Its a little off the beaten path but that makes the sleep soooo wonderfully relaxing. Penny makes it your home for the duration of your stay and has wonderful recommendations for local food and sights. The breakfast was superb, the fresh fruit from the orchard and the fresh flowers from the garden were the perfect touches of luxury. The fact that you're staying in a beautiful thatched roof farmhouse with open beams and interesting old architectural quirks is so quintessentially English it makes the visit.

Thank you Penny

Off the beaten Track Country residence.
Penny Steadman is your welcoming host to the family home.
Furnished with character this home is full of interesting curves and less than level lines.
A lovely retreat from Urbanisation. One to appreciate.
This makes one desire a holiday full of B&B's. Cheaper than a Hotel. More intimate with a personal touch.

Cannot speak highly enough of this B&B. The warmest of welcomes and all you could ever ask for in a B&B. Accommodation as good as in a separate annexe and with your own sitting room so very relaxing. Bedrooms, bathrooms and breakfast lacked for nothing - would not hesitate to return and spread the word. Cottage itself picture postcard beautiful and in fantastic countryside near to Dartmoor, could not have felt further away from it all - a delight. Not sure what the last reviewer is on about, if you're afraid of a friendly cat or dog and a bumpy drive I suggest you stay out of the countryside. Hosts incdredibly accommodating and prices incredibly reasonable - the four or us staying thought it the bargain of Devon.

Room Tip: No dud, all three are great.

Loved it BUT needs a shower ! Nearly twisted my ankle on the uneven drive way, dangerous when wet and in the dark.Heating seems restricted in it's use !
Breakfast was very good with lots of choice, the cat did put in an appearance on more than one occasion which rather annoying.
Would stay again but only in the summer.

Staying here was like dipping into a copy of Homes and Gardens, a spotless cottage farmhouse.Once you have negotiated the small spiral stairway there is an immense bedroom with a huge comfy bed, fresh fruit etc, everything has been thought of, down to the electric blanket. We stayed with our adult daughter it was just perfect for us. We were invited for homemade lemon drizzle cake and flapjacks with our afternoon tea, there were so many tasteful books and interesting features to gaze at. We dined in The Old Thatch Inn on Penny's recommendation the food was fantastic !. Breakfast did not disappoint, homemade conserves, fresh fruit juice, fabulous cooked breakfast all locally sourced. We shared a bathroom with our daughter just a shower over the bath but to be honest this only enhanced our experience of immersing ourselves in the 'County Living' feel.
