We were travelling back from Leeds avoiding the motorway looking for somewhere nice to stop for some tea. What a lovely place to stop old and modern all in one place with a delicious beef Sunday roast! So good there was no room for pudding!

we have passed this hotel/restaurant several times and today 20/12/13 as we were in the area and decided to try it. The ambiance is very good, we had a warm reception, shown to a waiting area and given menus while our table was readied. My wife asked if the soup of the day was gluten free, but then decided for another gluten free dish instead, When our order for the main course was taken we were told that the lamb was cooked on the pink side. I asked for my lamb to be medium rare, and the wife wanted hers well done.
When the starters came the wife had her goats cheese but we also received a gluten free version of the soup, soon remedied as bread was brought to the table.
The main course then arrived my mother in law had pheasant nicely plated but a severe lack of veg 1 small fried/roasted potato, being 80 and a farmer she has a healthy appetite, when requested and extra potato arrived, my grand-daughter had the biggest portion of chips (she is 4yrs) her mum had steak and about 6 chips. Then the 2 lamb dishes arrived, it was with potatoes in cheese and garlic the lamb was placed in front of us and we were told the potatoes were coming, after about 5 minutes I asked a waiter if the potatoes were in deed coming, and there they came. Sorry to say that the wife could not eat her lamb, being a farmers daughter she said she would kill one but would want it cooked, her Lamb was very very pink.Because of a lack of understanding a lovely meal was spoiled such a shame. It is because of this experience that I can only give an average mark for service

Called into this Hotel after a walk round Fewston ( we came from nearby York ) and was really pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the place was inside with 3 log fires and lots of cosy seating. The food was exceptional and so was the service and it was reasonably priced. What a gem of a place, I can't wait to go back and would highly recommend it, so much so that we are going to book our Christmas dinner here. More people should know about this place....

Called into the hopper today and we were greeted by a lovely log fire and very friendly service. We had a platter share plate and the tastiest chips we've ever had. The quality of food was excellent as was the service. Would highly recommend. Thanks.

We stopped off here on our way up to Settle, looking for a welcoming, dog friendly place to eat - and we weren't disappointed! We had a lunch of ham and cheese sandwich - which was gorgeous, and cauliflower and Stilton soup with a side order of chips - my husband declared the soup and chips were the best he'd ever tasted, and that's saying something!! Sat in the bar area in front of the lovely open log fire, welcoming hospitality and good food, what more could you ask for! Thank you for a lovely start to our holiday in the Yorkshire dales, we'll definitely be back!

Just been to the Hopper for lunch today with my little four year old Benjamin and is was DELIGHTFUL! A lovely roaring fire, VERY welcoming staff (Graham the bar man was lovely) and Penny (the owner) jumped up to get Benjamin some paper, crayons and stickers, which was a nice touch. And the food...TO DIE FOR!! I would DEFINITLEY recommend the roast lamb sandwich and thrice cooked chips and Benjamin ordered off the 'Little People' menu and had ham, cheese and tomato as a starter and then a delish Roast Beef main. We will DEFINITELY go there again! Thank you! Sarah Rishworth x
