“Superb !”
Reviewed 3 September 2012

Just returned from a week here HB, with my wife and two children ( 9 & 13 ) we had a fantastic suite ( they are all the same ) but the position next to the pool and looking square at the sea was one of the best postioned ones, all have large balconies or ground patios, with tables, chairs and two nice sun loungers, large bedrooms with flat screen TV's in the lounge and bedroom.
Whilst we were there the engineers were installing English TV channels on the TV's so that was another bonus, I know some have mentioned the lack of such stations in previous reviews, well it shows they listen, a rare bonus in this day and age.

We booked with Sovereign Holidays as we have booked other holidays with, they are a superb operator with 24 hr Concierges in resort and other great extras, private transfers with no sitting on sweaty buses .
Anyway the suite was kept spotless every day, with maids coming back in the evening to sort the kids beds whilst you were out at dinner. All the rooms also have fridges , microwaves, hobs and cooking utensils, so if you also want to self cater , no problem.

A 2 minute walk into the little Punta Prima resort with some nice beach front resteraunts, with reasonably priced Menus and very good seafood dishes. The beach is kept spotless with crystal white sands and clear warm sea, it's shallow a good way out and is ideal for kids, the life gaurds are very vigilant and in fact the best I have ever encountered on foreign beaches.

The food in the Hotel was excellent, breakfast with the full selection and something for everyone, dinner fresh and cooked to order by the chef whilst you wait , with a fresh selection of Seafood, inc Gambas, lobster , fish, steaks, chicken etc complemented by fresh fruits and salads .
The bar drinks are expensive , as you would expect but we stocked our fridge with goodies from the two small well stocked supermarkets on the beach front. ( we found the mini bar in the room on our last day !!!! )

The staff are very polite, child friendly and a little overworked but I couldnt fault them. The pool is also very nice with Travertine tiles all around so no slipping on these . It was school holiday time so there was quite a few children , if you want a child free holiday I would suggest you visit when they are back at school.

Anyway all in all we will be going back next year, hope this short review has helped if you were considering this Hotel/resort.

Ian.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea views, some better than others.

Lovely suites. Perfect to share with kids - sliding doors give you privacy but keeps them close. Kids loved the bubbly bath. Lovely, lovely staff - could not have been kinder to my 4 year old and 2 year old. 2 year old now says 'hola' all the time! Pool was perfect if you have one who can swim and one who can't as it's split into big pool and baby pool. Beach is just a short stroll away and very shallow water, so perfect for littlies to paddle. Easy to rent a car via hotel - recommend a day trip to lovely Cituadella on the other side of the island and the bus takes you into Mahon in 20 minutes - the boat trip is well worth doing.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are super as kids can play on the grass outside.

We have just returned from the Insotel Punta Prima Prestige and I will go back - among all other great qualities - for the friendly service. Everyone was always smiling and helpful. The resort is lovely for the children, the suite was spacious, the pool is great, it is close to a beach if you feel like a day on the beach and the weather is fantastic.

My wife and I have just spent a very enjoyable week at this hotel. We stayed in suite 6020 which is a first floor suite. We are retired, so bear in mind there were just us two old fogies when reading this review.

We considered the suite to be very well appointed, a large bedroom with king size double bed with ensuite bathroom, shower toilet and double hand-basins. There was a flat screen TV and a refrigerator/mini bar. There was also a safe in the wardrobe (no extra charge).

The bedroom was separated from lounge/second bedroom and dining area by sliding doors with large frosted glass panels. This presented a problem if one of us wanted to sit up reading in the lounge whilst the other was trying to get to sleep in the bedroom, as the lights from the lounge fully illuminated the bedroom.

The dining area contained a small kitchenette which was well appointed with wash bowl, working top, microwave oven, fridge, cupboards with cutlery, crockery and pans. There was a small round table and four chairs. Surprisingly there was no kettle - it actually didn't bother us as we always take our own.

Next to the kitchen unit was a concealed 'pull down' single bed. There was ample wardrobe space in this room and in the main bedroom.

In the lounge area was a single 'sofa bed', a three seater settee and an armchair, and a large low table. There was also a large flat screen TV with a good choice of channels in English.

There were sliding doors from both rooms onto a very large terrace which due to its position benefitted from sun from mid-day onwards. There was a table and four comfortable chairs and two sun loungers on the terrace.

All rooms were spacious.

The restaurant which provided tables both inside and on an outside terrace was excellent. There was a very good choice of dishes both at breakfast and dinner. My only grumble here was the lack of description of the dishes. My wife is allergi to fish and I had to act as food taster as it was not obvious whether certain dishes cintained fish/meat or cheese.

Staff were very helpful and polite in all areas of the hotel, which was clean but coul do with a lick of paint to refresh it.

Our stay coincided with the first week of the school holidays, consequently all of the ground floor suites and some of the first floor were occupied by families most of whom had at least two children. Not surprisingly, this meant that for most of the day the area in front of the suites resembled a VERY noisy childrens playground. As grand parents we are rather used to this sort of thing, but adults seeking a peaceful holiday should steer clear of school holidays.

Punto Prima is a lovely little seaside village in a small cove with a sandy beach. There are two well stocked supermarkets on the sea front close to the hotel - a good place to stock up the fridge with water/wine/beer at a sensible price. It is marked up by about 500% in the hotel. There were several cfe/restaurants on the 'front'. I cannot comment on them as we did not use them, but they appeared to be reasonably priced with comprehensive menus.

There is a very enjoyable walk along a coastal path from the hotel to a delightful little bay at Cala d'Alcaufar. It is about 3½ kilometers to the bay which is a mooring for yachts and has a small sandy beach. The path is rugged but pretty level walking.

Another excursion worth considering is to take the public bus from the bust stop outside the hotel main entrance to Mahon - it only costs 1.50 euro. At Mahon walk don to the dockside and take a trip in the Don Juan glass bottom boat. It is 11 euros for an hours trip with an excellent commentary. By repoute the Don Juan (which is larger) is a better trip than on the 'yellow' boat.

We would certainly re-visit this hotel and resort, but not during school holidays. Not sure it is quite 5 star, more 4½.

Room Tip: Room 6020 is at the bottom of the U shaped complex facing straight out to sea and benefits from the...

The prestige side of the resort is very nice but more worthy of a 4 star rating, maximum. The bonus is a separate reception and a private access area to the villas and pool. The down side is fewer staff, although all very good but thin on the ground. The villas are spacious and clean but actually quite dated and the whole thing is very over priced. Food is variable but suggest breakfast only and self cater or eat out. The main criticism is that this is essentially a resort for families so anyone looking for a child free zone this is not it. The prestige side just has posher mummies, daddies and children!! And bigger inflatables most likely. Beautiful scenery but having visited i can say look around as there are more options that this 'Club Med ' type resort in Menorca.

Room Tip: prestige rooms all seem fine.

This was our first time at this resort. Travelled with 2 adults and 3 children - 11, 9 and 7. Had a great holiday. I had been a bit put off by reviews suggesting it was ' Butlins in Spain' but did not find any evidence of such a comparison. We had a clean and comfortable 2 bedrom apartment.

The kids club was great with concerned and kind staff. Sophie from Weymouth in England was an absolute star. So kind and caring and funny. The kids club had a variety of activities from football, parachutes, waterfights, making a newspaper etc etc. We stayed for 10 days and all kids can be in a rehearsed show if they want one evening. Only my youngest wanted to and he was a sweep in Mary Poppins. However the other two were very happy. My middle chlild hates football and just wanted to read. I felt embarassed but did not need to. They didn't make him feel odd just respected him for who he is.

The food was great. Much better than the Barat Lara resort in Turkey we went to last year and that was good. The Italian is great and does lunch at the upper pool which we tended to stay at - 1.60m deep.

The local beach can be reached by a 10 minute walk through wood/scrub from the lower pool bar. Food patchy but sand white and fine. No shade unless you hire umbrellas so we went early evening. Great pharmacy there. Husband has bad knee and younger son a cough. Both dealt with well without troubling on site doctor -50 euros for consultation.

Reception can be frosty at times but all in all a lovely holiday with lovely staff. Thanks,

This is our second stay having booked in 2011 (we're still here and leave on 20 July). Once again dealing with the hotel direct and booking the flights separately proved the best option. We asked for, and managed to get, the same room too. This is a resort for families first and foremost - our kids are 7 and 2 - so beware if you are a couple and are hoping for a quiet break! The apartments are comfortable and spacious, and new TVs have been added this year (it would be good to have more UK channels for the kids, if only to keep them occupied while we're getting ready for dinner). The staff at reception are very friendly and always happy to help. I don't feel the restaurant staff are quite as strong a team as last year however. There appear to have been quite a few changes and this has had a noticeable effect. It feels slightly understaffed too. I'd excuse the excellent chef from this - a lovely man and great cook but perhaps there could be two chefs on duty at breakfast and dinner when, as now, the resort is just about full. The drinks could be a bit cheaper and a greater variety on offer - my wife couldn't get a gin and tonic despite there being a well stocked bar upstairs. The children's entertainment feels very samey - a number of evening shows could do with being refreshed and a greater variety of daytime activities made available. Overall though this is a great choice for those looking for a relaxing family holiday.
