A large well run hotel with ample size rooms and - in my case - overlooking the pool and sea view.It ALSO overlooked the airport runway but as the flights are limited through the summer being the quiet time of the year this proved no problem with noise. The main noise came from the pool area at night as this is not closed and the week I was there children were allowed to play football etc until the early hours.
The restaurant's menu was varied throughout the week and a good selection of buffet style "help yourself" food was available.
The only negative side was the resort itself which was one of those "man made" places which was well past it's sell by date with boarded up and closed shops and restaurants although there was a pleasant coastal path around the hotel which unfortunately led to nowhere.
The beach also has grey/volcanic sand and is not to everyone's taste
With the capital Santa Cruz just a bus ride - slightly erratic timetable as buses tended to come when they felt like it - or walk away it is quite easy to get out and about and well worth it as the island is very interesting being green and tropical in the north and volcanic in the south.
Summing up - the hotel was good but I wouldn't pick it again due to the resort it is in.

Room Tip: Try to get a pool/sea view room - but be wary of the possible noise in the evening

We booked through Thomson but the hotel was featured in Skytours brochure.
At time of booking in Thomson shop we asked for 2 twins for single occupancy on a high floor as we had been advised the views were better. The rooms booked suggested limited views. On arrival we were given rooms 302 and 303, what a surprise when we went out onto the balconies, we had a full sea view and were on 3rd floor. Fantastic.
The ensuite bathroom had a bath, shower, washbasin and toilet. Shampoo and shower gel were provided as well as a shower cap!! Bath and hand towels also provided and changed frequently. It was also possible to get a pool towel as well from Reception, they forget to tell you this.
During our 2 weeks we had 4 bed linen changes.
The restaurant provided a very good buffet breakfast, omelette highly recommended. And you can even have Bucks Fizz too! We found that we did not need to eat lunch (we only had half board). Evening meal there was always plenty to choose from. We had a chocolate fountain for two of the nights which was a real treat. The staff in the restaurant especially Cali and Raquel were always very friendly and we also learnt how to create a Rose from a napkin (courtesy of a young male waiter whose name we forgot). We found the evening entertainment in the bar area a bit samey, there were just two acts which performed on different nights. Charlie Pay was slightly better than the other act. Needs a bit less repetition really. At the weekends it seemed that the Spanish frequented the hotel and also travelling groups visited for just one evening. Otherwise the hotel was very very quiet. Most people go walking on this island. Apparently there are guided walks which everyone we spoke to raved about. The pool is kept very clean but the water was quite cold in both pools although it did say 21c not sure that was correct. Did take your breath away!! He weather could have been better, we were told that the east side of the island is not as sunny as the west. Although it was warm when cloudy and then just like a fire being switched on when the sun did come out. There are some breathtaking views of the sea from the balcony especially when it's gets a bit wild out there, fantastic photo opportunities. Oh and one other major attraction is stargazing. Many astrophysicists frequent the island which has a large observatory for viewing. There was a convention taking place whilst we were there!
The Spar shop is handy being right next door to the hotel. Take a travel kettle and it will save buying coffees or teas during the day. Also the wine is much cheaper than at dinner.
All in all a very enjoyable stay, peacefully and quiet, no drunks, no beggars and now rowdiness anywhere.

Room Tip: 301-306 had good views

We stayed here for a week while in La Palma for the Transvulcania Ultramarathon. The hotel looked after runners excellently, laying on breakfast from 2:00am on the morning of the race, and then serving dinner till 11:30pm for those returning that evening—Above and beyond what was expected!

The hotel is neat and tidy, with conscientious staff happy to assist or answer questions. The grounds and facilities are well looked after, with a choice of pools and sun-lounging areas if that's your thing. There's a wide choice of food at breakfast and dinner, and _some_ decent restaurants within walking distance if you fancy eating elsewhere. There's also a Spar mini-supermarket next door to the hotel which is handy.

Guest WiFi is rather flaky, with access limited to the central lobby area, although the WiFi provided for business purposes in the conference rooms was excellent.

Los Cancajos is relatively small but the larger Santa Cruz is walkable from the hotel, albeit via a small industrial area, and there's a handful of beaches close by. It's worth renting a car to explore the island, and I'd say that Taburiente Playa is as good a place as anywhere to base yourself to do this.

Often listed as a 4 star hotel, this is really a 3 star. Bear that in mind, and you won't be too disappointed. The location is great; right on the ocean, and though many rooms allow a view of the island's airport (I can clearly see the runway markings from my balcony), with only about 6 prop-engine flights and a couple of jets per day, this has been of little concern. On the plus side: extensive buffet meals, good-sized though unremarkable rooms, and peace and quiet. Negatives: pervasive smell of backed-up drains (so far, twice in 5 days), staff can be brusque, a general lack of TLC in terms of maintenance. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel and the ride into Santa Cruz (€1.37) will connect you with buses everywhere on this pretty and peaceful island. The hotel (and indeed all of La Palma itself) is best suited for those who just want a quiet break. La Palma is a great island for ramblers/hikers. Not a great hotel (or island) if you've got kids who need to be entertained.

My husband and I booked this hotel on 'Holiday Hypermarket' on 30th April to travel on 2nd May
We had stayed at this hotel twice before so we knew what to expect. I did e-mail the hotel to ask for our previous room although I knew that this was very short notice The hotel replied immediately to say that this room was booked but that that would reserve one for us as near as possible to our requested one. Our new one was very acceptable.
We caught the bus from the airport as this only takes 10 minutes to the hotel and they run every hour,at 40 mins past the hour.
One is now able to buy BONO CARDS on the bus which saves a little money if one intends to travel a little round the island.
We had a warm reception from David at the desk and a large bowl of fruit in our bedroom from the management as we had been to the hotel previously. The hotel is lovely with very nice rooms with TVs, and private balconies. Bathrooms are complete with shower gel, soap, shampoo and shower cap.
The restaurant has very nice staff, especially Esther and the Head waiter The food is plentiful and very tasty with lots of choice (almost too much) Being Diabetic I appreciated the variety of fresh fruit My only disappointment is the breakfast orange juice, which appeared to be watered down cordial, although there were fruit smoothies, otherwise every thing which we had was good.
SO WHAT DID WE DO
Saturday morning we walked down to Santa Cruz, intending to do a longer walk but had been told by Staff of the Festival held in the town every year on 3rd May so we spent quite a while there photographing the numerous ,PUPPETS. along Antonio Rodriguez Lopez. It was all very interesting so we had something to eat and bused back to hotel.
Sunday we walked round Cancajos and sat by the pool
Monday we bused to Los Lanos in the centre of the island, then on to Puerto Naos. This has a very nice, Immaculately clean sea front with restaurants where we ate. Then we explored the town before returning to the hotel
Tuesday we bused to Santo Cruz then walked to the Sanctuary Les Nieves, following the yellow and white way marks This is a beautiful church where the statue of the Virgin of the snows is kept. We had lunch in the square then walked down again following the way marks. (8Km).
Wednesday we bused to Santa Cruz then bused to San Pedro via Les Nieves. From San Pedro we did a 10Km circular walk called The Camino del Fuentes. This is well marked and very enjoyable
Thursday we walked from above the hotel to the Parador and then up to Las Ledas then down to San Jose where we caught the bus back
Friday we went to Santa Cruz to do some last minute shopping (Lava Jewellery) then returned and had the last few hours sat round the hotel pool before returning to the airport by bus from the hotel. THEN FLIGHT HOME.
On Saturday the TRANSVULCANIA 88Km race took place on La Palma. This is a very gruelling race ,up and down the volcanoes in the centre of the island and we were sorry to have missed this. There was lots of excitement round the hotel as the registration for the runners took place opposite to the hotel and runners from all over the world stayed at the Hotel Trburiente
As you see this is a very convenient hotel with a Spar shop very near to buy mid-day snacks . If one is able to drive, a hire car would be a good idea for getting round the island

Well run and efficient but rooms are disappointing after the striking marble atrium (with ponds gold fish and trailing plants from the upper storeys). The rooms need upgrading - the beds are hard. The chairs are uncomfortable. Bathroom was also 'old' but functioned well. There were a lot of sewage smells at times. Our room was partial sea view - if you stood up to look as the balcony concrete wall obscures the view when sitting! Unfortunately there was an unsightly yard outside our room with propane store and various bit of rubbish which should be screened from view. Breakfast buffet was adequate but limited if hotel is supposed to be 4 star. The main dinner buffet was varied but one could always find something decent to eat. Unfortunatley booked the wrong week and paid over £600 too much for the pleasure of Easter week with screaming kids in the one heated pool and screaming and badly behaved kids rushing around the dining room. The pool area must be inadequate when the attached apartments and this large hotel are both full in the summer and winter high season. The loungers are a bit uncomfortable, The staff appeared pressurised and stressed in general. The reception staff were at times less than courteous. Not really our favourite hotel! The 'boardwalk' outside the hotel along the lava flows is super. The buses into Santa Cruz seemed to run on the old adage 'Leave Island Any Time' - if you have ever flown LIAT. Santa Cruz is a nice town and seems to ge quite a lot of cruise ships visiting. The hill walks are stunning but routes can be on minor roads and on cinder paths that are slippery. Beach(es) is excellent with good access to sea - watch out of jelly fish! Well worth visiting this island, which is similar to the way Madeira was 30 years ago, but make sure you do not pay too much for this very average hotel.

Room Tip: Hotel faces sea and east so yu get sun in the morning. On the road entrance you face west. Not muc...
