We planned Genting hoping to experience water sports but all were gone in vain when we came to know that the waterpark was under renovation for past 2 years. So please make sure the motive of your visit to genting before you visit the place. It takes around 6 hours to reach Genting from Singapore by BUS.
Genting is a planned tourist spot which only has 3-4 hotels belonging to the Genting Highlands and water park (under renovation currently).
We reached our hotel at 6:30am in surprisingly chilling cold. The size of the hotel mesmerized us. I was huge construction with around 6000 rooms. We were hoping for an early checkin. But as luck has it, we had to wait along with 100's of people wishing to check-in. We waited for 4 hours before checking-in and got a room at 11:00am.
1 major reason for selecting the hotel was that we had booked the room at very descent price of around INR 2500/-. The double room which we got was a basic 2 bedded room with TV, Toiletries and Fan fitted in the room. No a great impression.
But the hotel has a indoor theme park, a BIG PLUS. We spent a our next 14 hours just exploring the hotel and playing around. It has snow world, Rope Way (longest i have seen in a while), BIG Gaming Zone, Many Rest., Ripleys Believe, Haunted House, Regulat Live Stage Shows and no. of restauranys and Brand Store to keep you busy. And lastly, CASINO made us lose money but was fun being there. So here it comes

Pros:
Cost Effective Rooms
Indoor Theme Park (day pass: 50RM - Rides)
CASINO
Restaurants

Cons:
Long Wait for Checkin (if willing to check-in early)
Basic Rooms - Not much attractive
Not places to Roam around in close sorroundings

At the end of the day the visit to Genting was worth for us as a group of 5. But we couldn't have spent an extra without getting bored for sure.

Well, I have been staying in this hotel since its inception in 2002. I guess I have been here more than 30 times. For a property which has the most number of rooms in Asia, they are doing a great job. It has never been easy to maintain the cleanliness, hygienes etc. The only thing that they will need to have a look is on the breakfast where the quantity is there but quality dropped. Improving on that would be a great plus for the hotel as a whole. Nevertheless, I will always recommend First World Hotel for Genting stayers.

Well, its the size and scale of this hotel that struck me. A hotel with 6118 rooms and still building more !! Staying in this hotel is an experience, although the rooms are not that great and are more like hostel rooms.

Well, lets start from the beginning. We reached through the cable car and made our way through the long gaming zone, indoor theme park etc to the huge lobby. There are over 25 reception counters in the lobby with over 100 waiting chairs. It sometimes gives you the impression of being in the departure lounge of a mid sized airport. Once inside the hotel, one can barely get to see the sun outside and hence loses the sense of time. It is really remarkable to even think that how the authorities manage and operate such a huge setup. It is really commendable.

I stayed in a DLX room on the 11th floor. In spite of being such a busy and big hotel, i had to never wait for lift for any longer duration, it is very well organized. I stayed on the 11th floor in room no 11916 in tower 2. The dlx room in which i stayed was a disappointment mainly due to its size, lack of sunlight. One can barely place 2 suitcases in the room. There is hardly enough space to place one suitcase. The room is extremely extremely basic with one bed, and a side table. There is hardly any space to move around. The worst part for me was that there was no sunlight, when i opened the curtains to my surprise and disbelief all that i could see was the windows of the other rooms. So was it was a view of other rooms and nothing else. This i later understood was kind of a huge duct on the inside part of the building to which all the room windows opened. Even during the day time there was hardly any sunlight.

The room was old but clean and well maintained. There was a LCD TV , water kettle and mini bar. The bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also pretty small but maintained and clean. So, overall its not place where you to stay in a hotel room. I just came to the room to sleep late in the night and then move out early. The rooms are very basic, small and un charming but at the same time clean, practical and functional. Probably that is what is their business model. Had there been some sunlight coming in , i would have been more happier.

Although the outdoor theme park is under renovation and a major part of the indoor theme park is also closed, still there is quite a many thinks to do and enjoy. The rides, restaurants, casinos, shops, rippleys counter etc. . . At the moment (June 2014) , this place is fun for kids and not so much for the elderly except the casino. The food was also pretty decent and we got all indian food at the first world cafe. They had lot of cakes in the desert which i found to be repetitive after having 2 - 3 meals there.

I heard that they are even closing the indoor theme park for renovation in the coming days. So, please double check before going that what all amenities are available. The weather was very good with a temperature of around 15 degrees.

All and all its a great experience to have been to this place with a little disappointment for rooms. But then, i dont complain about it as i hardly spent i time in the room. So, if you are particular about your hotel room and its amenities then book yourself at other options available in genting like Maxims, Genting Grand, Awana ( all these are 4 - 5 star luxurious properties). You can probably also take a Superior Dlx Room which i was told was larger in size and has better view and amenities.

But i must say, its a lifetime experience and one must have it once.

Taken to this hotel, supposed to be a treat by dear friend Dr.Yeoh Oon Soon. Bad things compounded by more bad things. Long long wait at reception, dealing with disinterested/rude counter girl. Definitely a one or at best 2-stars hotel. Paper-thin walls, can hear everything neighbours & people in corridor saying. No airconditioning, just fan. At least room, bathroom & bedsheets clean. Tea/coffee making facilities good. Checked in at 1.30pm, had to ask for towels.

Room Tip: Couldn't comment as we were given lousy room view.

I booked world club room. Its really good. I booked one double bed instead of two double bed. Why? One double bed, there is a bath tub inside. And the bath tub got transparent window so that you can view the view outside there. That day i stay in tower 2, 27 floor. Wah, great. Previous i stay in tower 1, 24th floor.. Hee... But if stay in tower 2, we need to go to tower 1, 24th floor for breakfast. Ah.. forgot to say, if we book world club room, we no need to squeeze with people in the first world cafe. They have special lounge for the world club room for breakfast. Not so noisy. Inside the bathroom, they give toothbrush & so on. Not like others type of room. Great to stay here.

Room Tip: choose world club room. Cause got sight view and also higher floor.

Property with lot of rooms so feels like a assembly line process. No personal attention by staff. Food at Indian restaurant was pathetic. Clean but small rooms. No great view, only advantage being cheap prices compared to others in Genting Highlands.
