We spotted Adventure Tours Norway's booking tent when we left our cruise ship in Skjolden. It was a spur of the moment decision to join a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) tour which turned out to be one of the highlights of the Norway Cruise.
Each RIB takes only 10 passengers and we were soon kitted kitted out in full dry suits (and goggles for those sitting at the front). The trip started quite sedately but very quickly our driver opened up the throttle and we were hurtling down the fjord.
I didn't get the driver's name but he was excellent - stopping at various points along the fjord to tell us about points of interest and making loops etc. to make the journey exciting. We spent around 45 minutes on the water.
Skjolden itself is a sleepy little town (absolutely nothing wrong with that) but it well worth seeking out Adventure Tours to inject some high octane fun into your visit. It was also considerably cheaper than booking a RIB trip on board the cruise ship (these had been offered at out previous port of call, Olden).
