We travelled here as a Jet 2 package. Had never travelled with them before and were so impressed. Thomson and Thomas Cook better watch out cause Jet 2 customer care was excellent. After reading some of the posts we were a bit apprehensive but no worries. From check in to leaving, we really enjoyed themselves, so will get the few irritations out of the way. 1. Why put notices up saying not to reserve sun beds and not do anything about it when these are ignored. 2 Why ask gentlemen to wear long trousers at dinner and let men into the dining room at looking as if they has just walked off the beach. 3. We did come across a few dirty dushes but funnily it was all on the same day. 4. Our room was spotless with a sea view but as has been mentioned previously there is absolutely no sound proofing. In the toilet especially every noise can be heard! Other than those no complaints. The whole place was spotless, the staff so pleasant and friendly, the hotel situation is perfect. The food was better than some hotels we have been to. There was a previous comment about the individual dishes, we thought they were very nice and more hygenic as they was no cross usage of serving spoons. The staff were always around refilling and checking dishes. We did not speak to anyone with any complaints. Really enjoyed the Spanish guitarist but usually left before the entertainment started on the other evenings. Oh and there is no problem in taking your wine from the dining room over to the terrace to enjoy watching the sun go down.We certainly wil have no hesitation in returning

Room Tip: We had a room which was shaded in afternoon, we were very grateful for this as we hit a bit of a min...

We have just returned from our two weeks stay at Sol Menorca. We have stayed here numerous times over the last 14 or so years, sometimes twice a year and have always been extremely pleased with the experience. This time was a little different however. The Sol group in their infinite wisdom seem to think that if you have a roaring success you should change it ??? This hotel is targeted at adults only, but for some reason they seem to think that we want to stay in a beach hut environment instead of the four star quality hotel experience of the past. I have always admired the stylish construction and architecture of this building which was impressive and welcoming, when you walked through the front doors you could not fail to be impressed. Now it's almost Disney style with imitation wood vinyl flooring, imitation driftwood signs containing meaningless anecdotes (all in English and badly translated in some cases) attached to the magnificent marble pillars. They have even painted the beautiful green marble tiles which formed the external surround of the balcony doors over with emulsion, not to mention the terracotta tiles and everything that stood still white. What a shame!!!
As for the staff, the service and the location you could not fault it as usual. The food and entertainment however seems to have gone down market to join the look of the building. In the past the food was of much better quality and a better choice was offered. In our two week stay we saw prawns only once, and when I started helping myself I was aware that the amount I was putting on my plate was being scrutinised by the chef and got a glare from him. Perhaps self serve now means self restrict in quantity? I ignored and carried on. The meat was always varied especially if you like chicken, I never saw one on the island, I recon they had all been slaughtered for kitchen, but there was a lack of flavour everywhere as far as food went this year. The entertainment had been changed totally with mostly solo instrumental classical guitarists or saxophone etc. We were told that they no longer wanted to have tribute acts and the like and were trying to move up market with it, But although very good you can only listen to so much of that thing, and not night after night. So mostly we and most of the other guests wanting entertainment went to the hotel next door or the new bar Bucca down the street to find it. Towards the end of our stay they did start to listen to the entertainment complaints which had been fed back to the Tomson rep and the in house reps Miriam & Michaela and changed the program to include the local group Huacane who were very good and we had seen at the hotel next door the week before. Lets hope they see the light and continue to improve the acts.
All in all a good holiday with some reservations about the changes, but you can not beat the setting and the lack of screaming children. We will be back but don't change it too much please Sol

Returned two days ago from the resort of Sant Tomas. Ideal holiday location, but the Sol Menorca, (Sol Beach House Menorca) where we stayed was a bit of a disappointment. Great position for the main beaches, and walking along the paved stretch that runs parallel with the beach.
The hotel food was much to be desired, either under or over cooked, tinned tuna and sardines? and some of the crockery was dirty, I removed some of the dirty plates only to see
them being replaced as soon as my back was turned.
Our room was on the East side but with a good sea view, and the room was very clean, the
balcony shutter doors would not close but did not hinder our view.
We booked this hotel because it was adults only, which was true, and therefore very relaxing.
The hotel would be better if a good P.R man was about. I costs nothing to ask quests staying
there where and if improvements could be made.
Shame really nice holiday spoilt by lack of attention to detail.

Room Tip: East side of the hotel is quieter, and not above the music/dance floor area.

We found this a very friendly and welcoming hotel. The staff were always smiling and willing to help whenever they could.

We were very happy with our room which even though we were told it was no sea-view gave us views of the sea in two directions. Being at the top of our block and at the end we had very little trouble with noisy neighbours or privacy and if we went back would happily get that room again. We even had morning and evening sun which most of the rooms didn't.

There was plenty of food but unfortunately they don't seem to know how to prepare veg on a large scale. My friend is vegetarian and had problems trying to work out what had meat in it especially as the staff weren't sure either. A little v sign by each dish would have helped a lot. If I had stayed for two weeks I would have got a bit disappointed in the food as it was pretty much the same each night. Did get to have prawns one night and squid two nights during the week which was lovely! Big bonus was the bucks fizz every morning - very nice!

The resort was better than we expected. Lovely and quiet with beautiful walks amongst the spring flowers. Scenery does not diasppoint and neither do the beaches. If you do your research then you shouldn't be let down by lack of nightclubs and shops. We weren't!

I would visit the area again, but maybe self-catering next time as HB is not fair on veggies.

Room Tip: Go for 264! Cheap and cheerful!

Dear Sally F

Many thanks for your lovely feedback about your recent stay in Sol Beach House Menorca, as well for the comments about the staff, the room, seaviews and location.

We are sorry for the inconveniences caused to the vegetarian person and we try to expand our offerings in these kind of dishes.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. It is in a lovely location. Lots of nice beaches and walks. Unfortunately the rooms and balconies are not so peaceful or private ! You can hear lots of noise from neighbouring rooms eg.toilet flushing, shower, snoring, tv etc. We were unlucky and had inconsiderate and loud oaps next to us and what sounded like a herd of elephants above !
Be careful in the restaurant, plates and cutlery were often dirty ! I did mention this but nobody seemed to do anything about it. Although there was lots of choice the quality of the food was not always great.
I agree with the other reviews about the white painted terra cotta tiles. It looks like they have tried to update the hotel to look like a 'beach house'. Hence the change of name, but it doesnt quite work. We would probably not stay here again.

Room Tip: Dont have side seaview as balconies are not very private !

We stayed at this hotel during half term as I have to take school holidays. We were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday and also our wedding anniversary. I was so disappointed. The hotel itself is in a fantastic position but I have to agree with others that the food quality lets this hotel down. Why you would serve frozen vegetables when there should be an abundance of lovely fresh produce is beyond me. Also salad choice wasn't very inspiring. The grill section was always empty the chef doing the cooking was so slow that I just couldn't be bothered to wait, I must say I have stayed in three star hotels and had better. On a positive note the housekeeping was very good. One last comment..... who's idea was it to paint the beautiful teracotta tiles white? Big mistake!

Room Tip: If you like sun on the balcony choose a side sea view

Any hotel review is subjective (people's expectations and requirements of a holiday vary enormously). I cannot comment on evening entertainment since I prefer to sit quietly in my room reading my book. Those concerned about a room with decent sea view should research the different options beforehand. We had a superior room with large balcony, facing the sea and well worth the extra charge. If you only need a room for limited use, ie to sleep, then opt for the cheapest on offer. As this is a four star hotel we felt the restaurant let it down, with dreary brown tables decorated with a pot of plastic grass, plastic wipeable table mats and cheap paper cloths. The breakfast selection, although varied, was not of the standard experienced at other hotels in this group. Presentation of scrambled egg needs improvement. Yogurt flavours were limited. Evening dining needs a whole re-think by management. A four star hotel needs to offer more than tuna, sardines and mackerel in rotation ( as starter/first course) at the salad bar. Soups varied with celery soup being little more than flavoured water. Vegetables are uninviting when sitting in trays for any length of time. Jelly in pots is better suited to children (this is an adults only hotel) and the ice creams were in small tubs (vanilla, strawberry or chocolate, and sometimes lemon sorbet). The dessert selection was very limited with pieces of what appeared to be cut from Swiss roll and tumblers of tinned fruit. No smoked salmon or strawberries. We enjoyed our stay but were disappointed by the restaurant experience that was more like a works canteen where you dash in for a quick bite in the lunch hour. If "the eating experience" is not a priority on your list of holiday requirements then you will probably find it satisfactory.

Room Tip: Decide what you want, basic room for limited usage (ie for sleeping) or room with nice views? Opt f...
