“Relaxed and comfortable ambience”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

A very relaxed and comfortable place with great hospitality. Clean, well done and every reasonable need catered to by the very warm owner Anil Bajaj with his team.

Sit in the verandah or the terrace or the garden and watch the mist rolling in ! A fabulous experience.

Most hill stays have a water problem but here we faced none but please don't use it as a laundry !! :)

The room are well done, with plenty of light and air. Well designed windows and spotlessly clean

Anil deserves kudos for starting and running this venture besides being great company

I would definitely choose this time again as a discerning traveler

Room Tip: The ''upper end''

We booked Stone Heights based on the reviews we saw on Tripadvisor. I must say that the place lived up to the expectations and much more.

Located in a quiet corner on the Nainital - Bhowali route in Gethiya Village, its in stark contrast to the hustle and bustle one encounters in a place like Nainital.

Mr Anil Bajaj is a gracious host and our interactions with him, right from the reservations, to ensuring that our travel is convenient and that we reach safely, down to our stay at the cottage made us feel welcome and at home.

The cottage has been done up recently and the room facilities, decor and cleanliness is upto european standards. The lower room has a lovely fireplace and all rooms have huge french windows that add to the ambience.

The cottage has nice sit outs in the front, a garden where the kids can play, and a cozy dining place where you can have meals according to your palate. The food was home cooked and quite delicious and the service attentive. The cook and caretaker can dish up a good variety of meals based on your food choices. You also have a barbeque zone on the terrace.

Gethiya is a small village and ideal for those looking to spend some time alone in solitude. Its also a good base to explore the tals around.

All in all a blissful experience at this lovely homestay.

If one needs to find warmth, luxury, comfort, peace and some awfully breathtaking sights of nature, Stone Heights is the place to be. From the ceremonious warm welcome with the owner, Mr. Bajaj to the first look of our room, and to die for beautiful sights, it seemed everything was too good to be true. We stayed with our 4 year old kid and after the madness of nainital, this sojourn came as the ideal place for our family of 4 including my mother who just doesn't like mountains but even she vouched for the virgin beauty spread around. The views from the room and decor will make you fall in love with the place instantly. The food was homely and all amenities were provided for with great hospitality so much so that we even went on to celebrate our kid's birthday at such an idyllic place. Would recommend to one and all and definitely, it deserves a second visit.

Room Tip: Although all rooms are great but the master bedroom with purple curtains and an English feel is a to...

Stone Heights was a perfect getaway for us. Far from the city crowds, this lovely cottage is placed on the mountains of Gethia. Less than an hours drive from Nainital and other tourist destinations (Nanda Devi, Naina peak etc), it is perfectly located to ensure that we had fun and had enough time to relax. The view from the rooms were beautiful and it felt good to be in a peaceful location far from the city.
We rented out all 3 bedrooms for 5 days, and the cook made delicious food as per our requests!
The cottage itself is pretty, with a very British feel to it, the red roof looks inviting in the evening and the fireplaces keep the cottage warm.
It was very easy to access this place, following the main road and the directions given by the owners. We drove from Delhi, but others can take a train and then a taxi.
Since we were there in the winters, we also witnessed snowfall! I am sure it will be a wonderful escape from the heat during summer months.

Room Tip: Clarify whether you want a double bed or 2 single beds for your room during booking.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Most of us, especially from the corporate sector have this dream of dropping it all and making a house somewhere on the hills ! So i gave in to my dream..dropped my 29 year advertising career and the bustle of Mumbai and Delhi and made this home that just got finished mid 2014 ! Though you know ,a home is never finished !! Stone heights is what i decided to call it.. a Home Stay,a B&B Villa , call it whatever! Set amidst dense Oak trees and greenery on its own pvt. grounds on a jungle mountainside. It is a Villa in stone & wood with an colonial feel.large, airy rooms with huge windows. All rooms have attached contemporary baths. Interesting twists, wooden stairs, stone fireplace, bay window, rock steps all to get you feeling closer to nature and yet with all modern facilities to make you feel comfortable.( cable/net/dvd..) Meal / snacks service available. Being a Home stay it is also my home , and so basic comforts can be taken for granted like hot water, equipped kitchen, washing machine etc..Its a place to unwind,relax...be away in your own world ! I have seen over the few months of experience that i have gained that it is perfectly suited for people with smaller children and infants as they have special kitchen needs etc which are most easily handled due to the kitchen access to the guests... ... more   less
