We just recently spent 3 perfect nights at La Calma and fell in love with Ribadesella and Asturias. La Calma is beautiful and our room was incredibly relaxing. Morelia was the perfect host and helped us plan our days down to every detail. Strongly recommend visiting Ribadesella and staying at La Calma!

Dear Rickyjsilver

I´m glad that you enjoyed your stay at La Calma and that you fell in love with this beautiful coastal town of Ribadesella. The same thing happened to me 9 years ago, which is why I left London and decided to live here.

Many thanks for sharing your experience at La Calma.

We hope to see you again in the future and who lows maybe even have you as neighbours ;)

Lots of love xxx

Morelia

I stayed at La Calma during June 2008, as part of the prize I won with Nivea SA. Sarah Maxwell was my own personal trainer for the week and the two of us were totally spoiled by Morelia Bueno, the Owner of  La Calma. This Guest House is set in the Country side of Ribadesella, in the Northern part of Spain and this offers a very scenic view from your room window. The room is very neat, clean and modern with crisp, clean linen. The room even had a Nespresso coffee machine, which is that extra touch one needs after such a long travel from SA.
Breakfast was always fresh and although no dinners are included in the tariff, Morelia went out of hour way to offer supper at her home, or to drive is to Town to enjoy supper at 1 of the many Restaurants offering gr8 seafood. I absolutely loved the view from my shower window too, which looks out on the country road, frequented by horses, cows an old farmers strolling by at their own pace. I felt the sense of a town where time stood still and with La Calma being walking distance from Town, one is able to visit the weekly Local Market where the Farmers offer their own fresh produce. There is lots to see, including a Museum and beautiful old buildings, including Churches, enough Restaurants offering 7 course meals and their own Apple Cider made locally. The Ocean is in walking distance, with a Boardwalk offering beautiful scenic hiking routes and views of the ocean. I can recommend La Calma for that personal touch! Wi-Fi is available too. I hope to one day return to La Calma, where I not only stayed, but also made a friend. Morelia is excellent for yoga sessions too :-)

We stayed for one night as part of a brief tour of Asturias. The room and facilities were perfect, modern and spotlessly clean. Morelia, our host, was attentive and personable and provided us with lots of good recommendations and information for our ongoing trip. We have no hesitation in recommending La Calma and hope to stay there again in the future.

We found this place in toprural.com while spending a few days this August in Asturias. La Calma is a beautiful "casa rural" in which you can immediately feel at home. Although more expensive than other lodgings we were considering, we decided to book it as it is a completely different experience, it looks like a 5 star hotel, everything decorated with great taste. You need only look at their web page to see what I mean.

Morelia, the owner of the place, is an excellent host and certainly helps making you feel at home. She provided great tips both for eating and visiting in the area. We didn't have time to book a massage at La Calma (they provide this service), as we only stayed one night, but we surely will when we go next to Ribadesella.

The bed was extremely comfortable, something extremely important for a good night of sleep and that you don't always find in this type of places. The only thing we missed was a bathtub for a relaxing bath aft a long day walking around! (our room only had a shower)

Excellent place, highly recommended!

Javier

Thank you very much for you comments on La Calma. Although it was only a night as you mention it was a pleasure to meet you both. And how lucky that we had one left ...You are such adventurers visiting this area in August with no previous bookings !!

All the best wishes for both of you. Hope to see you again.

Lots of love,

Morelia

The owner was very polite and helpful, the hotel was small, quiet and beautifull but there is certainly room for improvement. For example if you have such a nice plase close to the nature (as this hotel is) you should be enriching the breakfast with fresh products (e.g. fresh juise to start with!). In general the breakfast needs to be imroved. The room was a little bit cold and I did not like that the coffee and the tea were under charge.

Besides that, the hotel is decent.

My husband and I began our trip to Spain at the quaint town of Ribadesella and stayed three nights at La Calma for some rest and relaxation in the country. La Calma was a wonderful place to unwind after all of our traveling and the town provided great insight for Asturian life on the coast. The rooms were very clean and the fixtures were updated. Morelia has a warmth about her which really makes you feel at home. Breakfast was plentiful and a tasty way to start the day of exploring all the small towns in the area and the coastline's picturesque beaches. Both she and Teresa gave us great restaurant recommendations and day trip ideas. Morelia suggested having lunch at the Mirador's San Roque restaurant in the town of Lastres. It provides a stunning view of the Bay of Biscay while dining on the freshest seafood and wine. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in Ribadesella thanks to the tranquil atmosphere of La Calma and its surroundings.

We stayed one night at La Calma and it was a fantastic experience - only wished we could have stayed longer. The massage and the gourmet dinner at a local restaurant (all part of the package) was wonderful! The rooms are beautifully furnished and the coffee machine in the room was a real bonus. This is a place to go to get away from it all and unwind. Highly recommended!!
