The Aparthotel Jardin Menorca is a great, value for money hotel choice for a holiday in Menorca. In terms of location, it is situated on the fringes of the resort of Son Bou which offers several restaurants and bars and is situated on one of the longest stretches of white beach on Menorca. It's not a terribly inspiring resort and most of the restaurants tend to be of the 'ham and chips' style, but there are a couple of gems like Casa Andres. There's also supermarkets, car hire and a medical centre to make life easy.
The hotel lies on the edge of the resort overlooking some beautiful countryside views as well as a view of the Med. It's about a 20 minute walk into the centre or the hotel lays on hourly buses too. While some might find the walk inconvenient, it does mean that the area is tranquil.
Some have commented that the hotel has seen better days and in truth, there are a couple of parts of the exterior which could do with sprucing up. However, the grounds are impeccable with mature gardens which have been well groomed. We couldn't complain about the rooms too. We stayed in a Junior Suite and it looked as if it had been freshly painted. It was spacious with a wonderful balcony overlooking those country views. It was also cleaned daily which was certainly welcomed.
The staff also warrant a mention. The reception, waiting and maintenance staff were all friendly and professional, even taking time out of their busy days to coax our two year old to say Hola!
The only downside for me was the food, in particular the hot food at the hotel. In one respect, what can one expect when you pay approx £500 for one week's accommodation and half board. Clearly the food is going to be of a fairly basic standard to keep costs down. One would never go hungry but the breakfast hot choice was really perplexing. It was hard to know what was being served at times. Dinner was similar with the hot choices really not looking appetising. There was a hot grill there with fish or meat being cooked but an incident with undercooked, raw chicken meant we steered clear. On the other hand, the salad bar and the cold choices were all perfectly adequate.
To sum up, for a family or couple on a budget, this is a great choice of hotel. Wonderful surroundings, pleasant staff, clean rooms and walking distance to a wonderful beach.
Go for it!

Have returned from a week at this hotel. Absolutely lovely hotel in wonderful grounds.
Short transfer time from airport approx 30-40mins on minibus.
The hotel was extremely clean and staff helpful. The breakfast couldn't be faulted, buffet style with everything you can imagine and pastry's very yummy! We didn't stay in hotel for evening meal.
The rooms were open plan and spacious, kitchen area was small but was ample for basic use. Bathroom was quite big, this was the only part I would say could do with a bit of an update but still lovely and the complimentary toiletries were an added bonus. Health spa could do with some attention jacuzzi didn't work and indoor pool very cold and basic.
Was a bit disappointed that the children's mini club area wasn't open as we had our 21mth old with us and he would have loved the indoor play area. There is an outdoor play area but maintenance work seemed to be getting done on this every day. Sure they will be good though in peak season.
The hotel is up on a hill about 20 -25mins walk from the beach, local bars, restaurants and shops, there is a hotel bus which will drop off into centre on the hour however this stops at 18.45hrs! The road train which also picks up outside hotel was not in use whilst we were there which meant a lot of walking for us but its a nice walk back.
If you like walking there is a lovely walk to St Thomas from the side of the hotel which also leads to some lovely coves and west side of beach (please bear in mind this appears to be a nudist part of the beach) East side of beach great for families and was never busy whilst we were there.
Couldn't fault this hotel, lovely place and would definitely recommend.

We arrived at the airport and was swiftly directed to our own little bus which took is straight to our hotel which was fantastic, when we got in the room was beautiful.
Great aircon which we pretty much left on all night and such great staff.
We had a little bus that took you down to the beach every hour starting from 9am
The o ly problem was
To get back we ha to either walk for 20-25 mins all up hill or catch a cab which was €7 too much if you do the trip more that 2ce a day
The food is great at the hotel and the spanish omelete is a must!!
We got out apartment cleaned every day around 1 so it was great we didnt have to wake up too early the only thing that the maids didnt do was wash your dishes if you left any in the sink
And change the bed sheets as we noticed we had sand in our bed from our trip to the beach the day before
But apart from that i haven't got anything bad to say at all
This was our first holiday and i have to say a great start to our holiday expectations.

We stayed at the Jardin de Menorca in early September, after booking with our local travel shop in August and got a fantastic half board package flying from Birmingham at a great price. Then, after reading a few reviews, started to get a little nervous... but there was no need!
A local bus outside "arrivals" takes you into Mahon and we took another bus into Son Bou, it was 100yds to our hotel from the bus stop and the total cost... less than 10euros and easy peasy.
We requested a room with a view and were not disappointed (see pics) nor with our spacious accommodation, it was immaculately clean and with all the usual facilities, the kitchen area being a particular bonus, excellent bathroom/air con/beds and balcony.

The dining room was huge and included an outside terrace, service was buffet style with staff on hand for drinks or assistance, there was also a manned hot plate area for omlettes etc. at breakfast and steaks/burgers at dinner. Food was plentiful, if a little simple in the evening and the drinks prices very reasonable, as were the prices in the attached mini-market.
The grounds, pools, terraces and accommodation blocks were lovely and yes, it did have a dated look and feel here and there but this was more than made up for and we really warmed to the place... wishing we'd booked 2 wks instead of 1!
We hired bikes from the hotel and there's a lovely walk starting at the side of the hotel, the walk into Son Bou centre is 15 mins and very pleasant - though there is an hourly hotel minibus (day) - and quite flat. Evening entertainment was limited and we decided to skip the parrot show, but did stay one evening for a singer who's interpretation of her subjects was enthusiastic and hilarious (in a good way) bless her.

Room Tip: We preferred a high room facing the countryside, beautiful!

The room was cleaned every day and kept spotlessly clean and tidy.
The grounds were looked after to a very high standard, the 3 pools were cleaned daily and the grass was cut on a weekly basis.

Son Bou is a very peaceful and restfull place to stay.

Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and there was plenty to choose from the buffet provided.

Reception were very helpful and full of local information.

Only down side was parts of the complex could do with a bit of a face lift.

Would highly reccomend the restaurant Asador Las Dunas for it's choice of Spanish & English food.
Give the paella a go .. well worth the wait.
