“perfect doggie family pub - outskirts of Otley”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Met up with friends we hadn't seen for some 25 years Both couples had a doggie with us! They had their 'Tuesday,' menu two courses for £10.' You could choose which two you had - we all had a starter and main course brilliant food, service and ambience. Would recommend to anybody. Well done Roebuck we'll be back.

“Fabulous Food”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

This is a really lovely eatery in a lovely setting. The restaurant, skirted by an outside decked area, is spacious with beautiful views. The menu is hearty using locally sourced Yorkshire produce. I'd recommend the beetroot tartlet starter which is smothered with Harrogate Yorkshire Blue cheese- just lovely. I also took the calves liver which was perfect. If you like pies you won't be disappointed as the range is extensive. The presentation is good as is the service, very welcoming, helpful and polite. They also have a nice range of real ales and wine list. I thought this was great value for money and will definitely return. This would be a great venue for a family celebration. There is also a ramped approach for wheelchair users.

“A good pub with rather stylish food”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

Five of us went to have a birthday lunch on a midweek day. The food was good but the service was patchy, sometimes attentive and at others a little distant.
We had a good time but I feel it could have been really memorable if the team had engaged more.

“2 our of 7 meals were bad”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Went for a family meal last night. 7 of us. 5 meals were what you would expect from a pub meal, albeit a little expensive IMHO. 2 meals were pretty bad. Toad in the hole usually means that there will be a Yorkshire Pudding involved, however it came as a very flat, only just cooked pancake. The Meat and Potato pie needed a pick axe to break the pastry.
Because this was a family meal I decided not to make a fuss but would hesitate to go there again with so many other good places around locally.

“Nice enough but slow service.”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

We visited for a family meal for 12 people. We booked a Thursday evening thinking it wouldn't be too busy, a slight mistake. The restaurant appeared busy and we were put in a snug to seat us all together. The food itself was ok but the service was so slow, for drinks and food. We had been sat an hour before our mains arrived, it's just too long. I had the Roebuck pie, the filling was nice but too much short crust pastry for me, it must've been half an inch thick. One of my aunties had a salad that she wasn't impressed with. I've been once in the past for lunch and really enjoyed it. Maybe it was just because they were so busy and we were unlucky this time.
