“Relaxing Stay”

What a great place The Keepers Arms is to stay, it is very clean and ideal for visiting the wonder of the Cotswolds. John, the owner was very helpful and made us laugh with his outlook on life. I would recommend The Keepers Arms to anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing stay.

We spent a very enjoyable day here.A very pleasant host. The bedroom was spotless and very roomy and the facilities very good. The pub looked nice but we did not need it on our stay.Everything was very comfortable and welcoming and we would be happy to stay here anytime we were in the area. The village is very peaceful and well placed for exploring the Cotswolds.

Room Tip: We had the Earl Grey room,it was superb.

After a very stressful journey leaving us stranded near Swindon we found the Keepers Arms. Fantastic reception from pub owner and friendly locals. Shown to our lovely room tastefully decorated ( Farrow and Ball) with a smart shower room and all mod cons. Back down for a fab pub supper with great beer, good selection of wines and excellent service. Slept like a log and wakened to a lovely country view. Breakfast was excellent and chatted to the friendly owner. Fabulous experience and hope their TV debut of FOUR IN A BED GOES WELL!!!!

Room Tip: Choose double room with bath.

The room was gorgeous: tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The pub served great food and a wonderful pint of ale. The perfect cure for hungry/thirsty travellers. The icing on the cake was a short trip upstairs to a wonderful night's rest followed by a full English breakfast - delicious. The perfect place in a beautiful corner of the world. Don't miss this place!

We spent a night at the Keepers Arms after failing to get in to our regular haunt in the next village and we were really pleasantly surprised. The pub is in a small unspoilt Cotswold village surrounded by spectacular scenery - utterly charming location. It has three rooms, we stayed in the largest which has a gorgeous bath, the other two have showers. All were refurbished last year and feel new - immaculate bedrooms very tastefully done, gleaming bathrooms and lots of unexpected touches such as nice biscuits on the tea tray, an iron and ironing board and free wifi (there is no mobile phone reception on some networks here so wifi was a blessing for keeping in touch).
Downstairs the pub is a welcoming mix of locals and weekenders and serves very good beer. Nice atmosphere. Food was no frills but very nice and decent value. Breakfast the next day was well cooked (hubby had full English, I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg) and the landlord John was just the right mix of convivial and welcoming without being overly intrusive. Some nice touches at breakfast such as mini fridge stacked with juices and the toaster left out so you can help yourself to more. All in all, a lovely stay and good value. Just be aware this is a pub with rooms so you will hear some (not much) noise from the pub if you stay in your room in the evening (but why would you?) and the building is old, so expect the odd creaky stair. We found the Keepers Arms by accident. A happy accident - we will go back..

Unfortunately, whether it was an 'off night' for the pub but the food was pretty awful last night. We chided the pub based on the menu from the website & when we got there we were handed a scraggy piece of paper with not that much of a good choice, a bit of a bizarre menu, not that much took our fancy & it was disappointing. The woman who was in & out of the kitchen looked like she could do with a wash & brush up with hair all scraggy serving food, didn't appear to know a lot, the young chap serving got a little annoyed once we started to question him on the menu & then later the 'chef' came out & well! The manager/owner appeared to be a nice chap, pleasant good customer service, asked if things we're ok & once one of our party had in fact asked to change her meal completely (it was awful) we decided not to say much more.... But none of us were impressed with the food. The pub itself is gorgeous but we won't be hurrying back for food :(
