Sits on a beach close to the Marine National Park , boat trips from the beach to the coral reefs . Dinner menus vary daily around themes , all buffet style with lots of choice . Hotel staff very friendly and most rooms overlook the ocean .
Nice and relaxing , only 30mins from Malindi airfield . Comes highly recommended !

The staff of hemingways watamu are among the most friendly and helpful I've met in my travels. The rooms are clean with more than enough supplies, we never had to call for any thing. All rooms are beach facing. nice gym but no windows:( Great vacation for families with young kids. Recommended

Room Tip: All rooms are beach facing.the junior suites don't have an open balcony. If not traveling with k...

My wife and I visited this resort and it more than lived up to our expectations. We were picked at the airport at Malindi and driven to the hotel in great comfort. The superviews rooms facing the Indian Ocean have a fantastic view with balcony seating that makes the most of the sea breeze. The room and beds are very comfortable and spacious and the room has a well stocked mini bar. But what is most exceptional is the service and the attention the staff give ensure a very enjoyable stay. Whether in your room, or the two poolsides, the bar or gyms the staff are very quick, courteous and helpful. The food is amazing. I highly recommend going snorkeling in the marine park and taking the sun-downer dhow cruise, you need to experience it for yourself. We definitely shall be back there for another holiday, hopefully very soon! Well done to all staff (Esp. Ms Husna in guest relations and Mohammed, a fantastic waiter) there who made it such a memorable experience! Vickie and Francis

Room Tip: The Super View rooms have an incredible view

unlike most reviewers, my family and I just had the opportunity to patron this place for a lunch time meal and a boat ride. The food was well done and the service was great! You get a feeling that you are not just another customer who has walked in the door as the staff pay attention to you despite having other people around. Our children were well taken care off and the meals were served quickly. The view of the ocean was wonderful and staff made arrangements for us to take a boat ride on a glass bottomed boat for some snorkelling - this was great for hinterland folk like us. It was a memorable visit!

Keep up with the good service. No beach boys to bother the best part of the holiday.

Room Tip: Deluxe room facing sea front, left of the lobby

We just spent a week at Hemingways and can honestly say this was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The location right on the beach was breathtakingly beautiful and the staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Prices were very reasonable considering the luxury of the hotel and the food was wonderful, especially the fish caught daily from the ocean. Word of advice take plenty of Sun Protection!

Room Tip: All rooms face the beach!

Dear Emma,

The fresh fish is indeed a delicacy and we are pleased that you found it so, and enjoyed the scenery. Next time you need relaxation, good food and great service (as you aptly put it) please do think of us again. Welcome again Emma!

A very well run hotel overlooking an idyllic white sand and palm tree beech. We loved the comfort and ambiance, but particularly the attention to detail and the enthusiasm and friendliness of all the staff. Some have criticised the house rules, but we liked them as they ensured that we could fully enjoy our stay without being disturbed by loud mobile phone conversations and inconsiderate smokers. The food and wine were excellent and I have never seen another hotel with such impressive floral displays. We did not attempt the deep sea fishing for which the hotel is rightly famous. We did however do all the hotel's other organised trips (Gedi ruins, Arabuko-Sokoke Park, Snorkeling, Sundowner Dhow Cruise and Malindi shopping) They were all enjoyable, either complimentary or good value and well worth doing. Even for us as non fishers, it was amazing to see the record weight Blue Marlin (1062 lb) brought ashore on one day.My wife said that she had rarely had such a good massage, and also had two excellent manicures. The General Manager Melinda and Rooms Manager George run a tight but very happy ship.It is hardly surprising that we met so many other guests who have been repeat visitors for many years!

Room Tip: The Deluxe rooms on the first floor of the North Block were refurbished recently. They are very comf...
