“Fabulous hotel, recommended”
Reviewed 26 April 2009

Went for one week in April with my 9 year old daughter. Booked a twin room but on arrival were pleasantly surprised to be given a suite, with lounge and bedroom.
The rooms were clean, as was the bathroom, we had shampoo and shower/bath gel provided. Towels were changed every day and the room was always clean when we returned. One day my little girl split gel on the bed and they changed it without question.
The food was plentiful and varied even for my fussy eater daughter. I dont understand what some people moan about, okay its not a 5 star hotel, but for what we paid it was excellent. We had a great view, above the pool and down to the harbour. The staff were friendly, although the barman at dinner time couldve smiled more!
It took a while to book in, but then a lot of us arrived at the same time and they only had two booking computers.
The main lifts from ground floor to 7 were being refurbed, so we had to use the service lifts, but if they get you to your floor, what does it matter?
We had a great time and would definitely go back again.

Good points hotel in good position rooms good and clean
Food wise this is the worst I have had in any hotel and I am not a fussy eater this is the first time I have had to buy meals out
Los Cristianos is a lovely resort with plenty of bars and restaurants (which you will need)
For a cheap drink try ED'S bar left down hill 1euro local lager or 2euro carling for kareoke try The White Swan follow path at side of pool or for entertainment Buddie's Bar on the front

Booked for three weeks taking in Christmas New Year and Three Kings
It took three days and six room changes before we got a suitable room two rooms on floor 14 one room on floor 2, two rooms on floor 1, finally floor five a perfect room at last

The food was awful menu repeated every few days liver and onions - steak and kidney pie but no pastry to be seen. Food was often overcooked, mainly everything was stewed or braised never saw any carved meats.
Never saw any roasted or boiled potatoes in the three weeks we were there
Salads were okay but there is only a certain amount you want as this never changed
Breakfast was often overdone sausage, greasy bacon, cold beans, but nice eggs, with fly infested stale bread by the toaster.
On Christmas day many guests were refused a Christmas dinner as the management said it was an extra cost of 49 Euros per person, (however it was not worth even ten euros)
Ladies were dressed up to the nines but refused entrance followed by tears; these people had paid travel agents for bed breakfast and evening meal and had expected Christmas dinner.
The Christmas meal was rubbish stewed turkey knuckle (the bit we in the UK give the cat or dog) the soup was okay, there was no Christmas atmosphere within the dining room it was just like any other day.

The food was so bad we started to eat out every few days, many guests told us they had been coming for years but it was that bad now they would never come back.
The lifts were forever broken down. The settees in the bar many were ripped and in a shabby state.
But the staff were very nice and helpful but even they seemed ashamed of the food that was presented for us to eat.

With the euro being low drinks in the hotel were dear compared with UK, many disabled complained that the toilets for the dining room bars & reception areas were located down a flight of stairs were it was not possible for them to get to, as there were no lifts to the basement so they had to hope the lift was working and go back to their room to use the loo.
Also located downstairs was the sports bar – which is where the shows were on.
It would not take a lot to turn this hotel around but it needs new management and a good catering manager and a refit.
This was the first Sol Hotel we have stayed in but would be loathe to use another

Very nice 3* hotel. Staff pleasant. Rooms clean. Good selection in dining room. The hotel was in a very good position for walks to any of the beaches and shopping, hotel was on a bit of an incline, which might be a problem for some, but very easy for anyone used to normal walking conditions. We have stayed in many 3 and 4 star hotels and would rate this as a good 3 star. We cant understand any of the compaints, as our experience was very good. People seem to expect an awful lot of hotels which are catering for a lot of people. Maybe they should look for something which would suit their tastes better before they book. We enjoyed our holiday here!

This hotel is great and i would highly reccomend it to anyone!
It is excellent for families as this hotel is flinstones themed during the summer they have kids clubs but they still do activities in the winter for the kids.
On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who processed us very quickly and gave us the keys to our rooms. We were allocated rooms on the 10th floor but this did not cause an issue apart from there only being 2 kifts sometimes you had to wait 5 minutes but this wasnt a big issue. we arrived to the room and we had requested a cot and there wasnt one in the room a quick visit to reception there was a cot in the room wen we got back up stairs.
The food in the hotel rest is fantastic always hot with temperature displays so u can see how hot the food is, theres always a wide choice and they do themes throughout the week which gives great vareity. Breakast is also high standard with english sausage every other day which is hardy ever seen in spanish hotels.
The rooms are cleaned every day and towels too and toiletries are provided.

we stayed over christmas and the staff made it the best ever. There was a lot of thought and planning put into the festivities.
On xmas day they had santa for the children where they recived a little gift of some flinstones figures, they had champagne for the adults, christmas music round the pool and a gala dinner in the evening. The staff really made this holiday they were always smiling if you needed anything it was there done for you and they really made an effort to make it as festive as possible. evening entertainment is provide either dancing bingo and every other night a professional show
The hotel is in a great location with shops and rest 5 mins away and a walk into las americas takes aprox 30 mins.

Im trying to think if negatives for this hotel but i really dont think there are any ???
I hope you will consider staying at this hotel as we had a fantastic stay and a great xmas...

We stayed at the hotel for only one night.
They gave us a beautiful suite on the 13 floor with enchanting views of Los Cristianos' port. We payed for a standard room and we had a "suite"!! Moreover, in the price dinner and lunch was included. Very goog relation between quality and price!
The hotel is very clean and the staff very kind.

Yes it was only a three star so we were only expecting as such. The hotel itself is old but we liked it. The staff were nice and there was a good atmosphere. Rooms were small but were very clean and the daily cleaning service was excellent. We stayed for 14 nights which was far too long to be sleeping in the most uncomfortable beds ever. They were as hard as rocks. We requested a room on the 1st floor overlooking the pool which I was surprised we actually got. We went B & B but ended up going down to the excellent local restaurants for a wonderful breakfast brunch. Only €2.95 exc tea for a hugh plate of cooked breakfast. The breakfast in the hotel was only ok but after 4/5 mornings of it, we just couldn't face it anymore. With regards to the pool, it was like ice and hardly anyone used it. Overall we would rate the hotel 5 out of 10. If you don't mind a hard bed and are not into the pool and don't much care for a hot breakfast, we would recommend this hotel for value for money. However we will probably look into renting an apartment and go self catering next time.
