Recently stayed at The Chevin Country Park & Spa Hotel, my boyfriend and I have already planned our return!

Absolutely stunning area with a restaurant over looking the lake and surrounding grounds. Food was lovely, couldn't fault it and the service was excellent. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff.

This place is just lovely, so much better than your ordinary hotel! I can imagine this place is excellent near Christmas.. Cosy with log fires and log buildings/cabins.

Clean and comfortable rooms in the lodges, the beds are comfortable which is always a bonus when you're after a decent nights sleep!

Over all extremely pleased with this hotel, excellent value for money - booked through laterooms.com and got a great deal for the night!

Absolutely beautiful stay... lovely staff, clean room and the restaurant was exceptional. Breakfast was 5 star and the grounds are beautiful. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon.

Stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate my husbands 60th Birthday - a bit of a mixed bag!
Here's the good bits!
Very friendly reception staff. Stayed in a log cabin in the woodland which was fab and having plenty of room and outdoor space for our dog was brilliant. Bar staff really friendly, efficient and professional. Ate in dining room first night - food really good (see not so good bits!) and ate in bar second night which was also good. Used pool and spa. Jacuzzi and steam room very relaxing. Breakfast excellent.
Now the not so good bits!
Seated behind a pillar in the dining room when there were plenty of empty tables over looking the lake - why? We were moved when we complained. Had the oysters which were delicious but served without any lemon / lime or tabasco. No salt and pepper on the table either. Main courses served without any cutlery. Although breakfast was excellent, getting any salt and pepper was very painful! Ordered newspapers to be delivered to our room with breakfast, but they never arrived! Bottled water in room not replenished for our second night. Outside hot tub was freezing cold!
All our niggles were dealt with efficiently but this is basic hospitality and shouldn't have happened in the first place given the amount of money the 2 nights cost.
All in all a very good relaxing break but very mixed messages given out by the service the hotel provides.

Room Tip: Would recommend the log cabins in the woodland - very pretty and peaceful with parking directly outside the cabin door.

stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter. log cabins were very dated, bathroom freezing heater not working. spa facilities inadequate, something out of the sixties-badly in need of upgrading. Very casual attitude to repairs- when reporting the broken heater and the door out to the jacuzzi needing fixing, it was oh yes maintenance are aware of it... well go on , fix it...
I agree with a previous comment, some basic staff training wouldnt go amiss, also some basic availability in the bar, eg, worcester sauce, cranberry juice, amaretto?
The actual spa and restaurant staff are lovely and treatments excellent, the food was also excellent.but if you have bought a package saying.fruit basket, robes and slippers in the room, you expect them to be there. Also if you order a bottle of sparkling wine you want it poured into flutes not chunky cheap wine glasses so badly poured it is a mass of bubbles...and a wine bucket to put it in??

we had a groupon booking for 4 nights and it was certainly value for money. We had a room in the main block so not a log cabin but decor certainly made it feel as if you were in a cabin and with luxury of not having to go outside for facilities. bathroom a bit dated and shower lacked power but only real complaints. oh and bottled water and biscuits not replenished after first day.would agree with recent reviewer that walls are thin.
the breakfast is a real treat with lots of menu choices - try the french cinnamon toast. We didn't use the restaurant in the evening but ate in the bar a couple of times. All very good. Didn't get to use the exercise facilities.

Room Tip: Rooms in main hotel block mean you don't have to walk outside to breakfast etc
