Cosmos seems to be high-class, luxury hotel which has deteriorated a little bit.

The hotel is just off the center of Contrexeville, with parking outside.

The rooms are huge - but little is done with the space, so the room feels empy. There is a double bed, an armchair, a long narrow desk with a chair and two nightstands. The bathroom is even more peculiar - in the shower-only version (I stayed in 2 rooms) the bathroom is huge - and the shower stall so cramped you keep banging your elbows on the wall. Who designed this ????
In the bathtub version - all is fine.

The wardrobe is large. There is a flat-screen TV (medium sized) with all inputs. Wifi was fast and worked fine everywhere.

Each room has a small balcony with a nice view.

The hotel amenities are good. There is a well maintained outdoor swimming pool, a small (well, mini-) driving range and putting green (clubs available), a good fitness room and a well equipped kids playroom. There is also a concrete table tennis table around the back and some kids' playground stuff (swings and so on)

Breakfast (buffet) was good - not a great selection of items but a good one, perhaps a 3 or 4 star breakfast.

With a little bit of work this place could become a superb hotel again - but since tourism in the area is declining (fewer visitors to the thermal springs) I figure that won't happen. Faded glory, but excellent value for money if you find a good deal, around 60 eur/night (or get one via the nearby casino).

Yes this place looks like an old palace that needs refurbishments..But the rooms have been recently completely refurbished and smell of new and clean. The restaurant is good and the service very friendly. The front desk staff asked for my credit card details on a sheet of paper (because their system was down) but completely understood my immediate refusal. The Spa area is very large, ultra clean and staffed with experienced and friendly people. Yes on average this doesn't look like a place for the youngsters, but my wife and I in our 40's didn't feel like the youngest at all. Many families with kids.. Finally the Casino (owned by the same Hotel Group) is 300 yards away...But i won't comment it: I hate gambling...

Room Tip: prefer the rooms on the 3rd floor from 302 to 310 - Avoid 4th floor if possible

We used this hotel for one night coming back from the Provence. Room was standard but spacious with the right bathroom amenities. No Airco. Hotel has open air swimming pool which is great when it is hot outside as was the case during our stay. Restaurant is below expectations. Staff is friendly but chaos is the rule here. You get served food first before they serve you the wine . No coordination at all. Poor management. Saw many unhappy customers in the restaurant as a consequence. Excellent choice of wine at very reasonable price. This hotel where you come for the wine rather than for the food!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with garden view, as these are quiet.

On the road to our holiday adress in the south of France we needed an overnight hotel. Turning off the A31 at junction 9 (Bulgneville, Contrexeville) at around 20.30, we just drove into town (5 mins) and hit this hotel. Between has-probably-been-classy-once and easily-accessible-yet-very-comfortable. Simple but spacious room, not so up to date, but the bed was perfect and the shower was fine too. We had half pension and had a simple but very nice and pleasant late diner. Breakfast was no surprise, but is was better sorted than you would expect in France. Check in and out was quick and efficient and we were on our merry way before 9.00a.m.

Room Tip: If you don't ask for a specific bed ("grand lit" = a big bed or "double" = a...

...because everything else is worse!
Stayed for two weeks with full pension. The good thing is the cuisine. Good quality and the restaurant staff is really charming and they do anything to get what you want. The food is never boring.
For the rooms go for the suites. Everything else is just good for one night. Decoration in the hotel is non existent besides a few vintage hotel vintage furniture reminding of the glory gone by. Rooms are minimal, no AC, fridge, minibar nor safe. Big flat screen TV in the suites and free WLAN.
The best thing of the hotel is that it's whole atmosphere is so much different form the ClubMed on in nearby Vittel! Stay at the Cosmos and go playing Golf in Vittel

Nice rooms, old school feel, loved the white table clothes. Great pool. Heatlthy and confy food options. BUT : unfriendly front office manager, the young lady maybe thinks that smile is uncompatible with professionalism? Glacial!
