“Nice hotel, but wish I'd opted for one closer to Gibraltar”
Reviewed 2 February 2014

It's a Marriott, if you're familiar with them - you're familiar with this hotel. Pretty large, clean, & nice but generically appointed rooms, and pretty good service. For anyone from the US, there's not even a point in looking at photos - it looks just like any Marriot derivative or similar hotel chain. The only particulars I'd add is:

If you're staying here to visit Gibraltar, maybe reconsider. It may just be me, but I underestimated how long the walk was to both 1.) Gibraltar, and 2.) The central La Linea bus station - which is almost right across from the border with Gibraltar. This is a nice hotel, but maybe I should have gotten a less nice one, that was more closely located to that bus station/the border.

Though to be fair - in terms of train - doesn't matter. The train station is 10km out of town no matter what, so all hotels are equal on that.

Overall it's a nice hotel - and exactly what you'd expect from a Marriot or Marriot sub-brand (and slightly cheap for that brand, actually), but the location hurt more than I had expected.

We stayed at this hotel after booking at the last moment. I was was not expecting to be so impressed. Spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and cheerful. Gorgeous views of Gibralter and the sea. Outstanding value for money and the AC is top of my list for a return visit. Many thanks for a surprisingly really comfortable stay!

We stayed at this hotel due to its proximity to Gibraltar and my family's house which we went to visit, the hotel is aimed towards executives and as such is really good, but it does not have many amenities for families. It has a swimming pool but we did not try it as it was winter and the water looked kind of dirty; we got a room with a view to the patio and not the the sea and that also was slightly disappointing, but the hotel was very clean and the room was spotless.
Main drawbacks was the lack of a kettle in the room and the limited storage space, also the shower in the bath was leaking water in the floor so the bathroom was usually full of water after taking showers (we reported it to the staff hotel upon leaving and they were going to check it out).
On the positive side, the beds are big and comfortable and the staff is very friendly, also it is very close to the marina and about 10-15 minute walk to the city centre with all its cafes and shops.
We did not try breakfast as the hotel as we thought it was pricy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view to the Sea.

Good location for the rock, friendly hotel with parking to be found in the streets round about, if you don't want the hassle, the hotel garage is easy. Its a good location for a visit to Gibraltar. Break fast is adequate, not a big choice.

Just a 20 min walk to the rock customs or 4.25€ by taxi

We stayed at the AC as we had a wedding to go to in Gibraltar. It took us approximately 20 minutes to walk to the border. Our room was spotlessly clean and well furnished with a lovely view of Gibraltar and the ocean. Parking was free and plentiful on the street outside. Staff were friendly and cheerful. We were really pleased with our choice!

I stayed at this hotel twice last year and was pleased with my choice on both occasions, with a cheap underground car park, swimming pool, great bathrooms, you only have to make sure you get a room at the front of the hotel to get a great view of the Rock and bay where you can view the local Spanish police driving away yachts at anchor in the shelter of the breakwater, using the bow wave and wash of their own powerful patrol boats!!
Breakfast is simple and not always replenished when items run out, so if you're hungry don't leave breakfast too late. Free WiFi in all areas of the hotel makes keeping in touch simple and if you're heading for la Chiminea tapas bar, it's only 10 minutes walk away!

Room Tip: Try and get a 4th floor room at front of house!

Prezzo: (escluso garage a € 9) Euro 55. Tutto sommato buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Consigliato per struttura e posizione.

I stayed in this hotel as a base to visit Gibraltar, although it's not really close to the border (but with a 20-minutes walk, you can reach it easily, and in ten minutes you can reach the central area of the La Linea). The simplicity is the main protagonist: the hotel, outside and inside, is simple and functional. Also the room and bathroom, clean and minimalist, followthe same line. The bed is comfortable and the environment quite. The staff hasty, but polite and efficient. I didn't take advantage of the breakfast. Shame for the area quite degraded (a bit like the whole town as my impression), but in my opinion definitely not Dangerous (I came back from city center in the night withouth any problem). Price: (excl. garage at € 9) Euro 55. All in all a good quality / price ratio. Recommended for structure and location.

Room Tip: Consiglio le stanze ai piani più alti in quanto molto tranquille e, se si è in auto, di utilizzare i...
