“A modern hotel”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

The hotel has a modern decoration. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are very snug. The bathroom is very good and is being divided by the room with a glass which is colored white except the upper and lower parts which are transparent! At the room is only one type of electric socket available which limits the use of some devices like my traveler iron. The breakfast was poor, taking into account the category of the hotel. The WiFi is free but is available only at the lobby and not at the rooms.

My Husband and I stayed at the Hotel Sporting in Teramo while visiting family. It is a very modern hotel, clean and neat and included a great continental breakfast. There was only one staff member who spoke English and another problem was that we could only get Wifi in the loby or restaurant which was not available, for some reason, the last day we were there.

We were booked into the hotel by our tour guides, Maple and Saffron Tours, so I'm not sure what the cost was for just the hotel. The room is ultramodern, which means sparse but comfortable and quiet. Great views of the mountains and hills nearby. Very good breakfast, nice selection of meats and cheeses, yogurt, cereals, pastries. Could order coffee, espresso or cappucinos in a large room with a great view. Clean and functioning, although I do not understand the Italian fatuation of those small metal step on trash cans that always fall over when you try to open them. This wasn't the only hotel with them. Hotel seemed to have access to a walking-running trail that goes into center of town, we didn't have chance to explore it as we were so busy.
Only compaint was that wireless access to internet was only in the lobby and not the room. Sounds like there was wired access if you had a laptop but useless if you are trying to get by with just an IPhone.

I visited Hotel Sporting in October. It was well appointed and clean. Location was a tad confusing when trying to get there via an Italian GPS, but when we did find it we were happy with what we found. The hotel is very contemporary, actually kind of funky. The restaurant was good. The people at the front desk were great, even helping to translate some messages from my Italian cousins to me. It was a little pricey but so is everything in Italy! I would stay there again.

Great example of how a 4* hotel should look and function. Very nice modern design. Recently modernized. Excellent food and nicely located.

Sporting is not the type of hotel I prefer, too fancy on the outside and a bit sterile on the inside. However I had to try it and spent a week in it.
If you like night-life and want to have a chance to go out to the city it is a perfect hotel. If you just have to work and want to sleep well it is expensive.
The rooms are perfect, newly styled, clean and a real pleasure to the eye. However I did not really use them...
A breakfast is served daily, but it seemed to become less by the day and at the end we were down to Italian standards which is not much.
So my basic conclusion: I can get the same quality for less money - that;s what I go for and rather buy some more wine for the money saved...

Room Tip: Try to get to the upper floors - it's more quiet
