“Good but not great”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

We went to chevin for a two night stay. The layout is a bit unexpected in that it's pretty much all grass roofed chalet type properties set in woodland. Very peaceful and quiet. It feels a bit old fashioned but the staff are very friendly and the food was pretty good if expensive. We had the taster menu. My husband enjoyed it but there were quiet a few things on it that I didn't like. The wine was very good though. The lack of signal is an issue if you are relying on your iphone to browse for nearby attractions and things to do. Got very frustrating after just a couple of days. In terms of the spa the changing rooms and the pool and very small , the outdoor hot tub is nice and the therapy bit gets booked up very quickly so you have to plan in advance. I managed to get a facial which was very good. Quiet enjoyed it but wouldn't rush back.

have used Crerar hotels on many occasions and this is one of the best. Staff are first class, food to die for , rooms warm and cosy, facilities include outside tub. All this and only 15/20 minutes into Leeds and Harrogate

Room Tip: main building is great if you want to be near facilities/ restaurant. However lodges are secluded an...

Several Spa packages to choose from and easy on the pocket too. Warm and welcoming reception and welcoming staff who will direct you to the spa. My colleagues and I had the Afternoon Tea deal included choice of a 30 minute spa treatment, afternoon tea(yummy scones, cream and jam, sandwiches and tea) and full use of the leisure facilities, so remember to bring the costume. I was so impressed with the location and the packages I hope to encourage my friends to join me in a Girls Night in Spa Break in one of the log cabins in the grounds. We did not stay in the hotel accommodation but glanced a few of the rooms which were cosy and inviting.

Overall a very enjoyable overnight stay. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, food excellent, we had the six course taster menu, which was delicious and so too was the breakfast. The only downside to our stay was the pool area which seriously needs renovating, we were concerned with the cleanliness of the pool and jacuzzi, we found the tiles around top of the water were covered in a black scum line it was not pleasant to swim in! If we returned it would be because of the fantastic food and the pleasing staff.

My husband and I stayed for two nights on a groupon deal this week, £95 for two nights B&B. Very comfortable hotel, we had a basic room, which although small was well equipped with tea and coffee, biscuits, hairdryer, TV, toiletries, iron and ironing board, everything you could have wanted. The reception area was warm and welcoming and the staff were lovely. It reminded us of a mini "Twin Peaks" hotel! The breakfast was amazing, especially the french toast with smoked bacon and maple syrup. The only down side we would say was the price of the food and drink and we decided to eat out both nights. There is a pub just down the road, The Royalty, which was very welcoming and had fantastic views over Leeds and Bradford, the food here though was a big let down, we had baked camembert, which was cold and did not live up to the description and belly pork which although tasty was very fatty and not crispy as expected, served with raw carrots and what tasted like a packet sauce, we could just have been unlucky but we did also over hear another party complaining about the dessert, and the management didn't seem to be too bothered about the complaints, not even offering a free coffee or much of an apology for that matter. There is however a fantastic Indian restaurant in Otley, The Royal Saffron, although not a plush interior the food was amazing, especially the award winning Nirali Special, and if you are there on a Tuesday they offer a four course meal for just £9.95, although we would have been happy to pay the normal price for such good quality food. The Dales are a short drive away and well worth a visit absolutely amazing scenery and quaint villages with warm welcomes and cosy pubs. Back to the hotel, all in all a lovely place to stay where you can just relax and unwind, not even having to leave the grounds, or a great base if, like us, you like to get out and about and get a real feel for the place.

Welcoming place.....great setting. ...Lovely restaurant and bar food. Our room in one of the lodges was warm and comfortable but found it noisy from adjoining rooms. A great place to stay for exploring the Yorkshire countryside.

Bought this break through Spa Breaks direct........ and what a find. Felt relaxed from the moment we checked in. The spa was wonderful with fabulous staff. The food was amazing. If I had to make a negative comment it would be the room, which was a lodge, needed a slight update. Overall the stay, spa, food and customer service was excellent
