I had booked to stay at the Sotto Il Vulcano but despite arranging a meeting time just a few days before, and getting there early, I waited for 45 minutes and no one turned up. So I found this place.
It's about 10 minutes walk from the centre in a fairly quiet side turning, opposite a supermarket. It doesn't look much from the outside but inside it's beautiful - stuffed with antiques and paintings and many unusual collections. It's like a museum. The rooms are nicely furnished, too - really quite elegant.
There are rooms with or without bathroom - I had one of the better ones with a bathroom, and doors opening on to a terrace (no views). Rooms are a little dark, though.
There's a nice terrace and breakfast area (extra cost for breakfast) at the back of the hotel. Prices are reasonable.
No private parking but easy to find a place in the street.
Friendly owners, and it seemed pretty quiet - although its website says the hotel doubles as a youth hostel, there was no sign of any "youthful" activity!
