“Very disappointed”
Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

This hotel is definitely not worth the price. The hostess was not really welcoming. We had to try few rooms before finding one not smelling bad (awfull smell from air extractors). In the room the level of service is very low. The hotel is located close to the main road which is noisy, windows are brand new but poorly insulated. Could not sleep from 5:00am. Breakfast was way too expensive. For the same service we would expect to be located downtown in a famous french city. I had a bad experience there and my expectations are usually not really high.

Eleven of us stayed on the third night of our group cycling holiday. The hotel is south of the town in an industrial area but is in a reasonable location and is fairly new. Some of us including my wife and I had a standard room, others had superior rooms in a different wing. Our room was excellent and well appointed. A rudimentary bar but the receptionist kept us well supplied with early evening drinks after a long cycle ride. We all dined in the Toscana an Italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Excellent reasonably priced food and very good staff. Breakfast in the hotel was a little basic but satisfactory.

Several of the superior rooms had a power failure during the night which caused a few problems.

I won't go into too much detail in this review other than to say that, once we got past check in with a very unhelpful and not very friendly lady and reached the room, we stayed approximately 6 minutes before leaving.

We were however provided with a full refund which was unexpected but without question (if but for a few dirty looks and tuts).

We subsequently checked into the nearby Formule 1 at a third of the price which felt altogether safer, more comfortable and brighter.

Never again.

We booked this hotel late in the evening for 62€ excluding breakfast. It is situated near the motorway outside of town. But unlike other hotels in these areas, the rooms are stylish as are the bathrooms that are even separated from the toilets. The shower was a dream, and so was the free WiFi that functioned very well. There is an Italian restaurant just outside the hotel that serves good food at reasonable prices. Ideal for a night when travelling through!

Our family of three, two adults and one teen-ager stayed two nights at Best Hotel St. Lo. For us, one night would have been fine, but honestly two nights was a little ackward. The reason being that our son is 6 ft. tall, so very much an adult height. As if often the case when you book a triple room, one bed is shorter than the others. And, our room (216) was so narrow that two of us had to be between the beds for the other to pass to the bathroom or door.
Also, we knew that the room was to have a refrigerator. It did, but it was more a storage chest and if anything it was warm because it had a light fixture on the inside. Can't imagine why a refrigerator of that size would require a light fixture. I mentioned to the staff the first evening we were there that it was on but not cooling, but it remained warm our entire stay.

The upside, the beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. You won't stay for the view, but parking is plentiful and included. Several restaurants and gas stations in the near area. The toilet is in a seperate closet from the shower. I think the room may have been remodeled recently because the shower appeared new. No problems with hot water as mentioned in previous review, hand an body gel dispensors at sink and shower. We did have breakfast the second day before taking off. Your usual european fair- asst. juices, hot beverages, cereals, yogurts, sliced meat, cheeses and assorted breads.

We paid 105 euros (130 dollars) per night. In the future I would pay a little more for room if our son was with us, or if we are staying longer than one night. Even with two people it would start to feel like a cage after awhile.

We stayed here one night en route to Cherbourg - a couple, 5 yr old and baby. We were very impressed with the size of the room, which had a double bed, single bed and plenty of floor space for a travel cot. Nice shower room too and friendly check-in staff. We didn't have breakfast here, but found the nearby Buffalo Grill convenient for dinner (having failed to find any family-friendly restaurants in St Lo itself - although perhaps we missed the right part of town!). The hotel is handily placed for the motorway and we had no noise issues, although this may be because our room overlooked the carpark rather than the motorway. The only criticism was being quoted €8 for a travel cot for a night - in the end we brought our own, which they didn't mind at all.
All-in-all, much better quality than the typical budget hotel.
