickets to many of the parties and club events in Ibiza. Taxis come quite often and front desk can also call a taxi for you (max 5 min wait time). Free wifi is a plus as well. The hotel rooms are pretty modern looking and washroom nicely designed and clean.

The Hotel Torre Del Mar was a perfect place for my wife and I this week, being ideally situated between Playa d'en Bossa (for party nights) and Ibiza town's charming culture and restaurants, both of which were in a reasonable walking distance (25 minutes or so).
The decor as you walk in is quite old fashioned and traditional in style, as is much of the ground and lower floor, nevertheless as soon as you arrive at your room floor, it is much more modern and contemporary in style.
The bedrooms are well equipped with huge comfortable beds and a flat screen TV. The bathrooms are also very modern, well laid out and the showers are superb.
Our room overlooked the sea and was perfect to watch the sun rise, offering views from the Ibiza Town harbour through to Ushuaia in Playa d'en Bossa. Despite being on the main flight route to ibiza airport, it was soundproofed to the point that you didn't notice. To be honest, I think this is one of the charms of Playa d'en Bossa in the first place having enjoyed the old terrace at Space when I was younger (if you had that pleasure, you'll know what I mean).
The pool was very pleasant and the staff extremely friendly all around the restaurant, not that we spent much of our time there with the beach being so close.
Finally it is important to mention the breakfasts. Plenty of choice regardless of your taste and very well laid out in a buffet service.
This was our first experience at the Torre Del Mar and I expect to be there again. Very good value, well located and a tasty breakfast to start your day too!

Well located hotel midway between the clubs of Space and Bora Bora and Ibiza town. Well located for Aqua bus to Ibiza town or Formentera. Close to airport, taxi around 10 - 15 mins at around 15 euro's.
Pools were great as was outside space. Breakfast room takes you back to the old ballroom days but works and has panoramic views of the ocean. Beach was clean but narrow, sea clean. Plenty of nice bars and restaurants close by within 2 mins walk either way. Balcony, room and bathroom were well presented, comfortable and extremely clean. Free wifi is available but works best in reception rather than in room.
A great hotel for any age.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the sea

Just got back from an enjoyable Ibiza stay.

Location:-

The hotel is slightly in no-mans land, about a 15 minute walk from the main Del Bossa strip and 25 minutes from the old town. The taxi from the airport took around 10-15 minutes.

The area around the hotel isn't the best, it felt a bit run down and the beach area was disappointing. This was countered by the proximity of the ferry jetty - it was a couples of minutes from the hotel. If you had a room over looking the sea (which was lovely) you could spot the boats coming into dock and actually reach it by the time it arrived which was very handy. There was a fairly regular sight and sound of planes taking off from the nearby airport but this did not bother us too much.

Inside the hotel

The hotel is a mixture of seventies decor and modern updates. If you were to stick to your own floor and room you would think you were in modern and stylish hotel. The landings were tastefully decorated ans the rooms were very comfortable and modern - certainly no complaints there.

It was this modern surrounds that made the contrast to other parts of the hotel seem more dated than they were. The stairways seemed outdated - demonstrated by the odd selection of dated pictures and worn carpet. The aged visual was also complimented by a slightly stale smell. This continued onto other parts of the hotel - there were some large seating areas but these were mainly deserted due to the odd selection of dated future and musky smell. The signs around the hotel did seem very dated. This theme continued on the basement floor - there was apparently a gym and relaxation areas but these were not particularly appealing due to the dated nature and strange layout. This was replicated with the indoor swimming pool which did not look tempting and this was proved by the fact i never saw anyone use it.

The Outdoor areas

The pool was decent albeit slightly small. There was never a shortage of sun-beds as these extended to lawn areas which was quite spacious. There was no real issue of early sunbed sealers. The areas was quite relaxing, no music playing or organized events. Though this can been seen as a positive there was no 'atmosphere' around this area The outdoor bar areas seemed nice enough.

Breakfast

A very pain free experience. There were always plenty of tables, there was no guess work on the first day and there was a decent selection of cold food (less so hot food). The location was very pleasant with views over the water. The orange juice was orange juice (not flavoured water) and the coffee machines made things easier. Despite the toasting machine not being very good at toasting there were very few negatives.

The highlights:-
- The view from the room
- Proximity of the ferries
- 4 free drinks in the room every day!
- Free Wi-fi (very handy)

The low lights -

- The rooms are not very well insulated. The door is particular bad - it's almost as it they forgot to put sound-proofing in. You can hear any slight noise from the corridor. I was woken at least once every night by people coming home from night outs. It is pot luck who is on your floor but based on the fact that the clubs are walkable expect to woken up.

- If the hotel could sort out the confused decor it would make this a decent four star hotel. Some of the areas are not that enticing to spent time in.

- The charge to use the safe was unreasonable. (4 euros a day).

Summary

Overall we had a pleasant stay. If I was coming back to Ibiza I would probably choose a hotel in a different location but if you can get over the immediate surrounds it provides a good base to explore the island.

Room Tip: Sea facing room at far ends (to reduce corridor noise)
