Good experience !Can improve on the breakfast menu.Food quality was very average.Apart from that ,value for money is good ;clean hotel ; helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are very spacious and well maintained. Keep up the good work.

I visited Ginger, Pondicherry last weekend and was quite shocked to see how this hotel has gone down in terms of quality, service and cleanliness.

1. The toilet (the flush) was not very clean and looked like it had not been cleant for a long time.

2. Our bedroom AC was facing the sewage canal running along the side of the hotel and the horrid sewage smell was trickling into our room via the AC.

3. The restaurant had stopped serving lunch buffets or dinner due to shortage of guests and hence everything was room service.

4. The room service smart meal costed us Rs.250 per Non-Veg meal but the quantity they served us was only worth Rs.150.

5. Our breakfast buffet in the morning was horrid. The upama was half cooked and grainy, some of the dishes were over and we had to wait for 30 mins before getting a fresh serving of them, the eggs were served late and the tables were not cleant but left with soiled trays for the next set of guests to clear up.

We appreciate you taking time out and communicating with us. We genuinely regret the inconvenience caused to you during your recent stay at Ginger Pondicherry. Thank you for bringing this to our notice, our team will take appropriate actions on this matter and we will keep you posted regarding the same.

We understand that you were dissatisfied with the overall cleanliness of the room and toilet. Your feedback has been shared with the Housekeeping personnel for corrective action. Furthermore, we will ensure that periodic checks are done for our rooms and bathrooms so that such lapses do not occur. Your feedback regarding the sewage smell has been taken into consideration. The respective teams have been briefed to be more efficient to ensure that our guests don't have to face any such issues.

We also understand you were dissatisfied with the restaurant service. We have briefed to be bettered prepared in future to ensure that our guests don't face such issues have to wait for a longer period of time. Your concern regarding the food served has been taken up with the F&B partner & we have asked the team to ensure that food quality is upto the standard and food is priced at a reasonable cost. We have also conducted a training class for the service personnel specifically with the need of sensitivity while handling any guest request.

Providing the best of services to our guests has always been our endeavor. We regret and find it unfortunate that we were unable to match your expectations. We assure, you will experience a marked difference during your next visit. Looking forward to see you at Ginger Hotels soon!

This hotel satisfies all the things that you would expect at a Ginger hotel. I stayed here for 4 nights. It was a pleasant and a memorable stay overall. Clean and Crisp bed sheets ensured my quality sleep. The room service was good and the staff are kind and polite as in any other Ginger. The toilets were clean. My room never felt chill even when the AC was running at 18C for 6+ hrs at a stretch!! The Hotel doesn't have a centralized AC system and each room has it own unit. The Hotel has a cafe and a restaurant called RED SALT which is pretty good and their Bufffets in morning is wonderful. This hotel has a good parking space.

Room Tip: If you are not satisfied with your room just ask the staff to change your room. They will do it for...

This is a good place to stay, provided you have your own transport to get around. It is in the outskirts of Pondicherry - so you are close to auroville but far from the main city. Apart from that this is a good option - clean rooms, basic amenities and good bathrooms.

We traveled to Pondicherry during end of year last year. Being a peak tourist season, it was difficult to find rooms at any hotel in Pondicherry. Ginger had some and we opted for it. Primarily because it was a known brand as opposed to others available at that stage.
My impression - go for it, if you find no better option!

Ginger hotels are business hotels, at least that is what they claim. For business hotels, one expect clean rooms & toilets, good night's sleep, minimal, yet prompt service. Unfortunately this one lacks most of these important qualities.

Let me summarize the good and not-so-good points about this hotel.

Positives:
- Decently located, not too far from attractions like Aurobindo ashram, beach, etc.
- Has a restaurant in the premise, food is good and reasonably priced. Do not expect extraordinary stuff though.
- Has a Cafe Coffee Day outlet too.
- Has car parking space
- Has a Gym, a very ordinary one though. But there is one if you really really want to use.

Areas which could have been (a lot) better:
- Unclean rooms, unclean beds, unclean toilets. They need to take care of basic hygiene.
- Front desk staff try their best, they need to be groomed, trained.
- House keeping staff are not well groomed at all! It could be difficult to stand in front of one of them, the clothes they were really stink!
- Very small rooms, maybe a better decor could uplift the feel.
- Rooms on 1st floor close to the reception area, could get really noisy during the day.

For all that we got, I cannot even say it is reasonably priced. If the rooms were clean, I would have given it a thumbs up. But I cannot.

All I can say, settle for this one if you do not find a better alternative.
Maybe you will end up going to this place, like we did - do not find rooms in any good hotel and then choose Ginger for its brand.

My recommendation - try hard before you settle for this place.
If you fail, pick this one. You will survive, not to worry.

The Front office staff needs to be trained on guest relations. The breakfast service is pathetic. At around 0930 hrs. all food will be cold and takes lots of time to replace the food. I was not feeling well and asked for some food to be served in room. But after 2-3 calls , I was forced to come to the reception and had an argument about the service standard of the hotel.

But the staffs are knowledgeable about the area of attraction and can guide you nicely. F&B to be improved a lot.

Room Tip: Rooms are more or less same..... but please plan your meals outside
