AC Hotel La Linea

We stayed at this hotel due to its proximity to Gibraltar and my family's house which we went to visit, the hotel is aimed towards executives and as such is really good, but it does not have many amenities for families. It has a swimming pool but we did not try it as it was winter and the water looked kind of dirty; we got a room with a view to the patio and not the the sea and that also was slightly disappointing, but the hotel was very clean and the room was spotless.
Main drawbacks was the lack of a kettle in the room and the limited storage space, also the shower in the bath was leaking water in the floor so the bathroom was usually full of water after taking showers (we reported it to the staff hotel upon leaving and they were going to check it out).
On the positive side, the beds are big and comfortable and the staff is very friendly, also it is very close to the marina and about 10-15 minute walk to the city centre with all its cafes and shops.
We did not try breakfast as the hotel as we thought it was pricy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view to the Sea.

Good location for the rock, friendly hotel with parking to be found in the streets round about, if you don't want the hassle, the hotel garage is easy. Its a good location for a visit to Gibraltar. Break fast is adequate, not a big choice.

Just a 20 min walk to the rock customs or 4.25€ by taxi

We stayed at the AC as we had a wedding to go to in Gibraltar. It took us approximately 20 minutes to walk to the border. Our room was spotlessly clean and well furnished with a lovely view of Gibraltar and the ocean. Parking was free and plentiful on the street outside. Staff were friendly and cheerful. We were really pleased with our choice!

I stayed at this hotel twice last year and was pleased with my choice on both occasions, with a cheap underground car park, swimming pool, great bathrooms, you only have to make sure you get a room at the front of the hotel to get a great view of the Rock and bay where you can view the local Spanish police driving away yachts at anchor in the shelter of the breakwater, using the bow wave and wash of their own powerful patrol boats!!
Breakfast is simple and not always replenished when items run out, so if you're hungry don't leave breakfast too late. Free WiFi in all areas of the hotel makes keeping in touch simple and if you're heading for la Chiminea tapas bar, it's only 10 minutes walk away!

Room Tip: Try and get a 4th floor room at front of house!

Prezzo: (escluso garage a € 9) Euro 55. Tutto sommato buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Consigliato per struttura e posizione.

I stayed in this hotel as a base to visit Gibraltar, although it's not really close to the border (but with a 20-minutes walk, you can reach it easily, and in ten minutes you can reach the central area of the La Linea). The simplicity is the main protagonist: the hotel, outside and inside, is simple and functional. Also the room and bathroom, clean and minimalist, followthe same line. The bed is comfortable and the environment quite.The staff hasty, but polite and efficient. I didn't take advantage of the breakfast. Shame for the area quite degraded (a bit like the whole town as my impression), but in my opinion definitely not Dangerous (I came back from city center in the night withouth any problem). Price: (excl. garage at € 9) Euro 55. All in all a good quality / price ratio. Recommended for structure and location.

Room Tip: Consiglio le stanze ai piani più alti in quanto molto tranquille e, se si è in auto, di utilizzare i...

Expected better service and facility considering it is part of Marriott chain. Ask for room facing the bay, back rooms are terrible view. Rooms are modern, clean and very nice. Gym facility is a joke, one stationery bike and a weight bench. Pool appears permanently closed, water is brown and there is a barricade across entrance. There is a var area but never appears to be open. Breakfast buffet is fine and not bad price when added to room price when booking.
Major advantage is the hotel location, only 15 minute walk to Gibraltar border avoiding car traffic lines that can take 3 hours or more to cross border. Around hotel there is very little, local gym, one or two restaurants, best bet is to cross over to Gibraltar.

Room Tip: Front of hotel with balcony

I stayed in this hotel for two nights, these are my findings.

POSITIVE:
* fast check inn and friendly staff (they speak English although some of them not very well)
* nice room with balcony
* elevator
* free coffee and some soft drinks in the lounge
* very good breakfast (lots of choice)

NEGATIVE:
* free WIFI only in public areas
* my balcony was very dirty (hasn't been cleaned for ages)
* pool was not open (early October) and the area was dirty
* nothing to do in the vicinity of the hotel (no restaurants, bars, ...)

Room Tip: Try to get the room with Gibraltar's rock view.
