I have stayed at this chateau about three times now and have always enjoyed it. This time we invited some friends to join us and they weren't disappointed. For a change we stayed in the Orangerie and the room was excellent, being a good size, nicely furnished with all the amenties you would expect. The food in the restaurant was superb and the service excellent. This is one of my firm favourites and will certainly go again.

This chateau is perfect. We were enthusiastic just arriving down the tree lined avenue and crossing the bridge over the moat. Parked in the semi-circular drive were Ferraris. Porsches, Bentleys and Aston Martins, the vehicles of other guests who were going to ferry back to GB the next day. The chateau was built as a resting stop for XVII th century kings, so it seemed like an auspicious beginning to a lovely stay.

The rooms in the main chateau are elegant. Ours overlooked the moat and garden and fountains. We slept very well. The only draw back was the shower which was difficult to use and potentially dangerous to enter and egress.

We were there two nights. I had an amazing massage in the beautiful new spa and we ate dinner both evenings in the very elegant dining room. One night we had a salmon amuse, followed by lobster, followed by lamb filet en croute and a Grand Marnier souffle. The staff is so professional and the manager of the dining room was so friendly, even sharing a picture of his adorable daughter and her pony on his I phone.

Breakfast was delightful and the selections were vast and delicious. Overall our stay had a dreamlike romantic ambiance at a tremendous value.

We stayed at Chateau d'Étoges for two nights while in the Champagne region and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We arrived at the Chateau late at night and were afraid we would have difficulty finding the place. Fortunately, the Chateau is right in the village of Étoges and it is very easy to find. Upon arrival, staff were most helpful in providing us with keys and accompanying us to our rooms while providing the necessary information about our stay. The place was quiet and rooms were well appointed (we were in l'Orangerie). We had breakfast on site both days and enjoyed the service and decor. Given the location of the Chateau, it is very easy to go around the cote des blancs area up to Epernay. A great pied-à-terre for visiting the region.

I booked this hotel as an overnight stop over for the two days we were in Champagne-Ardennes, and having arrived realised that we had stayed here some years before!

On our previous stay (some years ago) the Orangerie had suffered some major fire damage, but has now been refurbished beauifully to house their restaurant with additional rooms above - they have also recently added spa facilities too.

The Chateau is beautifully appointed, set in what seems like endless fields and formal gardens. It has the most spectacular tree lined entrance, leading to the bridged moat running around it.

The rooms in the main house have great character - We had a huge (30ft sq) room on the top floor this time, with fabulous wooden floors, panelling and delightful views over the village on one side, and the gardens to the rear.

We were really looking forward to our Gastronomique dinner, having booked a 'package' rate including dinner and breakfast and we were not disappointed...The package also included a tour of a local Champagne house and a bottle of Champagne (which I was completed unaware of at the time) ;-).

(The Gastronomique Balthazar dinner included seven courses including Fois Gras, Lobster, Sea Bass, Sorbet, Lamb, Cheese (great cheese trolley), and deserts! The wine list was extensive and had some fabulous vintage reds.

Although after the dinner the night before we didn't need a huge breakfast, the selection on the breakfast buffett was too good to refuse. Excellent beauifully cooked scrambled eggs, with a selection of bacon and hams as the warm options, plus cheese, smoked salmon, pastries, fresh fruit and juices...

I can't understand some of the reviewers on here calling the place expensive. Get a grip people. This isn't an Etap !

You are staying in Champagne Ardennes in one of the most fabulous Chateaus in the area. The food is as good as you'll get from a Michelen starred restaurant and the service and attention is second to none. At £50 a head for a seven course dinner (plus wine of course) I thought it was brillant value for money....

A bientot Chateau D'Etoges - we'll be back soon..

Room Tip: Choose a room in the Main Chateau as they are full of character

Had we known, we would have stayed more than one night. About an hour from Paris, it changes to peaceful pasture land. We arrived very late from our overdue flight and were met at the front door. No sooner did I tell her that we had eaten nothing than a beautiful tray of cheeses, breads, butter and bottled water arrived. Our room was quite nice, and the atmosphere was upscale. the next morning we had breakfast in a lovely dining room that had excellent fluffy eggs!

Room Tip: PS if you are American make sure you carry lots of artificial sweetener with you if you use it! the...

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night in June, this was the last day of our driving holiday of the Champagne area. Next time we will stay a little longer.

We came here on the recommendation of a friend for the experience of the Chateau and the restaurant. We were not disappointed and everything lived up to the high expectations we had.

That night I had possibly one of the best meals in my life. I thought I was having a moment of deja vu when being served as our waiter looked the same as a gentleman whom had served me earlier that day at a different restaurant some 200 kilometres away. I asked him what the go was – it was his twin brother – glad I wasn’t going crazy! Anyway amazing service, amazing food, great wine and cheeses – magnificent experience.

We explored the expansive grounds which are very picturesque, and had a picnic style lunch with bits and pieces we bought at the local stores a few minutes walk away in the small town.

The rooms in the Orangery were comfortable but a little worn. Free WIFI was available, however the speed was poor. The moat that surrounds the buildings adds to the already medieval type atmosphere and helps transport you to another era.

We would definitely stay here again when we revisit the Champagne area. Expensive, however good value for money and a great experience.

We recently stayed two nights at the Chateau d'Etoges while visiting the Champagne region. We got the last available room, which was located in the orangery. It was comfortable but worn, slightly threadbare. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were wonderful, all spoke fluent English and were friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous but expensive dinner, definitely a splurge but very good. Likewise the breakfast buffet was very good. The grounds are spectacular, and there are good Champagne houses within walking distance. The best feature? the romantic nature of staying at a Chateau. The worst? slightly threadbare room and expensive. I'd definitely return.
