“Wonderful views of the Sea”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

The hotel is situated on the promenade overlooking the sea. We had a room with a balcony so we could watch the waves rolling in. The room was very nice, very clean and the staff were very helpful. About ten minutes walk to the centre of town with a nice harbour.

Charming small hotel, excellent location in a resort with the best Asturian food possible. Very friendly welcoming staff and a great breakfast will definitely be returning to this hotel. Well worth paying for a sea view.

Room Tip: Worth paying extra for balcony and sea view

We stayed here because we had seen its location on a previous visit to Ribadesella. We asked for a room overlooking the sea on the top floor and that is what we got. The rooms are clean and comfortable but suffer from not being air-conditioned. There is no fridge either. On the plus side, there is free wi-fi and the breakfast is excellent and reasonably priced. We stayed in the first week of September and had no problem parking on the street, although on one occasion we could only find a spot a couple of hundred meters up the road. The town is an easy and very pleasant 15 minute stroll and there is no street noise. We were not disturbed by other guests as others have reported but this must be pot-luck.

We stayed in this nice hotel by the beach mainly because it was in the area of the Picos de Europa and we wanted to be by the sea surrounded by mountains. Nice rooms and although we were on the side of the hotel (one of possibly only 2 rooms without balcony) we had a good view of the sea. The staff were very nice and obliging and although our Spanish is poor and most of them didn't speak English, we managed perfectly to make ourselves understood - it's always a challenge!!! The breakfast is continental buffet and plenty of it. There is a lovely promenade along the beach with some facinating old houses and their history to look at. The walk into town over the bridge took about 10-15 minutes depending which way you went. The Picos de Europa (a beautiful range of mountains and national park) are about 40 minutes away and is ideal for sightseeing and trekking, well worth a visit. The town of Ribadesella is a lovely old Spanish town, lots of restaurants and shops and little walks (nice walk up to the old church on the hill).

We decided to pay the price for a seaview room, even though it seemed very expensive for out of season.
Great aspect from the (tiny) balcony overlooking the sea, although the rooms are not large and pretty standard.
Took ages to check in because the receptionist was on the phone and there was no one else around.
All was well until 1am when a small group of people returned and filled the rooms above. I don't think they were being especially noisy but you could hear every footstep, wardrobes closing etc. And from next door, we could hear the toilet flushing as if we were in the same room.
The group then got up about 7.30am so we were woken up again.
At this price, guests should expect to be able to sleep.
Nice breakfast room, though!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms may be a bit quieter?

I think this is a very nice place for couples. My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the rooms on the top floor overlooking the beach and we were delighted. The neighborhood is tranquil and Ribadesella’s old town is just 10-15 min away walking. The staff at Don Pepe was also very attentive.

I know this place is not a frugal option, but I think it is worth it.

Room Tip: Try a room on the top floor overlooking the beach

Arrived on the day (part of honeymoon trip) and asked for available rooms. Paid 80 euros for a night which we though to be fair (on face value) to stay in a lovely hotel by the beach. We then went to find our room and it was in an "annex", more of an apartment block over a road behind the hotel. We still thought it might be ok and planned to find somewhere else the next day.
It was awful. Noise all night long. It echoed through the building and neither of us got any sleep at all. People having sex really loudly, and others just shouting. I think the walls were made of paper. One of the worst places ive stayed, especially for the money.
To top it off, we tried to explain in Spanish at check-out that the room was very noisy, trying to be helpful in letting them know. We were basically told "i know, unlucky!".
Give this hotel a wide birth based on this. Id never go back. Gran Hotel Del Sella down the road was a million times better where we paid a little more for the next 4 nights.
