“Nice little cafe on the Main Street”
Reviewed 9 January 2014 via mobile

Ended up at Banana Pepper cafe by chance. It was relatively busy and no free car parks outside so we thought it would be worth a go.

They have a lovely selection of food including club sandwiches, wraps, pies and sweets. Their sweet pies looked really good too but we weren't there for sweets. The coffee was delicious and came out quickly.

The staff were very friendly, and the place was clean and tidy.

Would go back just to try their sweet pies. The kids really enjoyed their hot chocolates too.

“Excellent place.”
Reviewed 2 October 2013 via mobile

Great food, great value, great staff. We had lunch while passing through. I would say this has to be the pick of the Main Street cafés.

“Raspberry tart to die for”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

What great value this gem is. And my raspberry and custard tart was amazing. Less than $4 and it was brimming with raspberries and creamy custard. Lots to choose from here and I will be back!

“Worth travelling from Brisbane for your vegie muffins”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

We were in NZ in 2009, but incessant wet weather made our trip less than spectacular. However, we found Banana Pepper by chance, and it was good enough to be part of why we returned in April this year. Their Lamb and mint pies are excellent, but the vegetable muffins are just awesome!
We found their service to be impeccable and friendly, and were happy to recommend them to a fellow traveller (a Kiwi business traveller) at our motel- and were pleased to run into her again as we bought our travelling supplies of muffins and pies, and she was enjoying a great breakfast in B/P.
We look forward to returning regularly, for the NZ hospitality AND the brilliant food. Keep up the wonderful work!

“Fruit Tarts to die for!”
Reviewed 3 May 2013

Not only is the service is this place amazing, the fruit tarts are the best I have ever eaten. Small enough for one person! The vegetable soup was delicious, the coffee was scrumptious but the tarts were sooooo good that I brought some more to take home for the family. A definite must visit place if you find yourself hungry in WAihi.
