Visited the Restuarant for lunch on the 21st Sept 2012, this was our second visit and again were not disapointed. Choice of 4 main courses with lots of vegetables. A nice touch there is the table with jugs of water and bottles of squash. Good value

We went to the Percy French Hotel in Strokestown for Dinner on Sunday 26th Aug 2012. We had a beautiful meal and the service was excellent and with a smile. Can wait to go back for a longer stay. The place was clean and that makes a big difference. Watch this space! We will be back.

Room Tip: Food is good

Went here for food on a Sunday afternoon (15/07/2012) on route home from Mayo. From the outside this place looks great and the main hall is also nicely furnished. After we entered the restaurant, we waited and waited for a menu. One of the two waitresses even decided to clear away a table before attending to us. She then came over and asked if we knew what we were ordering, at which point I had to ask for menus!!! We both ordered the Chicken and Bacon Carbonara which turned out to be the worst carbonara we have ever tasted. It was thrown together. The Carbonara sauce for one was not fresh and not nice. There was chicken, a pinch of bacon, some onion and mushrooms in with the sauce. The sauce was served over the smallest portion of tagliatelle, and when we mixed the sauce with the tagliatelle... it looked like there was no tagliatelle.. the food was swimming in the sauce. Needless to say I didn't finish this meal!! We also ordered tap water during our visit, which they apparently dont do and we had to buy bottled water which was a total joke!! especially because there were jugs of water on tables which had been reserved for a tour group. I thought things couldn't get much worse, but then I went into the toilets before leaving. Three toilets available, one out of use, and two I was reluctant to use - one had no toilet seat and was not clean, the other looked as if it was blocked with toilet paper and stank. The blonde waitress that served us (the older lady) needs a lesson in good waitressing and they need to invest in an actual chef in this place!! I'd find it hard to believe that the person who cooked our meal was a trained chef!!

We didn't stay here but stopped in for food on the way through. I had scampi and chips she had a Blt and chips. I had to send my chips back as they were cold but in fairness were deducted off the bill in the end without us having to ask. The scampi was delicious and really hit the spot and she loved her Blt. We'd stop in again.

My husband and I stayed in the Percy French Hotel from Friday until Monday 7th/10 October 2011 and had a wonderful, happy experience.
The staff are excellent and provide an exceptional service. They are always happy to do whatever they can to ensure their customers are happy and well taken care of.
The room was perfectly clean and we had a peaceful sleep on each night. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was of a high standard and we enjoyed our meals in the hotel.
Each member of staff was friendly, helpful and appeared to be very proud and supportive of the hotel in which they worked.
I feel the staff must be complimented and Management should realise the great asset they have in their staff. They keep the hotel in excellent condition and they care for all their customers.
