“Perfect Holiday with toddler in tow”

This was our first trip abroad with our twenty month old and was very sceptical about what it would be like after luxury hotels and holidays pre child! I am always first to let everyone know about bad service so I think you should all know when the opposite too, I read the reviews on here and really worried about it , the all inclusive option was excellent , no two meals the same all week, the staff couldnt be any more helpful and friendly and they work very very long hours and hard, the accomodation ( we stayed in a superior sea view ) was fantastic.. the childrens pools were very child friendly and splash pools for teeny ones, plenty of sun bed choice, ramps for prams everywhere a very safe and secure feeling not thinking someone was going to steal your pram if you left it out the dining room, only warning supermarket on site VERY expensive , £ 3.5o for a litre of milk - just top up babys milk in the restaurant .... I think if you went here without a child it really wouldnt be the place for you 98% of guests had children under the age of 6. childrens disco every night and the entertainment staff again tried and worked so hard , the choice of all inclusive drinks was extensive and not restricted.. we enjoyed this so much that I will seek out an insotel again, the bus stop was outside the hotel buses running every hour in to other parts of the island, not alot to do in punta prima the resort 5 mins walk away a few tourist trap type restaurants however we were happy with a week in the hotel. we went second week in season and it was only a 1/4 full would not want to go here in peak season the restaurant must seat about 2, 000 people !!

Myself and my girlfriend paid 330 each for a weeks all inclusive from 07/05/11 and although i wouldnt see it as 5 star, im aware star ratings go off facilities and still see the price we paid as value for money.

plus points:
fast transfer time.
pleasant location.
very clean rooms and communal areas.
good selection of spirits at the bar.
wide variety off food at the buffet club.
large bathrooms.
friendly entertainment team.
spa.

NEGATIVE:
small basic rooms.
terrible beds.
no kettle or iron.
kitchen is in a wardrobe, so not really a kitchen.
poor views from room.
only 1 beer on the all inclusive menu (estrella damm).
lots of germans.

Room Tip: try and get a first floor apartment to have any cw

We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The location of the complex is excellent, as is the food and facilities. The entertainment in the evenings was very poor but the complex has only just opened for the season so hopefully this will improve ! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, as are the Reps. We would certainly go again but would ask for an upstairs apartment, as we were downstairs and it was damp with being closed for a few months. In conclusion it was brilliant value for money and I can certainly highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs apartment .

DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! 3 STAR RATING!! NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ENGLISH!!THOMSON REPS WERE A JOKE AND USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This hotel was such a bad experience for me and my partner and little boy who is 10 months old, This was our first family holiday together and we searched for ages on the net to find the right place and this seemed to offer everything we needed!! It couldnt of been further from what we expected. From the minute we arrived we were extremely dissappointed with the Hotel. We had to que for 30 mins to check in then we had to cart 4 suitcases up a hill to our room without any directions, then the major dissapointment kicked in, Our room was dingy, dirty floors with stains, smelt damp and our bedding was damp with black stains and holes on the pillow cases, the Shower was mouldy and the door was broke with mold all over the bottom, ring marks all over the sink surface the kitchen ette is more like a electric 2 hob cooker thats it, no Kettle no iron no water, tea or coffee. We had a disscoloured plastic glove over the smoke alarm and we had a waste pipe running through our ceiling that was blocked and made constant noise through the night like someone was constantly having a bath and pouring water over them selves, the noise was that bad we reported it to the reps and the hotel tech came out 3 times and couldnt understand a word we were saying to them as no one hardly speaks english the reception shrugged there shoulders when we tried explaining it to them and we had to go back to them on the 3rd night because the noise was that bad, the phones were down or so they said but we later found out that reception were ignoring the calls from us which really disturbed us because we might of had a real emergency and with it being our first holiday with our 10month old we felt really unsafe. We requested a kettle at recpetion the first day and were told its would be 13 euros so we happily said we would have one they said they would bring to our room in 2 maybe 4 hours or maybe tomos, kettle never came, i went to see the rep as my patience was running low after having to buy bottled water and boil using pans to steralise my babies bottles and make his milk she then told me they do not offer kettles at all!! but the day earlier when i spoke to the other rep she wrote it down and said she will get one sorted!! The cot mattress was unsafe and didnt fit the cot they provided the Thomson reps were useless and when i explained on the 1st day all my concerns they did absolutely nothing but patronize me and get my back up even further, they themselves even said the staff dont understand them and for me to complain to them which i had already done, the Thomson rep came and had a look at the cot and totally dismissed the fact that the mattress was unsafe bearing in mind my son had shuffled off it and bumped his head on the metal bar at the top. Luckily we have taken pictures of all the faults and are sending an official letter of complaint to Thompson. The food was cold, The Al Faro was fully booked so we didnt get our free meal and when we went in the day they forgot our food after 40minutes of waiting we had to re-order it. The Thompson Rep wanted me to sign her report and when i asked why i had to sign it she said so she can show her manager that the complaints were resolved which they were not, glove still up, cot mattress still too small, floor was so dirty with a massive coffee stain, i didnt sign the paper.. The rep called the room on day 6 to check if the water noise had dissapeared (as is by magic) that was the first we heard off her since i visted her on the 1st and 2nd day with the handfull of complaints. They wouldnt let us move hotels as they wanted to charge us, we paid £1100 all inclusive and ended up eating out most days as the food was dyer and cold, The entertainment was awfull and eventually the guest left just before the acts started as the week went on. The more we spoke to other Guest they too had similar complaints everyone agreed its not a 5 star hotel by any means more like a 3, it looks the parts from outside but once your in your dingy dark damp room its depressing, the staff dont understand english at all, in the end you give up trying and just make the most of it. I have wrote all this to hopefully help people not make the same mistake as us and dont waste your money, there is loads of other better hotels out there and we have certainly learnt that all that glitters is not Gold!! Worst part was defo the 2 Thompson Reps honeslty what a waste of time they are as they do nothing at all to resolve any issues they only add to your fustration and there office is constantly full of people making the same complaints and why the Hell do they not speak spanish so they can communicate with the staff, surely this should be compulsory.. Good points are the beach is amazing the water is so clear and the locals are really freindly, the Resturants are really nice with local tapas dishes. The trains ride to the harbour is brilliant for your little one and goes all along the coast line. the weather was lovely for early may and there is some really nice walks to go and its very peacefull out of the resort. The hotel though is certainly not a 5 star its more like something you would find in Magaluff but probably not as nice as thats being polite about it!!!

we have just come back from a wonderful week at the punta prima. We stayed in the "cheaper" side of the hotel (not the prestige suites). After reading the reviews i was wondering if we should upgrade to the prestige side of the hotel but decided as the price we paid was very reasonable just to go anyway.

We were not disapointed in anyway. The room was very clean and the maid came every day with fresh towels etc. I unlike other guests did not find the rooms dated or shabby. I must say we had a room at the lower end of the complex and did not have to deal with the steep hill to rooms further up. If you did have a room further up the hill there is also everything you need at the top of the complex, a pool, restaurant, bar etc.

The food was lovely and i could not fault it. The drinks were all branded spirits which is not the case in all other all inculsive holidays i have been on. I would guess at the height of season the dining rooms may be a bit chaotic but we were fine.

The bar service at the pool bar was particularly slow but it was quiet when we stayed so it was not a problem.

If you have a small baby or a lively toddler none of the highchairs have straps or any padding for small babies. I used my baby reins to keep my little monster down.

The beach is a short walk away and is quite nice.

I must say this hotel is full of under fives so if you dont like children i would not book rather than moan and groan. we had a lovely time and would recomend it to anyone with a young family.

We took our 19 month old son here in may for our very first holiday together as a family, we were the first guests to arrive as the gotel opened as the summer season had only just begun, as we pulled up te hotel look stunning and alot larger then we imagined! We checked in with ease and everything was explained to us, we took our bags to our room which was easy to find as the blocks were very clearly marked and directed, the room wasnt that impresive for a 5 star hotel, but it was comfy and everything worked, it was mainly cosmetic. The hotel overall was fab, the staff were great and couldnt do enough for you, the animation team were fab!! They made sure my son had the holiday to remeber especially nine who was amazing!! The only down side was the hotel is german run so most of it was in german, but they made the effort to do ut in english aswell and always talked to us in brilliant english.
The fiod was great the pools were great, the bars were great and so was the indoor spa well worth a visit!! (12€ each but still worth it)
The only thing we did leave feedback on was that they could door with a few more enclosed spaces for families with young children as it is knackering having to run around after them all do to stop them taking you on walks halfway around the hotel!! And also a tip... Thr highchairs have no straps so we eventually came up with an idea to use our baby harnesss to strap him in... Bliss!
The resort is quiet and peacefull not lively most entertain will be at the hotel. The beach was stunning!! The bus stops right outside for mahon every hour and from there you can get to aroind the whole island.
I would go back here again, but not during a busy season as it would be to busy for us. The hotel was getting busier by the day and we notice the pools and reasurants getting very full, thats the only reason i wouldnt as busy isnt our scene.

I base the review on the price we payed and obviously take note of when we went! We paid just £349 each all incl for a week, way way below the £750 that Thomson wanted! The hotel is clean, the grounds are immaculate, plenty of entertainment through the day, good pool areas, nice quiet location. The food is also good, however we found the buffet restaurant probably the worst meal of the day - it gets pretty busy and we did get COLD food on a couple of occasions - its disappointing as its purely bad management IE lack of staff! Overall if you time it right its good, plenty of variety. Lunch was excellent with huge BBQ, snacks all day long the italian at the top pool does pizza, pasta, burgers etc........ignore all negative comments as this is good quality food with loads of choice. The drinks are all top brands too and you can have pretty much anything, icluding all ice creams etc etc. We always had plenty of choice of sunbeds, in fact moving several times during the day. We did have to wait at the bar a few times and I do imagine in peak season this could be very bad. Again the staff work super hard but the management scrimp on staff which is poor when its rated 5*. Rooms are 'OK' no way 5* in my mind but comfortable - if I'd paid full wack (which I imagine many do) you'll be disappointed. The hill is steep - you have been warned! We asked for upper floor and didn't get it maybe more poor service from Thomas Cook than the Hotel?? Worst part for us was the amount of kids...........many many kids.......its like a mother care advert!! We did find this a bit annoying at times as it wasn't sold as being such a 'child' orientated hotel. We felt the staff could improve this by having 'adult areas' in the dining hall......its big enough so why not? Evening entertainment is also pretty poor, they make the day ents people do it and they work very hard but for 5* they should employ proffessional acts.Overall we had a brilliant holiday and for the right price would return.
