Great for something to do for a couple of hours, not far from the town centre though no public transport. Alot more to see than you would expect and a very interesting look at Australian Military aircraft.

This is an excellent museum if you are interested in history & aviation. Fantastic displays including interactive displays. Entrance fee is a donation. Museum is located on a Military base, photo ID is required to gain access. Check their web page prior to your visit as flying displays are sometimes on offer. We were lucky enough to see the Roulettes in action on the day we visited. Well worth the trip from Melbourne.

My husband, our 2 teen boys 12 & 15, and myself were visiting Werribee and decided to visit the RAAF Museum to kill time, plus they have an aerial display at 1pm on Sundays. Unfortunately the aerial display was cancelled the day we visited as they had a 2-day airshow the previous weekend, but the Museum is so interesting and well presented that I was really pleased we had called in. Amazingly, there is no entrance fee but they gladly accept gold coin or larger donations. The museum is modern and well laid out, staff are friendly & helpful, the displays contain fascinating memorabilia from WW1, WW2 and more recent wars, up to Afghanistan. The displays are easy to read & you don't suffer from information overload. I am not a museum fan but I was really impressed and would like to visit again minus teen sons, who have a shorter attention span than I do! The range of aircraft on display is very impressive, covering almost a century. They are contained in the main building & 2 hangars, plus you can visit the hangar where they are rebuilding old planes. There are no facilities for lunch or refreshments but try the café at Point Cook Homestead (located at the very end of nearby Point Cook Homestead Rd - you then follow a short dirt road to the Homestead), great food, reasonable prices and picturesque location near the water.

Whilst attending the RAAF Centenary Air Show I also visited the museum which is full of memorabilia dating back to the beginnings of military aviation in Australia - 100 years at Point Cook. The museum contains various displays from Australia's military involvement over the past 100 years, a wonderful array of memorabilia - extremely well presented and professionally done - including interaction with some displays. There are aircraft suspended from the ceiling as well as a static display of aircraft on the tarmac and a great gift shop located in the museum - I really loved it!

A great museum with several areas to view and prettyg good range of aircraft. Small aircraft flying programs on specific days. No admission charge but it is isolated located at Point Cook about 45km south of Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay. There is no real venue for lunch etc. A small shop has nice range of books etc. The displays are well put together and quite educational. Overall, a well worth visit for about 1/2 a day.
