We have just spent a week at Diana Palace as part of a group meeting up for a birthday celebration. We had never been here before but one of our party had and so we knew that the hotel had a good reputation. The Hotel proved to be very good value for money. As other reviewers have said the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. They worked very hard and remembered people, the bar staff would remember your choice of drinks etc
We had lovely rooms in a great position although we can see that rooms and views may well vary a bit. The room was spotless and serviced every day.
The restaurant was well run by Dennis who kept things moving. The Food was very good given the cost of the holiday package for an all exclusive. Plenty of choice and easy to eat healthily if you want to with a very good salad bar. For those with a sweet tooth there were excellent cakes and puddings all made on the premises. Quite a lot of seasonal food and the olive oil was provided through the hotels own farm which was a nice touch. There were themed. There was a terrific choice for breakfast including hot food which varied day to day – also all the usual cereals and continental breakfast options The lead Chef – another Denis was friendly and visible and did us a lovely special meal for our friends birthday. The Hotel provided a Birthday Cake.
The wine was also produced by the hotels own farm, possibly a little too rustic but was improved by adding water or soda. Plenty of choice of other drinks, although as is often the case overseas the choice of sugar free was limited to coke or Soda water. The pool was a really good size and lovely and clean as was the whole facility. There is a second shallow pool for children with a spate family sun area aw from the main pool The Animation crew and all the various activities were part of the package. Whilst they may not all be everyone’s cup of tea there were always some activities everyone could take part in particularly if the weather is not great. The staff were lovely. The evening entertainment area was a little soulless but in the warmer evenings there was an out door area and the interior would be air conditioned. Again all part of the package.
A special mention for the reception staff who all appeared to go by the name Katarina – they made sure our party were all together, organised a bottle of fiz on arrival for the member of our party who had a birthday, and sorted out arrangements for the special birthday meal we had requested. They also went out of their way to sort out a hire mini bus for us with a driver who spoke English – we struck gold with Ionian Transport and Martin our Welsh drive – ( who had lived on the island for years and was married to a local so knew the place inside out) The cost was great value but we appreciate that this would be more difficult in the height of the summer when the transport would be in full use for wider tourist travel. We had a great day out and Martin was very helpful.
Also a special mention for Diana who came over after her reception stint from the Floxena ( a sister hotel) to do a pedicure as their local girl was booked up. Diana did the best pedicure I have ever had and I highly recommend her.
The hotel has a small fitness centre which was great, although it was a little tired and mainly weights, The bike and running machine will probably need updating soon. Never the less they do have the facility which many hotels of this type would not have.
The resort itself is a typical small Greek Resort, with tourist shops and bars, there is a nice beach bar at the Beach The Mimosa – lots of friendly people. There is a lovely pottery on the edge of the resort towards Zante town a very girl runs her own business and makes all the posts which are a little different. There is not a lot else in Argassi but you can walk into Zante Town in a little over half an hour or get a bus or the road train where there is more upmarket shopping and lots of bars and restaurants.
All in all a great holiday value for money and would be great for families.
