This hotel is one of the best in Gangtok. It is situated in a very quiet locality.Room no. 201 has excellent view of the hills and the rooms are spacious and clean.Restaurant is well maintained. The buffet Breakfast and dinner are excellent.I stayed for 4 days at this hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed the stay. There is nothing around the Hotel to explore by walk and that is the only minus point. For the city you have to take a cab costing Rs.80 one way or you can get share a cab if you are lucky at Rs.20 per person.

Room Tip: Check for the hill view side otherwise you may get a room with a view of the wall of adjacent buildi...

Stayed for 3 nights in a executive room.
Pros:
Very good staff.
Food is very tasty especially compared to other places we ate in Darjeeling and pelling.
Reception staff is very responsive over emails. They booked my trip to baba mandir in advance.
Con:
Location is not great. No view. Though interior is new and rooms have a good decor.
Its not centrally heated hence the small heater might not be enough to warm you up.

I liked the hotel but would prefer to explore other options in Gangtok.

We were a group of 5 families and had booked on the recommendation of Tripadvisor only. Although wasn't sure how it will turn up but was having good confidence on Tripadvisor reviews as I prefer that always and hence we went ahead and booked it for 2 nights (24th and 25th May 2014) and now I can vouch that we had made the correct decision and turnout to be the best in our whole trip from the hospitality to the comfort. All you want when you go for some outing, complete peace of mind and relaxation along with all the hospitality shown from Mr Tamang (the manager) to all the other staff. The service was quick and prompt with friendly gestures. Even Mr Tamang has gone out of the way and have upgraded our room from deluxe to Suite without even asking for it. Quality of room and food is excellent. The valley view from the room is really memorable which I have even captured in my camera. Its value for money. I would recommend the best place to stay in gangtok and would love to visit again.

Room Tip: All rooms have unique things from Valley view to other facilities

I stayed in Super Deluxe room along with my old parents and friends for 3-night. Hotel is very good and food is excellent (Excellent cook they have, thanks to chefs). Two hotel vehicle Inn-ova provided by Hotel Manger Mr.Emmanuel Tamang was in excellent condition.Special thanks to drivers Mr.Uttam Lama and Kalyan Lama, they are very good, smart ,loyal, helpful ,co-operative and very nice gentle man. Mr.Tashi hotel manager is having good understanding and way of talking.
I was highly disappointment with the behaviour of Shri Emmanuel Tamang, though he fulfills the dealings before booking , there were many occasion his behaviour was not at all accepted. Basic requirement like daily drinking water, soap, no room freshener was made available. His must have to improve his behaviour and hospitality provided in room. Hope tamang will improve himself and wishing him all the best in his carrier.

Room Tip: First floor rooms in corner are good

Everything about this hotel is good. We traveled to Gangtok and stayed at Suhim Portico in June 2013 (it is a little late to be writing the review now :-)). To start with the room was wonderful - such a beautiful valley view never seen before. Sitting with the windows open and drinking a hot cup of tea is the best experience ever. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Everything is very clean and they clean up the rooms everyday. Coming to the food, we had brakfasts and dinners in the hotel as we would be away sight - seeing day time. The breakfast and dinner buffet spread was vast and you have a lot of options. The food tasted great. The service at the hotel, the staff are at their best. This deserves to be a four - star hotel. All in all a great experience at Suhim portico. I definitely would recommend it to anyone visiting Gangtok.
