Just back from a week staying at Valerie's whilst Skiing at La Mongie. Warm comfortable house with a lovely sitting room to relax in after a day on the slopes. Wonderful home cooked french style meals, local produce, cheese & wine; all at a leisurely pace in good company. Perfect.

This was our third trip to Valerie's and yet again we were superbly delighted. We love the area for walking in the summer and skiing in the winter. This time we took advantage of a luxury spa weekend and were blown away by Val's professional massage in her private treatment room. We will definitely come back for winter skiing, but this time we will take advantage of the terrific muscle relaxing massage on offer.

Room Tip: Make sure you take advantage of the breakfast and evening meal. We looked outside but quality and va...

We stayed with Valerie for a skiing week in La Mongie. Located in the centre of Bagnere, we had plenty to explore in the evening, but most nights enjoyed a fantastice home cooked meal with Valerie. Valeries local knowledge and passion for the region added to our enjoyment. Great value, good food, no hesitation in recommending this B&B whatever the purpose of your visit.

Four if us stayed with Valerie for a week in Feb as a base to ski in La Mongie - some 20 mins up the road. Valerie is a truly excellent host, with fine food all locally sourced, plenty of wine and engaging conversation! She took the trouble to check what we liked to eat (easy, as we tried anything) and such was the quality of her meals that we ate in all but one evening - well we thought Valerie needed a night off! Having her arm in a caste was seen as a minor hindrance...amazing lady.

Valerie has a wealth of local knowledge and was always on hand to advise and assist. Her lovely town house has loads of character, good size rooms, really comfortable beds and plenty of options for families and groups. The spa, 2 mins away, is brilliant and highly recommended, and the Bagneres market each Sat is a must for local produce, as well as very palatable 1.5l bottles of wine for EUR1.50. The Pyrenees offer a huge range of activities in beautiful surroundings, and although there was more snow than they could handle during our week which restricted our options, we really enjoyed La Mongie.

But coming 'home' to Valerie was always a pleasure, and it certainly filled our visit with lots of very fond memories. Many thanks indeed. Highly recommended!

Stayed from 3rd - 10th January 2013 and couldn't have been more impressed. We were welcomed with a beer after an episode at Toulouse airport waiting for skiis that didn't arrive. After showing us around her lovely old town-house Valerie then fed us the most wonderful 4 course meal. Like others, we had intended to eat out some evenings, but Valerie's cooking was so delicious and far better value and included wine, so we abandoned all thoughts of going elsewhere.

The rooms were quaint but spacious, the beds extremely comfy and there are two bathrooms and at least three toilets, all spotlessly clean. The house was always warm and cosy and we had private use of her lovely comfortable lounge with English & French TV, but mostly we sat in the dining area chatting to Valerie each evening taking in the ambience and tantalising smells of the forthcoming meal.

Although she doesn't have dedicated parking, we had no problems finding a place nearby, never having to walk more than 50m or so. We drove daily up to La Mongie which took around 20 minutes, and parking at the resort was also easy.

Some people may prefer the indifference of a hotel, but if you like to feel 'home from home' then look no further. Well done Valerie, you've got it dead right and we'll be back very soon I hope.

I had four days cycling the Pyrenees and watching the Tour de France, for which Valerie's is perfectly located in the pretty town of Bagnères de bigorre. The Tourmalet is only half an hour ride away, and most other famous climbs of the Pyrenees are within reach within a day Our intention had been to eat out after a day cycling, but after trying Valerie's meal on the first night, decided to stay and eat with her every subsequent night. It felt like coming home. The food was delicious and very good value at €20 pp incl wine.
The rooms were clean and the 400 year old house magnificent.
I would highly recommend a stay with Valerie and will definitely be going back

Valerie provides a very welcome oasis for the weary traveller at her beautiful authenic French residence, in the centre of Bagneres d'Bigorre. My wife and I were greeted to a cool beer on arrival, which was very welcome after a long days drive. We were also fully briefed with what the local area has to offer, before being shown to our very comfortable, clean room.
Valeries cooking has to be tried to be believed, with all the produce being bought ( usually that morning ) from the magnificant local market a 100 yards away. It is great to return after a days exploring / biking / walking , knowing all you have to do is shower and be attended to. One great spin off are the tips my wife got on how the French cook - a real eye opener - and definitely we will give some recipies a try. I agree whole heartidly with all the other scribes so no point in repeating their sentiments.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and all the great craic we had at nights, over a few glasses of the magnificient local wine. Would definitely recommend without hesitation.
Many thanks Val - Brian and Sandra.
