“Menorcan Getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2013

We visited Menorca for the first time with our 17 month baby and the holiday turned out to beat my expectations. Whilst not a cheap resort I felt it was worth paying a little bit more to stay in the Prestige appartments. There was ample living space and the garden terrace was relaxing at all times of day. We did venture across to the lower family and kids pools, which were nice, but not quite as relaxing as the pool in the Prestige section. During our week I enjoyed exploring the coastal path using the free mountain bike hire. For a 5 star resort the gym facilities are very 2-3 star and it would be worth investing some money here. We had breakfast everyday on the Prestige restaurant terrace which is a lovely setting. The buffet chocies were very good but not quite as nice as I experienced at another 5 star resort in Lanzarotte. Sometimes the fruit was a little bitter. Also the restaurant never seemd to be open on time at 8 o' clock! Not that we were in a rush but with a hungry baby and all of that! We did have a very enjoyable salad lunch by the pool but two salads and a couple of beers sets you back €60. The rest of the time we ate out at the one of the sea front restaurants in Punta Prima where the standard of food was very good for half the price of the hotel. I am not a fan of all inclusive so the decision to stay b&b only at the hotel was well justified.
The bedroom was massive with a very firm but comfy Super Kingsize bed. It was easy to keep the room at a nice temperature. The bathroom was also sizeable with a super jacuzzi style bath and wet room shower. There were enough cooking facilities to have lunch in the room and keep beer and wine chilled in the fridge. The cleaners and turn around service was great.
In general this is a very good family orientated resort. I would recommend the Prestige appartments for a little bit more privacy from the main hotel and closer to the beach / shops.
We would definitely like to return to this hotel one day and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great base to explore Menorca from.

Went here with my kids. The pool area was fantastic. The suite also, in particular having two bathrooms and A/C which made everything so much easier and comfortable. Very friendly staff that really made us feel welcome. The other guests were mainly families with smaller children. After 22:00 we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Negatives: The wireless internet was extremely slow most of the time. The prices for food and drinks were quite high. We ended up going to restaurants at the beach most nights instead, which actually was much better than staying holed up in the hotel anyways.

Dear Tdsdk,

many thanks for your time in writing your opinion. In name of all the staff of Insotel Punta Prima Prestige we are very glad that you spent a nice holiday in our resort.
About the prices you mention, they are justified by the quality of food and drinks of first choice that we offer to our guests. Anyway we thank you very much for your comment about it and the wi-fi, we will look into these matters deeply.
We really hope to meet you again in our hotel in the future.

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to this hotel - and as ever it was fabulous! It was great to see some of the faces from last year - always a good indicator where there is staff continuity. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff; they are professional, friendly (without being intrusive) and cater for couples and families alike. The sports facilities are fantastic - as my husband and son will testify; I experienced the spa and it was sublime! This really is a place you will want to keep on returning to. Nothing is too much trouble. My son particularly enjoyed playing the piano in the bar; he would have stayed all summer. I cannot recommend this hotel (and its staff) highly enough. We will return next year without a doubt.

Room Tip: All the rooms in the Prestige are great; we had a sea view this time and was worth the little extra...

We stayed at this complex last year, in June. We absolutley loved this hotel as I was quite nervous travelling with an 8 month old and a 3 year old. We stayed on the Prestige site but used the facilities in the other half of the hotel as well. What we loved the most was the fact that we could entertain the kids on the larger complex but really get to chill out and relax in the prestige side, which was much quieter. The pool overlooks the sea and it is very tranquil, but we could take our kids up to the toodler pool or the playgrounds when we needed to to allow them to splash around and play. The suites were fabtastic and had all the space we needed. We loved it so much we are going back this August!

Room Tip: Prestige side is lovely, but a little bit more expensive

Just got back from an all-inclusive week at the hotel with my wife, 2 daughters, 2 sons-in-law and 3 grand-daughters. The accommodation was very good and the food was varied, plentiful and to a very good standard. We also visited the 2 a la carte restaurants and the table service was very welcome following the other buffet style meals. The animation team were friendly and hard working and provided sporting activities during the day and entertainment for kids and adults in the evenings. The only downside was the delay in getting served in the main bar during show time. Maybe they needed a few more bar staff and table waiting staff. We provided feedback to the hotel and travel company, but this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the holiday.

Room Tip: Lower room numbers near El Faro restaurant and northern pool. Higher room numbers near main and Aire...

The hotel was simply excellent! It is in a beautiful setting on a sea front location.
The rooms are all suites and they really are true suites - they are huge, they contain a bedroom, separate living room and dining room, a kitchenette, two bathrooms and a big balcony. The suite was very comfortable, very clean and had good facilities.
The entire hotel was spotlessly clean and the made service was excellent.
All the staff were very friendly, polite and couldn't be more helpful, the service was very good!
The food was excellent from breakfast through to dinner, it was all of a very high standard!
It was an all round great holiday in a very relaxing environment!

Room Tip: Half board is a good option!

Hugely important piece of advice: if you're travelling without children be aware this is a huge family hotel complex! However the Prestige Suites are a self-contained hotel in one corner of the complex, close to the beach and with a separate exit/entrance to the street operated with your room key, so it is much, much quieter. We went outside school holidays so the main hotel was filled with pre-school tots and there were fleets of buggies at every corner - however the Prestige Suites remained remarkably peaceful with only a few well-behaved children in the pool. You can use all the facilities in the main hotel, so if you do have children I suspect this would be paradise for them. We didn't (on either count).

There is loads of space in the Prestige hotel: the suites are enormous with king-size bed and a massive his and hers bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, walk-in shower, and bidet. In the separate lounge there is a 3 piece suite, TV, dining area and kitchenette, a pull down bed, a sofa bed and another toilet and shower room. Its all very clean, stylish, comfortable and above all spacious. The bar and dining room are also spacious and there's plenty of seating outside.
The hotel staff were very helpful and soon got to know us - they also kindly let me practice my Spanish although most could speak very good English.
At breakfast there is a good selection on the buffet - what you would expect, not anything exceptional. We ate lunch by the pool - OK for sandwiches and chips, burgers etc. Not exactly gourmet and rather slow service but then sometimes I need to be forced out of the sun for a rest! We didn't eat dinner in the hotel but got taxis to some excellent local restaurants (try Pan y Vino in Es Castell).

The beach nearby is smallish but clean and sandy with a lifeguard. There is a (rough) coastal path so you can walk to the next bay along for a drink or ice cream in either direction. If you do have young children I suspect Punta Prima is paradise for them - its small, has a sandy beach and there are playgrounds everywhere.

Room Tip: Personally I was glad we didn't pay extra for a sea view
