Visited one quiet , cold January, wednesday lunch time. Lovely log fire in lounge, staff very welcoming. 3 of us in party, two had fish and chips, one burger, 5 small lagers and one coke, with dners club card, bill came to just over £22! Fabulous value, excellent large portions, friendly staff. Good local country pub, some walkers with wet boots etc were made very welcome. All in all, wel recommended for "good pub grub". Not pretentious like larger pub round the corner. Will certainly visit again

the steak and ale pie was up there with the best ive ever had. and the service was top notch too,u it was a quite monday night twixt xmas and new year but the place whilst not too busy was also very cosy and warm. the starters were excellent a portobello mushroom with goats cheese was sublime and the antipasti very filling a meal in itself. the popularity of the place was shown when the barstaff told us that some of the main courses had sold out. not to worry the main courses were superb. the pub is run by the wharfebank brewery a stone throw away so real ale lovers are in for a treat too. we dined on the hi-life diners club scheme and the bill for 2 2 course meals was a wallet friendly £15.50 no doubt we will be back very soon

We went to the Half Moon with Living Social vouchers, we were greeted on arrival found a table and were brought the menu all quickly. We had home made Fish Chips & Peas which were piping hot when served. The place was very busy as it was Saturday evening so we had a bit of a wait for the meal but not excessive considering the amount of people dining. One or two items on the menu had sold out but there was plenty more to choose from.
The car park was not the easiest to negotiate as it's round the back where there is also a garage,
All in all a good do !!

I arrived mid afternoon and was welcomed by the owner and bar staff who were extremely helpful and assertive. The stoves were lovely and warm and made it a real homely atmosphere.

We both had a meal and it was lovely and got a good sized portion too. The burger was succulent and the chips were nice and chunky too.

There was a band for entertainment and we found the locals very welcoming.

The twin room we were staying in was spacious and had a large bathroom too and I had a really good nights sleep.

Overall it was a very relaxed and friendly place. Will definitely visit again!

Just had a meal at The Half Moon and would never visit again. We booked in advance and reserved a table for 6pm. First impressions were the place looked a bit worn out and with a total of 4 dogs in the bar area with different owners thought it a little odd. Bar lady said she would come to our table to get our drinks order but after 20mins of waiting decided to go back to the bar ourselves. Kids started to complain they were hungry, food eventually came an hour and a half later!!!! - no apology when they were given to us and no reason. Food really not worth the wait, both chose moo-n cow which lacked flavour and the spice promised. Kids meal not very tasty looking. Will go back to the white hart or wharfedale next time.

I turned up at the half moo in and the guy behind the be was very friendly. Showed me to the room. Spacious with all the expected accessories. The bed however was another thing. The covers looked at least 10 years old and we're incredibly faded and balled as was the sheet and pillow covers. The pillows were cheap and flat. I didnot want to spend a night in that bed. There is a lot of noise from the bar downstairs and it could be. Problem if you wanted an early night. I left 30 mins later and went to the Chevin lodge for only £10 more per night B&b
