“A gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014

This was our first visit to Corfu and and we wanted a small hotel for our base. It was more than that and we really enjoyed our 2 week stay there.

Alexandra on reception was fantastic and always there on hand to answer any questions and where a lot of big hotels make a big deal out of the welcome party, we were taken outside in the sunshine and had a very informal chat about the best places to visit on this beautiful island.

There is so much to see on Corfu, if you have a chance to hire a car, there are some great beaches and a trip up to the mountains is great to get away from the heat.

A special thank you to the domestic staff who cleaned our room every day and were always
so happy and cheerful.

The bar and restaurant staff were also always very happy and helpful and we really enjoyed the
food and ambience of the bar/restaurant. (especially Angela and Alexandria)

The nightly entertainment in the hotel was fun and a good ending to the day.

Sadly, the breakfast was a bit of a let down, but we made the most of it (the staff though
were delightful and again always very happy and helpful).. I think the need to have more hot food options would be a good idea

Room Tip: Corner suites are larger and sunny

This is an ideal place for those looking for a smaller hotel (29 rooms) but with excellent service and staff. We were there for two weeks in June and were delighted with the location and the helpfulness of the staff (particularly both Alexandras and Chloe).

We had a sea view room (there are only 3 in the hotel and it seems only 3 in Gouvia!). The negative side to this that the front is the entertainment area so don't expect to get to sleep before 1am!

Having said that, a side sea view room would be an option and also quieter.

Did not stay at this hotel but ate in the restaurant twice. First for lunch which was ok- not exceptional. I decided to go for breakfast one overcast morning. The setting is beautiful and the views of the bay very pretty. I ordered beans, toast bacon and 1 egg. The food arrived without the bacon and cold. The waitress took it back . When next brought out it had the bacon but was still cold. The toast was the same as before with the one corner off it I had tasted . It was really very poor and not the standard expected. It's the worst food I have been served in 15 years coming to Corfu. Such a pity as the waiting staff are all lovely . Wont be eating here again.

I am going back to this hotel on June 13th > 27th after a previous visit a couple of weeks ago. I live in the UK but I have fallen in love with Gouvia and the Greek way of life and the local people as they are so honest and friendly. I am looking to buy a villa on this visit and Alexandra has promised to help me avoid and pitfalls etc.

We stayed for 2 nights. Our first impressions were fairly poor. The receptionist was surprised to see us as she was unaware of our booking. She later apologised for not sending the shuttle bus for our arrival as she was too busy to check her emails that day. Surprising as the hotel was nearly empty.
On the first night we had an outside flood light shining directly into our room, no shutters or blackout curtains. We were given another room when we complained the next day, no front of desk after 3.00. Breakfast was pretty dismal, bread, a toaster, coffee, a bit of cheese and cold meat. The lady of the hotel who speaks little English but did her best to make us welcome, quickly made us some boiled eggs and bacon when she saw our dismay.
Despite all this the hotel staff, a family affair, gave us helpful information about local busses and attraction. The wifi was woeful however
This hotel is probably best for a high season holiday as many of the hotel amenities were not available when we stayed in late April.
