We took the self-drive option as all other offers were very expensive. We decided to eat at TBBC for a fraction of the price we'd been offered at Mida. It was not the season for most of the birds to be here but our guide took us on a long walk across the boardwalk and through the mud flats. We had agreed on a one hour canoe trip, but after a 40 minute wait for the canoe we were told to disembark after only 200 metres. They wanted the canoes for the next group which had had to wait much longer than us. As we had been told to pay on our return we refused to pay much for the canoe "trip". Our guide was very knowledgeable and knew just where to dig up various crabs. We regret that we didn't insist on a receipt as the profit is meant to go to high school education for local kids, but we're sure our money was pocketed. According to those in the know, receipts should be issued.
