This very nice hotel fronts onto the railway, with an adjacent station , with frequent connections to Barcelona. Advise ensuring a room at the back of the hotel ,overlooking the pool, which is quieter at night. The hotel is about 120 m from the marvellous beach ( wide, flat and sandy, stretching for miles) ( whoops ..kms ! ).The public rooms were spacious , well decorated and hung with interesting pictures, and a pleasant restful lounge.
Food ( buffet style )was of good quality ,quite wide ranging , and plentiful.
The bedroom, interestingly decorated, was spacious , clean, and with a nice small balcony overlooking the pool. The beds were wide and comfortable, and the bathroom roomy and modern .
The hotel has plenty of facilities. There are outdoor and an indoor (heated ) swimming pools, a sauna , gym, and plenty of games facilities for children and adults.
The staff were enthusiastic and helpful.
There appeared to be plenty of parking space.
Overall this was a very enjoyable stay .

Room Tip: Ensure you are at the back overlooking the pool

Was staying here with a large group of people in april. Loved the town (Calafell) and would definetely go there again. The hotel was nice, well situated, clean and comfortable. The rooms were nice and the garden area. Big bathroom and good shower. There were only two things that needed improvement; there was no refrigerator in the room to cool drinks and there was a problem with money and paying for drinks and other costs.

On arrival at the place, the atmosphere seemed calm and pleasant. The staff helped us to get lunch at 3pm when we arrived, which was very good as the restaurant was closing at 3pm because the lunch was over. It was all tranquil enough until the evening when we discovered between 100 to 150 students descended on the restaurant in readiness for their food. You need to be quick in order to get something to eat, and then eat quick just to get away to find some more peace and quiet. However, the students were mostly noisy until gone midnight each night, so if you want a good night's sleep then it's not going to happen early. The weekends however didn't have the students so was quieter. There is a train station opposite which is handy, and there is on-site car-parking for 6 euros per day. Drinks seemed expensive with a can of Fanta at 2.50, and a bottle of Estrelle at 2.25. The decor looks dated and needs a bit of a re-vamp.

Whilst I have to agree with other reviewers that this hotel is not a true 4 Star establishment it certainly rates a 3 Star Plus. We spent two nights here on a full board basis and had a room overlooking the pool. The room was large with two big comfortable beds. The docor was unusually bright, perhaps best described as eclectic. The room was spotlessly clean.
The food was buffet style and excellent with plenty of choice. The breakfast was particularly good although some might wish there was more fresh fruit.
The location is excellent, just a short walk from the station and five minutes from a golden sandy beach. It is very much a family hotel and whist we were there the guests were mainly Spanish (or Catalonian) with more than a few of a certain age. Club 18-30 it is definitely not (Great !). If you're looking for a good quality, good value, local hotel then this is the place for you. We will certainly be returning.

This hotel is not truly reflective of its apparent four star ratings. The main issue I had as a single female occupant was that I was woken each morning from 8am with a lot of noise in the corridor by the cleaners and fellow guests who let their toddlers play in the corridors; I had a 'do not disturb' sign on my door but on two of the mornings the cleaners knocked on my door and attempted to open it at 9am, fortunately I had the security chain on. I can't recommend this to young couples or those who like a lie in on their holidays. It would be good for young families who wake early or other travellers who are early risers."

It describes itself as a 4 star hotel sometimes it is -3 and sometimes +3 depending on what you are looking for. The beds were quite hard and the train line is very close so you can hear when you missed your train into Barcelona (55 mintes away on train - cost only €3,60!). We are quite sensitive to noise but after a short while we didn't hear the trains any more and it wasn't a problem. Only soap and towels were provided in the hotel bathroom but it was clean and tidy. We had half board and the food was actually very good. There is a lovely lady called Mercedes who cooks the food freshly for you. Breakfast was survivable and definitely not the best meal of the day. For best choice come early for meals as can get a little crowed at peak times. Fantastic desert called Goxua freshly made every day! A truly family hotel and there was lots to do in the evenings to keep everyone entertained. Young couples would probably enjoy Sitges more than Calafell but we (an older couple) and families would be better off here. The beach was only 150 metres away and the beaches are very clean and enjoyable. If you become a little 'Spanish' and forget your home customs during your stay then this is a very nice hotel. The value for money was good.

My son(Englsh) and his wife(Spanish) and their 3 children who live in Spain wife's parents and my wife and I,were booked into this hotel on 25th August room 133,on a full board basis.Hotel is in a very good position opposite Calafell railway station and only 5minutes walk to a beach and promenade about 4 miles long.Life guard on duty sitting up high.Flat sandy beach and seabed. Our room 133 Balcony did not face the swimming pool.To get a room for this you need to book rooms 129--110,likewise for upper floors 229 etcThe hotel arranges entertainments for children all the evening up to midnight, even for toddlers.Spanish children always stay up late in the summer. It is a large hotel and there were only two other English families staying there.Hotel reception is tiny compared with the usual Spanish tourist hotel. But this hotel is for Spanish people and the types of food served is to their likening. We saw our first potatoe after 4 days.Spanish tend to eat mainly meat. The cold buffet was excellent, but you need to arrive for meals on time otherwise you may have to queue after half an hour. The guests appear to have been booked via Travel Agents as on the Welcome Card it states the Hotel does not accepy Debit or credit cards..All drinks bought during the week are on the slate and must be paid in Euros Cash. Two very large double beds are in each room(we had one each),good air conditioning and double glazing is very good, keeps the noise of children playing at midnight and the fast double decker trains passing just across the road. The area is geared for the Spanish families no Jet Skis, banana boats or amusements on the beach area.Mostly apartments and a few hotels. As there is no entertainment in the evenings people saunter along the promenade and visit numerous ice cream parlours,Hot even in late evening.29 degrees durin the day.Usual breakfasts but very poor cereals, advice pack a travelling kettle and take tea bags.Small packs of long life milk from local shop. The desserts are very good, you can keep going back for ice cream, fresh fruit, slices of gateau etc.No smoking in loiunge, reception area and restaurant, but strange thing is there is a cigarette machine oin the lounge/Large pool for adults plus and a smaller one for toddlers..Smokers tend to smoke sitting round the pool blowing smoke over their children.Would not be allowed in England.Towels on sunbeds does happen but there are plenty of beds, owing to Spanish staying in bed late in morning,or the sun too hot to sit under.Only saw two or three teenagers in the hotel,.One shop on beach does sell Daily Express or Daily Telegraph. It is a very good clean resort, lots of shops and bars.Perfect for a quiet holiday out of school holidays. Will go again next year.
