“Not bad, really, right on the sea”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014

We stayed at Sunce Hotel for 3 nights on BB meal plan. The hotel is huge, right on the seacoast. You can make great pictures with its background:) The hotel is kind of old construction, with its 7 floors plus. So, you usually need elevators for moving up to the room and down to the beach or restaurant or reception. Well, elevators are 2, and always crowded. However, somehow we survived:) Breakfast was OK, service was OK, rooms were very little (we got a corner one without a balcony), but bathroom with shower was decent. Conditioning was working OK. And we enjoyed the side seaview from our window:) Free wifi works in the lobby and in the restaurant, so it was great. Beach is a pebble one, so please, bring your seashoes! Right next to the pool area and beach is a line of little shops and kiosks and little supermakets, if you wish to buy local drinks or souvenirs, prices are better than in Croatia, and they accept all currencies- including Bosnian marks, Croatian kunas and Euros. This hotel is popular among Polish guests.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view rooms on a higher floor- with balcony. Corner rooms are very little and little wi...

Well, this is one of the places left over from socialism. If you really want to learn about war, there is a ruin hotel just around the bend.

The hotel is agreeable, the lift definitely is a pain in the [--], but the rooms are ok.

The personal were very friendly, breakfast and dinner were ok.

Talking about war, have a look at all those ruins that we (the free west) allowed to be produced.

On the positive side, the Sunce is in a good location but go for a room with a sea view on one of the upper floors. We stayed three nights and had a good time, the room was quiet and relaxed at all times of the day and night. The cleaning staff don't necessarily clean it every morning though, but hey we can handle that.
It is a bit of a blast from the past however with some pretty old school 70's communist style service from some of the reception (who don't always provide you with correct informed information) and restaurant staff.
The breakfast sucks big time, no fresh fruit, watery diluted sugary orange drink, bland bread, and with Nescafe coffee from a machine (unforgiveable in the Balkans really) it just seems pretty lazy and not really giving a ?#!@. Many of the staff seem a bit dour and not happy with what they were doing, a sign that it's not managed well.
One of the redeeming factors though was the bar terrace and the barman; an absolute gem of a guy who seemed genuinely interested in the guests and in good customer service. We had some good chats and he even offered to give us a lift in his car at 5.30 in the morning when we had to leave.

Basically the hotel has one of the worst locations possible, its in Boznia and at the same time trapped between Croatian land. When we asked if there is any way to get to Dubrovnic from the hotel, we learned that public transportation is terrible/ unavailable. Neum is a near nightmare. Nothing to do, hence you're stuck in the hotel or else walking by the promenade.
The beach is quite lovely and the deckchair use is ideal. Although the beach does get very crowded on Sundays.
The breakfast is beyond cheap, orange juice is basically squash - super diluted, and in general minimal choice.
Dinner is "acceptable". Yes it does "fill you up" but with several limitations.
An English speaking receptionist is not always available, and the lift service is the worst I’ve ever seen
DO NOT ACCEPT / BOOK AN APARTMENT IN THIS HOTEL - TERRIBLE - MOULD EVERYWHERE
We were in an apartment and ended up asking for a switch .. which was nice and the transaction was plain sailing. The normal hotel room was the typical 3* hotel room, hence we weren't disappointed but the towels are really old, torn and uncomfortable.
At least they have decent warm shower water with high pressure (controlable).
The maid doesn't even always make the bed, and there's no such thing as mattress change.
Please don't get me started on the noise. The rooms are situated directly above the promenade, and partying and passers by noises will commence till around 4AM - yes, the noise is very loud.
The hotel bar is quite nice though.
Overall I'd say stay away, not just from the hotel but from Neum ingeneral.
Find a hotel in Dubrovnic - Way better

Room Tip: Avoid apartments at all costs .. and mouldy

very nice view from the balcony - sun, sea and mountains at their best.

Lifts are slow and small but okay i guess. Food does not vary so much but there is alot of choice and quantity. Quality is very good too.

Very comfortable Beds, but the only change the top sheet and just place it on the bed.

Breakfast is good too plenty to go around. Could do with some decent orange juice.

Room Tip: get a sea view room you won't regret it

Big hotel, with a big restaurant and many rooms.
Food is good and tasty.
Rooms at upper floors are better, the ones at the first floor cand give you troble sleeping because of the disco near the beach and the night noise from the street.
The hotel has 2 elevators that can help you go to the beach.
Wireless connection is in the lobby and is 1,50 euros for 30 minutes and 2 euros for 1 hours. The staff at the reception isn't too friendly or helpfull.
Rooms with a view at the seaside are very nice.
Neum is a resort with an economic, touristic development in the last 7 years, located 80 km away from Dubronik- Croatia
In Bosnia they have their own currency KM-convertible mark. 1 euro is 2 KM. ask first if you can pay in euro, many places accept this kind of payment.
Near the beach is a nice pizzeria-also Sunce complex, near the disco. beer is very good, price acceptable- 1,5 to 2 euros.

Room Tip: ask for a room upper floor and seaview

Last week I stayed together with my husband and daughter in this hotel with a touring group, we had a seaview room with fantastic views on the 4th floor.
The staff at the hotel are not very friendly but always gave us a good service except when they left us for 3 times without the shower gel even though we complained with the reception, but then we complained with our tourleader and action was taken immediately.
The lift is hell we did the stairs most of the time even with the luggages!
Breakfast is very boring always the same not much to choose from always sausages and eggs or cereal always same quality or cold cuts, bread butter and jams and natural yogurt, I would have liked to have some fruit or a piece of cake for a change! Dinner on the other hand is very good always had various types of deliciously cooked meats and one type of fish with plenty of vegetables/salad to choose from. I always skiped the starter but there was always soup and one type of pasta. Dessert included one type of gateau and one type of fruit, we once had ice cream too.
The room was ok, no mini fridge though, as to cleanliness it was acceptable though windows needed a clean and the old fitted carpets made the room look shabby. We had 2 single beds and a sofa bed for the child.
The hotel is located near shops and bars so some noise is no surprise, no big deal though most loud music was during the weekend and it did not disturb our sleep. We really enjoyed the atmosphere during the evening/night plenty of open shops with nice things and souvenirs to buy, prices are not expensive you can buy souvenirs from as little as 1 EURO.
Just a few mins from the hotel there are mini markets from which we bought beer and water at good price and cigarettes are cheaper too. Place is safe and there where many families walking along the sea and in the resturants nearby. So no worries if you forget to bring something :)
I would recommend this hotel to those who are not fussy and want a seside resort where you can have fun and relax with kids.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor it was convenient when the lift did not work or took too long, noise was no...
