When we arrived at first to villa mandi the staff we some kind and helpful and the reps got us straight into the local places and the many things the island had to offer, this has been our second time on the island and they never disappoint although the walk to the beach was a nightmare we had to call a taxi every time which arrived seconds after calling it. There were two bedroom in our apartment and to be honest it felt like home to us. when we arrived we went straight to where we knew which was the beach front and the restaurant abora.

Really nice hotell, clean, big nice room, nice staff, good pool area, nice view, we heard that the golf area was very good, but we didn´t golf. About 20 minutes of walk to the beach. We had a really nice terrace on the roof of our room too :-) Nice little tivoli 15 minutes of walk from the hoell, the kids loved it. LOs Christianos is about 10 minutes with taxi from Las Americas, but we thought it was much better in Los Christianos.

Stayed at the Villa Mandi for 11 nights and had a good time. Hotel and grounds kept very clean although we did find the maid service a bit hit and miss some days. Towels were changed regularly but the beds were left unmade on 2 occasions. The appartments are very big and comfortably held 3 adults, with a twin bedroom and a decent pullout bed under the sofa. Large screen TV with most uk channels and a good kitchen area, although I think you would struggle to 'cook' a meal on the 2 ring hob. Bathroom and shower were great. There are 2 swimming pools, one boisterous and one supposedly quieter, although this wasn't always the case. Sunbeds were a bit of an issue though and if you didn't get one by 9am you could forget it till late afternoon. Unfortunately witnessed a lot of bed reserving by people who then didn't use them until well into the afternoon. Umbrellas were also scarce and probably only equated to 1 for every 6 or 7 beds, which meant a lot of families with young children had no shade to sit them in. Whilst lying by the pool you can see quite a few beds/umbrellas on the unused roof terraces that are attached to some of the rooms. Maybe more effort to return these to the poolside by the hotel staff would help. The Thomson staff are brilliant with the children and anyone with a young family would have a great time here. If peace and quiet is your desire though I would consider elsewhere. The location isn't ideal in relation to the beach/nightlife and is easily a good 20 walk, sometimes more. Didn't find this too bad overall but was a little difficult in the heat. Tended to walk to the resort in evening and get taxi back which cost around 5 euros. Found some great restaurants and can recommend Oliver's and Balti Balti especially. Didn't really eat at hotel so can't comment on the food although the 1 pizza we did have was ok. Loro Parque was a great day out as was Siam Water Park. We managed to get a twin ticket for both parks for €58 each from a tour operator on the Vista Beach front ( Thomson charge €75). If you go to Siam Park, go early. Book a taxi and prepay for it at reception (€6). Get to park for about 9:45 and you will have about an hour before the main crowds arrive on the free bus (which doesn't come to the hotel anyway). We were able to do all the 'big' rides without queuing by doing this. Once the crowds arrived though the queues were about 40 minutes for each one. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and liked Tenerife very much and Villa Mandi is a good hotel allthough I would probably stop somewhere else if we return.

We have just returned from a holiday at Villa Mandi June 2012, the weather was fantastic, the hotel was clean. Our room was 115, it was very spacious and just by the pool. The reception staff were very helpful. The entertainment team was very good, especially zip zap Zoe and the team. The holiday advisers, Victor and Clint, were always on hand and helped out with any enquires we had with a big smile and a good welcome.
We visited Loro Park, which was an enjoyable day, especially the whale show, be warned about the seats at the front as you will get very wet!
We strongly reccomend the chinese, Slow Boat, which had a resturant but also delivered to your hotel room free of charge, and the food was always hot and tasty.

Visited last wk in June.Wonderful hotel and staff. The apartment (Room 323) was large, had air conditioning, flat screen tv and overlooked the pool, and with wonderful views of the golf course. The walk to Los Cristianos, we looked forward to each evening, as we always dined out (but did take taxis back late at night). The Thomson reps excelled in their duties and always approachable. Siam Water Park is a 6 euro taxi from hotel.

We (a family of 2 adults and 2 little ones + grandma) have just returned from the Villa Mandi where we stayed for a week.

The hotel itself was lovely, definately one of the nicest in the area and probably the best for families with children. We paid 106E for an upgrade and I would say if you have small kids it is definately worth it. My mum was in a standard room and the balcony was small and didnt really get much sun during the day. We were in room 301 which had a wrap around balcony overlooking the beautiful golf course, I think we probably had the best views in the hotel and because it wasnt on the roadside or near the bar/pool it was quiet at all times and had sun and shade all day. There was a flight of stairs up to the room so we had to carry the buggy up and down but that wasnt really a problem and definately worth the hassle in order to have a nice room.

The kitchen facilities were basic with just a 2 ring electric hob, a microwave, toaster and kettle. It was sufficient but limited our self catering meals to things like pasta.

The bathroom was nice with a powerful shower over the bath the only problem being that the shower curtain left a bit of a gap and the entire floor ended up soaked on a daily basis and being tiled it was VERY slippy!! Once we realised this we were just a bit more careful so it wasnt an issue.

Beds, sofa etc all very comfy... our 3 year old slept on the pull out bed under the settee and he was fine, I woud say that an adult couldnt sleep on there though.

The pools were amazing, 2 proper pools (1 of them a quieter one which people tended to keep their kids out of to allow adults a bit of peace and quiet) and 2 small puddle type pools for the kiddies. We never had a problem getting 4 sunbeds together and there was always a spare parasol but obviously it is not high season yet and I can imagine that if it was full it might have been harder to get a spot. There was a bit of sunbed reserving... No towels were allowed to be put down before 9am which was great but some familes were putting their towels down at 9 then going out for the day and only coming back to actually use the sunbeds at 3pm! Slightly annoying but I assume that if there were no free beds and you complained about it then something would be done.

We didnt use the kids club or creche as our children are only 3 and 1 and didnt fancy it but it looked fab with loads of activities on every day. Also the creche seemed quite expensive as that isnt included in the cost of the holiday unlike the kids club...but some people we met said they had saved about a 1/3 of the price by booking their sessions in bulk before they arrived.

Before we went to the Villa Mandi I read all the reviews and saw the negative comments about the walk into Los Cristianos and I honestly thought it was probably just lazy people but having been there i would be inclined to agree with them... It was a good half hour with a pushchair to get to the front and it wasnt a nice walk, not really anything pretty to look at and some of it was along unlit unused roads. We made it fun by lizard spotting on the couple of occassions that we walked it but then resorted to using taxis and the free bus service which goes down at 10.30 and 11.30 then back up at 17.30.

A mention has to be made of the taxi drivers who even locals described to us as a bunch of robbing ***********. We got a taxi back from the supermarket on the first day and didnt agree a price before hand (its usually 4E) the driver practically did tour de tenerife and tried to charge us 11E. We had this on a couple of occasions until we realised that the hotel recpetion is very aware of this situation and sells taxi tickets where you pay them for the journey and they give you a reciept to give the taxi driver. This is definately a must! If not then agree a pice before hand and make sure that the driver sees that you have a map with you and can follow his route by the names of the hotels.

The main negative for us and the reason that we wouldnt return is simply that we didnt like the area. We like picturesque and small and this wasnt! Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas merge into one and it was huge - there was no nice scenery and every square inch without a huge hotel on it looked like wasteland. Our favourite thing about going away is eating in the local restaurants and trying out traditional foods... on enquiring at reception where we could go that served good canarian food we were told that we wouldnt find any of that round there! She was right! We ate out 4 times and every time the food was overpriced and very disappointing. This is probably just down to personal taste but we have been to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote before and the area/food were far superior in our opinion, the area is very much aimed at the Brits, almost like Blackpool with sun.

In summary the thomson team were amazing and the hotel beautiful.... just wish we could have picked it up and moved it somewhere nicer!

Room Tip: 301 is quiet with a lovely balcony and views of the golf course but it is up a flight of steps and c...
