My husband and I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of October for 3 nights during our honeymoon, and both of us were very happy here.

THE STAFF: We were always treated warmly and professionally by the staff, who patiently answered all of our questions.

LOCATION: As others have said before, the hotel is just a 2-3 minute walk to the beach, and a 3-4 minute walk to the bus stop into Mykonos town (which runs every 1/2 hour, and costs 1.40 Euro, I think). Platis Gialos beach itself is very crowded with lots of beach umbrellas and a strip of tavernas right along the beach, but since it was the off-season, we didn't find the beach crowded at all. Although this was advertised as a "family-friendly" beach, we did see one woman sunning herself topless. Not a big deal for us, but just an FYI for those with children.

ROOMS: Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a superior suite with our own pool, which was a pleasant surprise! The room itself was quite large, even for American standards. It had a seperate seating area, and our patio was complete with two sun loungers and a fabric canopy for shade from the sun, when necessary. The bathroom was surprisingly basic, but clean and roomy, and offered a HUGE assortment of different soaps, lotions, shampoos, conditioners, etc.

RESTAURANTS: We ate at the hotel restaurant our first night there since we checked in rather late and did not feel like finding our way around in the dark. The hotel restaurant food was very good, but we found it to be a bit overpriced for what we got (1 salad, 1 soup, 1 risotto, 1 glass of wine & 1 glass of water for 90 Euro!). Most of our other meals were eaten at the little tavernas on the beach in Platis Gialos, which we found reasonably priced and very good. We especially liked Nikos Gallop, and ate there several times.

Overall, this hotel was a very good choice for a nice, relaxing getaway. I would definately stay here again if traveling to Mykonos.

The Mykonian Ambassador Hotel in Plati Gialos is an amazing hotel for anyone looking for 5-star service and accommodations. My honeymoon stay in August 2008 was an incredible experience. The staff at the Mykonian were exceptionally professional and always ready at be of service for any of our requests or needs. The waiting staff was so friendly that we loved eating our dinners at the hotel.....and the food...what can I say...it was amazing. Every single dish we ordered just got better and better. Their all-inclusive breakfast was a feast every morning with fresh food and an incredible selection of everything you could want for breakfast. Although the rooms were alittle small, they definitely served their purpose and were very clean. My husband and I loved this hotel and would definitely go back again.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Myconian Ambassador for just a few days at the end of September and loved it. The location was perfect - just a few steps away from the beach and a short bus/taxi ride from town. The bus stop was only a 5 minute walk and cost approx 2 EUR to take into town. We often took a cab home, but that was only 6 EUR so either way it was pretty inexpensive.

The accomodations were luxurious as to be expected and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We upgraded to one of the rooms with a jacuzzi on the balcony - which I highly recommend. The room was so spacious, clean and gorgeous that I didn't want to leave. Mykonos was our first island on our trip and the other hotels didn't even measure up to the Myconian Ambassador.

We didn't spend much time at the pool, but it looks gorgeous. The only complaint I would have is that we ate at the pool bar for lunch and the food was a bit expensive for what we got. I would recommend getting up for the free breakfast (which was delicious) and then holding out for a large dinner in town.

All in all our stay was amazing and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Mykonos.

Great hotel and service. Very good breakfast. Very good swimming pool. Only 10 minutes walking to the nearest beach and 15 minutes away from bus stop (to go mykonos city and other beaches). Internet access was expensive (6 eur/hour).

We booked this hotel through our travel agent. After arriving at the port with no paid transfer, we phoned the hotel and they sent their van within minutes to pick us up. We were charged 12E , but a taxi with 2 suitcases would have been the same or close to that rate. Upon arrival, the bellman greeted us with a tray of cold towels to refresh ourselves as we checked in. Our room was not ready (we don't know exactly why), so they upgraded us to a suite with our own private balcony pool which was shared with the suite next to us. The next day we were moved to our category room, but it too had a pleasant view of the sea and though smaller was quite adequate for our needs. The service at this hotel is superb! They really adhere to their goal of making you feel like family. It is privately owned, and is located just steps away from Platis Gialos beach. We did have two meals in the hotel restaurant which is situated next to their pool area. Both were excellent. Again, table side at dinner, we were greeted with the tray of cold cloths to wash hands.

The grounds are just gorgeous. They have thought of every little detail. The walls and floors are marble in many places with beautiful tile work in the halls and the rooms. There is even a tennis court on the fourth level.

Poolside, we were treated to having our sunglasses cleaned and free iced tea. They just seem to know what you need.

When checking out, they do point out that you can add extra for the staff, as no tips are expected during your stay.

Their breakfast buffet is just luscious. It has everything from several types of eggs, to stuffed grape leaves, raw salmon, crepes, veggies, several cheeses, fruit, cereal, pastries, breads, jams. You could eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here, but alas, it it only open breakfast hours, closing at 10:30.

Unforuntately, we did not avail ourselves of any of the spa offerings, but just to go down to the spa was a calming experience. You must get your beach towels and return them there if you are not booked in a high category room. I'm sure their services are top notch as is everything about this hotel. You will not be disappointed staying here. Their website states that this is a 5* boutique hotel. It was definitely world class!

One note, the front desk staff can book tours, rent cars, etc. We did rent a car through them, but feel we were ripped off. For an automatic Smart Car, we paid 75E for one day. The guy at First Car Rental originally wanted 85E until we balked. We should have walked out and gotten our own car somewhere else. There is a car rental place down from the bus stop not far from this hotel, but with a lot of expensive hotels in this area, we're not sure if the rate would've been better so close to the hotel. Maybe closer to town. The front desk quoted us 60E, but we didn't specifiy automatic. We still thought 60E was expensive. What the hotel rental does do is pick you up and bring you back from their office when you rent; still we felt it was a rip-off. Do not assume anything. Always specify what you want and ask questions.

Having said that, we would definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends. Book a lower category room if you can't afford the higher rates. You will get most of the amenities of the higher rated rooms and the superior quality service and ambiance of this hotel.

I am not related to anyone connected with this hotel. My husband and I were first-time travelers to Europe.
