Little Paradise Lodge
Reviewed 10 May 2014

Our family of five stumbled upon this place on a return drive from Glenorchy. My youngest needed the toilet which is the reason we stopped....and the toilet is an experience of its own!
We absolutely loved all of NZ but this little garden was top of the list. Partly because it was so unexpected. Every corner so lovingly tended and the little details and sculptured scattered through the garden to delight you at every turn. I felt like I had stepped through the looking glass. Highly highly recommended.

We stayed in 14 different places during our holiday in New Zealand, and this was by far the best. The love, care, devotion, and time taken to create this little bit of paradise is truly inspirational. I am not a gardener, but after staying here, even I want to have a go at creating something.
We took somebody's advice, and booked the frog room. We were not dissapointed. The room was fantastic, as was the view-both day and night.
The hosts were warm and welcoming, and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
I can't wait to go back-and just hope it's not fully booked when I want to go.
This place should always be fully booked-take my advice, and book it if you can!

Room Tip: the frog room is fantastic

Highly highly recommended- The gardens were fantastic and such a strong energy vibe from the whole place- didn't wanna leave as there was genuinely something mystical about the garden. Beautiful interior of the lodge and personal touches that reflect the owners passion for his craftsmanship-a really inspirational man- a refreshing and wonderful place to stay or even visit and unforgettable experience!

We heard about Little Paradise from a Chinese couple we shared a scenic flight with to Milford Sound. I'm so glad! This is, indeed, a magical place, a special creation of nature and art. We spent a couple of hours wandering around this lovely creation. If I'd known about it before, I would have loved to have stayed there. As it is, we feel very lucky to have had the experience of Little Paradise. Tip: Even if you don't feel the need, be sure to visit the toilet ... It's unique.

I visited only the garden, not the lodge, and was amazed at its beauty and interest. It is situated on the road between Queenstown and Glenorchy, overlooking the lovely waters of Lake Wakatipu. The owner has both plants and whimsical sculptures to display, and they are well worth the visit.

My wife, sister and 12 year old niece stayed here to recover from the Milford Track while preparing for Jetboating. In retrospect, we would have made this a destination to visit even if we didn't stay here. The artist and creator of the gardens is a true genius (and a really nice guy too). He'd be world famous if he was better at marketing himself! (Website is www.littleparadise followed by .co.nz) He created a wonderful balance of beauty, life, and social responsibility, we spent a couple of hours mesmerized by his gardens and works of art. Even the geese, peacock, chickens and giant fish find this a peaceful place. Well worth the $14 entry fee and 20 minute drive from Queenstown. Just when the road leaves behind all signs of civilization, you indeed find Paradise!

This is for anyone who wants a lovely and unique place to stay. Amazing garden with artistic works throughout both inside and out. Surprises around every corner. Great view of lake and mountains. It's away from the busyness of town and in one of the. Most beautiful places in the world.
