This hotel was very convenient for our walk around Fewston reservoir, which we completed in a few hours and arrived for our lunch at 1p.m. The proprietress was very welcoming and we chose a table near the blazing fire. The menu was varied and the food good, with some unusual dishes. Flexibility was shown for my restricted diet. The roasted vegetables were very tasty. We chose to share a dessert, but found the chocolate gateau rather heavy, though the ice-cream which we prefer to cream was enjoyable. Our meal was not cheap, but the triple decker sandwiches, which our fellow diners had chosen looked to be good value for the cost. Given the prices this would be a place we would return to for a special occasion rather than calling in for an ordinary lunch.
